PS2 UDPBD Server Windows Tutorial - Better than SMB? (English, 2023) Project Phoenix Media 2023-06-03 | Recently I've been testing out the UDPBD Server tool on Windows 11 (also works in Linux and MacOS) which is a custom network protocol that should have better performance for PS2 games instead of using the SMB method.I personally love this solution since it is less hassle and easier to setup initially when compared to SMB.If not obvious, you need a way to run the custom build of OPL and then if you want to do the USB method, put your DVD ISO games into the "DVD" folder or the bin/cue files in the "CD" folder.Some tips if you have issues getting this to work on your end:1) Disable firewall or allow the server through the firewall.2) Check your Ethernet cable to ensure you have connection either to your PS2 or router.3) If doing direct connect to PS2, set a static ip address on PC within the 192.168.1.X network. One of the main reasons I did this is because I wanted to retain my network connectivity, and not go with a whole SATA network adapter change out with no network functionality.Kit installation is easy, maybe 15 mins or less if you know what you are doing, and the instructions are helpful.Paired with a SATA drive and using programs like HDL Batch Installer, WinHIIP, or others, install your PS2 games to the hard drive on you PC, and then play them like a boss with OPL. Testing PS2 OPL With Light Gun Accessory and Time Crisis 2 (SMB Method) 2021 Project Phoenix Media 2021-08-07 | Today's video is not a tutorial per say, but a quick showcase of using my PS2 slim with the TP Link travel router (TL-WR902AC) to share a game from usb over SMB to the PS2, and playing Time Crisis 2 on my old school CRT TV. In short, light gun games do work.Although this game does work on USB, I had issues where it would randomly freeze but when I moved over to SMB, I had no issues whatsoever.Maybe your results may vary if you are using USB, but if you get into a similar situation, then consider SMB too! It won't work at first, but once you apply MechaPwn and respective patches, then yes you will be able to play your JPN game without getting a physical JPN console! How cool is that!Warning: It is very possible for you to brick your PS2 if you do not know what you are doing, so please, pretty please, read the github carefully, and if any issues, create a github ticket. The original v1.0 came out with support for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 where if you had a PS1 memory card with the modified save game file on it, when you create a skater, the exploit launches and you can swap out your legit disc with a backup disc in its place.This is pretty cool. At the time of this writing, I'm waiting for my own copy of THPS2 to arrive, and I'll do my own demo as well. FunTuna - FMCB for Fortuna Tutorial (English, 2020) Project Phoenix Media 2020-09-04 | I'm excited to present today (9/3/20) the first English video on YouTube about FunTuna, which is a method to run FMCB on your PS2 slim consoles!The only caveat is you need a method to install the FunTuna .psu file to your memory card. This can be done via FreeDVDBoot (assuming your laser is good and you can boot the burnt disc), or if you have an alternative way (modchip, friend, etc.) where you can somehow run UlaunchElf whether that is from disc or pre-installed Fortuna project memory card.Once you get that part figured out, then installing FunTuna is really easy.Note: FunTuna is recommended over Fortuna, it fixes bugs and is more stable. Plus, you get the flexibility that comes with FMCB, so you can add more apps, map them to the home screen, and reap the rewards just like other PS2 users who have had FMCB for years. FreeDVDBoot - New PS2 Exploit - Disc Burning Tutorial (English) Project Phoenix Media 2020-06-30 | If you guys haven't heard already, FreeDVDBoot was recently launched and its causing a major ripple within the PS2 scene community. In a nutshell, for certain DVD player versions of the PS2, you can burn a DVD-R (or +R) disc with a special image, and the PS2 will boot it thinking it is a DVD movie disc, but in reality it isn't. Upon boot, it will go into the ULaunchELF program, and from there, you can use it as an entry point to instrall FMCB from USB, copy Fortuna Project files from USB to memory card, or do whatever else your heart desires.Although this exploit is 20 years too late, I say its better late than never! Enjoy!Update: For whatever reason, the hybrid disc does not work for my SCPH-9001, DVD player version 3.11U. However, if I use the 3.11 pre-built ISO, then it does work.
