Vintage Specimen Dome - DOLLAR STORE DIY Tutorial Video - Cheap & Easy Decor You Can Make Quickly Michelle Rae Landry 2023-02-26 | #dollarstorecrafts #vintagestyle #diydecor Learn how to make a beautiful "vintage style" Specimen Dome from items you can collect in nature. This project is super easy, quick and fun. Supplies and steps below:Materials Needed:- Dollar Tree Dome ( Comes in two sizes. $1.25 in USA or use any glass dome)- Collected items from nature (shells, rocks, dried flowers, birds nest, feathers etc.)- White Glue- Super Glue or Any Super holding glue like Beacon Glues- Vintage Book Pages, scrapbook papers, pattern paper or printed digital paper- Ink pads, distress ink, inkers (optional)- Labels- can be Specimen Labels, Blank Labels, Digital Kit Label (Link to the labels I used is here: tinyurl.com/bdzfhtdh)- Metallic Acrylic Paint or Gilding Wax- ScissorsSteps:1. Gather Natural Items2. Trace Dome on Patterned paper or book page3. Glue paper to base. (ink to "age the paper if you choose)4. Find an image for the background if you desire. Cut out.5. Put a pretty paper on the back - use glue stick or glue6. Trim that backing paper once it's glued on.7. Add color to the item if you choose.8. Take Acrylic Paint (Gold, Copper) or Gilding Wax and apply to the base to makeit look metallic.9. Arrange items inside the dome. If they will move around a lot you can use superglue or a permeant glue to keep them in place.10. Glue background element into the dome, use glue that will dry clear. 12. While I give my HONEST opinion throughout this video, I would summarize the Grabie Sticker Collection as an 8/10. They were beautiful, high quality stickers that were packaged nicely, had a wide variety of images and colors and would fit in so many journal and paper craft projects. I did struggle with removing the sticker from the backing, and needed a weeding tool/needle tool which should be noted for those with limited finger dexterity or patience. I wouldn't recommend for children. I would use these again in a project because I think they add real "pop" to a layout. In this project they were the hero and made the layering easy.
