Good thing I have a better grasp of how the Genny's sound hardware works and what it is capable of now.

Super Mario Bros.Joshua Schaferhund2017-01-31 | Warning: This is very difficult to do, it took me a couple attempts to pull this off. This is likely possible on a real arcade cabinet, but I'd only do it at your own risk.
I'm not sure if I'm the first person who figured this out, but when Nintendo made this arcade version of Super Mario Bros., they removed all of the known infinite 1up tricks from the game, yet overlooked that the one Koopa Paratroopa on the staircase in World 5-2, potentially allowing an infinite 1up exploit. However, the game's code was changed so that you can only earn a maximum of three lives from defeating enemies consecutively, and this was likely done to prevent any other 1up exploits they may have been overlooked, so you have to stop jumping (which I struggle to do here) by pressing A a few times, then start jumping again to roll the point bonus multiplier back to 100, allowing you to get three more lives and so forth. My best strategy for this would be to mash the A button repeatedly to start bouncing off the Koopa shell to build points, then after you get the three extra lives, press up on the control stick repeatedly to stop jumping to reset the point bonuses and then start jumping again.
BTW, if you're wondering why the some of the background sprites are from SMB2J, I hacked those in. The game itself does not have those. I also apologize for the poor video quality, I didn't have a good codec installed, so I just used whatever I had. I wanted to get this video out as soon as possible. An experiment with video game tunes in Petz 2Joshua Schaferhund2011-09-02 | Just messing around with the music box toy in Petz 2. I guess you can say this is a sequel to my "Fucking Around with Catz" video.
BTW guys, if you're wondering how to do this, you have to convert a song into mono and put it into WAV format using a program such as Audacity, then simply place the wave file into your Songs folder in the Toyz folder. Then take out one of your Petz, take out the music box, open it up and watch the magic happen. :P
And yes Bashe, I named one of the Dogz after your IRL Dog. :V

Oh well, can't have everything my way.Messing around with CatzJoshua Schaferhund2011-08-30 | For those of you who don't know, Petz was a series of animal simulation PC games made during 1995-2000, it was made by P.F. Magic, who were notorious for making the abomination on the Genesis and SNES known as Ballz. Unlike that, however, these games were actually somewhat interesting. Though they weren't technically games, they were more like simulation programs. (Sort of like how Mario Paint wasn't really a game, it was mostly an art tool for the SNES.)
I just happened to stumble across my old Catz CD a while ago, (which also came with some version of an free 30-day trial of AOL, as many software CDs came with it during the mid to late 90's, as well as the shareware versions of Dogz, Oddballz and Petz 2. All of which I remember playing, along with Petz 3.) so I decided, what the hell, I may as well make some filler.
Recorded in DOSBox using Windows 3.1. And yes, I have Calmira. Go me. :DSomething I did when I was bored.Joshua Schaferhund2011-08-13 | I don't know which driver I installed this came from, but this MIDI was in my Windows 3.1/DOSBox folder. It reminded me of the Hard Ending theme from Thunder Force 4, so I made it into Genesis format. (Sort of, I used the extra 32x FM tone. :P)
It's called SENITEL.MID btw, if anyone knows about it, tell me.
Pretty much most of the instruments were made by myself, though I toke the TF drums. :PUnused 3DO Doom music - Intro and Sweet Little Dead Bunny (Episode 3 Cutscene)Joshua Schaferhund2011-08-09 | I was looking around Doomworld one day when I stumbled upon a WAD someone had made containing all of the 3DO tracks ripped straight from the CD. I examined it with XWE and I noticed that there were two tracks that did not appear in the actual port. I figured that these had to be cut tracks from the game.
I'm assuming the cut intro music was based on that from the OPL version due to have the "blood oozing" noise that the MIDI version lacked.Doomguys reaction to ImpseJoshua Schaferhund2011-08-08 | I don't think I need to explain anything.
Yes, I ripped the sprite and sound straight from the WAD, go cry me a river.Doom II Beta Version Footage (NOTE: This isnt an actual beta WAD, just the engine.)Joshua Schaferhund2011-08-07 | After fooling around with the shareware beta releases of Vanilla Doom and the Doom 1 and 2 IWADs, i managed to get a (partially) working beta version of Doom 2. Keep in mind that this is NOT an actual Doom 2 beta wad, I just used the -file command line parameter with the wads to get it to work, since beta Doom 2 uses data from the first game as placeholders. Here are some known differences between the betas (v1.4, v1.5, and in this case; v1.6) and the final release. (v1.666)
*Doom 1 music is being used as a placeholder *The Episode selection from Doom 1 is used *The intermission screens are different, using a darker title screen image instead of the later INTERPIC lump. *Super Shotgun's animation is incomplete and uses normal shotgun sound as a placeholder *Many features have not yet been implemented, such as the Wolfenstein secret level stuff *Arachnotrons' animations are incomplete and use Spider Mastermind sounds as place holders. They use a chaingun instead of a plasma rifle. Game will crash when one dies. *Doom 1's map names are used as placeholders. *Pain Elementals and Hell Knights use Cacodemons' and Barons' sounds as placeholders *Revnants and Archviles use Cyberdemon and rocket/barrel explosion sounds as placeholders. *Only the first three maps are playable by default, the game will crash after MAP03. Though certain other maps are accessible through the IDCLEV cheat, but not all of them. *(NOT SHOWN) Sky lumps from Doom 1 used as placeholders. *(NOT SHOWN) Preliminary box art is different from the final *(NOT SHOWN) Revnants fire rockets. :V
To get this to work, do the following. 1. Go to http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=647 and download the v1.6 shareware beta. Put the game files into a folder called D2BETA in your DOS Games directory, which you mount with DOSBox. 2. Delete the shareware IWAD and place your Doom 1 and 2 IWADs into the folder. 3. Set up your game settings through SETUP.EXE and type the following command at the DOS prompt: doom -file doom.wad doom2.wad.
If you did all of this correctly, it should work. Keep in mind as with every beta, it is very buggy and only some of the levels are playable due to a lot of the code not yet being in the final release.Doom 3DO - E1M1, E1M4, E1M9 and E2M1 Pitched upJoshua Schaferhund2011-08-05 | So I listened to the 3DO Doom soundtrack, and needless to say, it was awesome. However, I noticed a little problem, four of the songs were out of pitch and E1M1 was a tad bit slow compared to their original MIDIs from the PC version. Now people have sped up E1M1 before, but from the videos i've heard, they still sound slightly out of pitch. Luckily, I not only decided to fix that with the cheap power of Audacity, but also pitched up E1M4, E1M9 and E2M1.
You can also download these for your WADs and stuff! :D
http://www.4shared.com/file/wY2lTxGW/Doom3DOcorrected.htmlHalf Assed DOS Games: Kens LabyrinthJoshua Schaferhund2011-07-26 | Some of you may disagree with me here, but I personally do not like this game. I understand that Ken was in his pre teen years when he made this, but now that he has grown up and by today's standards, this game looks and plays like shit. This game came out only a few months after Wolfenstein 3D, which quite honestly LOOKED AND PLAYED a trillion times better. Plus Ken's Labyrinth has terrible, unfitting music that does not belong in a first person shooter, the controls are clunky and awkward, and the way all of the enemies and characters were designed are down right cringe worthy. Plus, the Sound Blaster driver doesn't work for some reason, so I have to use the PC Speaker for audio samples, which makes the music even shittier because it keeps pausing every time a fucking sound effect plays.
I will give some credit to it however, as it was the game that inspired Ken Silverman to create the Build engine that would be used in the cult classic Duke Nukem 3D, but other than that, this game sucks.
Don't ask me about the crash at the end, I have no idea why that happened.IE4CHAN.MID - Hidden Windows 98 MID file (?)Joshua Schaferhund2011-07-20 | This is something I found while searching for MIDIs through the CAB files on my Windows 98FE CD. Apparently this is a MIDI file that was supposed to be involved with Internet Explorer 4. (Which quite honestly is the worst version of IE you can get. :P) It's apparently a shortened version of Flourish.mid, which was later bundled in Windows ME and all succeeding versions of Windows after that. Perhaps, this was supposed to be use as an introduction when you installed the shitty browser on Windows 95? XD
