DRONE Records Conflict With BEAR!!! This required some quick thinking (which ended in shooting the bear). After everything was done, I checked the drone's video footage and found it had been recording the entire incident, so I am sharing this rather unusual footage.This occurred on our trapline in northern Alberta. Where the Bison Roam - Northern Alberta The Way to Native Chronicles 2024-01-01 | I recorded this footage in Habay last year (near Chateh/Assumption) and am sharing it for those interested in applying to hunt bison, since that's likely where you will be. As you can see, the area is incredibly expansive and flat, with low trees, meadows and lakes. The conditions change a lot from year to year. This was recorded on an extremely dry year but, the previous year, the whole area shown was under 6 feet of water.You won't be able to camp in the area shown at the beginning of this video, as it is reserved for Dene Tha band members, but there are lots of other places. How To Install a Compustar 925S Remote Starter In a 2001 GMC Yukon (4K) The Way to Native Chronicles 2023-12-24 | A little while ago, I bought a little truck for my wife - a 2001 GMC Yukon that was in very nice condition. She really likes the truck, but it lacks one thing she really desires: A remote starter to warm it up before driving in winter.So, hearing that, our 22 yr. old grandson did some research and determined a remote starter kit that should work for her vehicle. I then went to the place where it was sold and the proprietor told me he could not, in good conscience, sell that kit to me. He then proceeded to give me a bunch of reasons - saying I would need to purchase an expensive diagnostic module and obtain a vehicle code to bypass the security system and that the install was so tricky, only a trained technician would be able to accomplish it... a task that would cost an extra $300 or $400 to do!Well, grandson heard that and called b.s., saying he could figure out a way to install it. So I went and ordered the unit from Amazon. We figured that, if it arrived in time, it would make a real nice Christmas present.Once I received the kit in the mail he came over, late last night (day before Christmas Eve) and began work on it. I think he started at about midnight.And he did get it done... by 6:00 o'clock Christmas Eve morning! Pretty determined young man he is...Not only did he get it installed, but before he left, he handed me the video camera I use for my YouTube work, saying he had made a video of the secrets to how the install was done; figuring it might be something beneficial for the channel. Hunt Cabins Instead of Sheds! (Using a Drone) (4K) The Way to Native Chronicles 2023-12-19 | Many spend time in the off-season hunting for antler sheds, but there are also numerous, long-abandoned trapper's cabins located all over; many of them forgotten. One thing I've discovered is that First Nations and other communities are very interested in finding structures and other artifacts like these so they can be recorded and marked for protection and historical reference. So, if you're looking for reasons to get out in the bush during the hunting off-season, this is something you could consider doing instead of (or in addition to) hunting for antler sheds. The discoveries you make and share will be appreciated by local communities. Drones, while not exactly cheap, are within the price range of many individuals now and their operation is not that difficult, thanks to their advanced sensing technology. I hope that, after viewing this video, some of you will be incentivized to explore using them. Another benefit is you will learn new things about your favourite hunting spots - things like where game trails, hidden clearings and water bodies are located.In this video, my grandson and I search for an abandoned trapper's cabin that, according to stories shared by elderly residents of the area, is located somewhere on our trapline. The drone used is a "DJI Mini 3" (a "Mini 4" has recently become available too). It's built-in camera works on a gimble, so you can point it straight down into the trees from above as you fly and it captures footage in 4K resolution, so you can see plenty of detail from high above the trees.Myself, I'm not into shed hunting per se, but I do want to locate and document as many historical features on our trapline as possible; both for the reasons already stated and as a means of protecting certain areas from future logging operations. Indeed, if, as a trapper, one finds something of historical significance, excavations and inspection of the site will result in the trapper being paid to be present while such work is performed, so there could be a financial benefit as well. It's always good to know your hunting area or trapline better anyway. Travel by foot or ATV is still important, but you can cover very large areas rapidly using a drone traveling at 10 m/sec! After the shot, as every big game hunter knows.This video tracks the progress as my wife and our oldest grandson prepare for and then field-dress a moose.Made in 1984, this Bombardier Bombi - passed down to me by my father - has been a restoration project for myself and my oldest grandson. Nearly completed its upgrades (Holley EFI yet to come), it was time to take it out on the trapline and give it a test.Owing to a recent injury, I had to remain in camp and was not able to accompany my grandson on this trip, but he sure had fun, as you will see. That included getting high-centered on a log and working his way out of that fix. Which Animals Investigate A Dead Bear? (4K) The Way to Native Chronicles 2023-08-31 | I hope you enjoy this, our channel's first foray into trail cam footage. This video records the wildlife activity around a bear we had to dispatch near our trapping cabin a while ago. It starts with two of our grandchildren locating the site with the bear's bones and then shows the cam footage.For us, not only is the trail cam video enjoyable to watch, but it also confirms the animals active in the area nearby. The ones that came to visit were a black bear, a fisher, a lynx and a timber wolf. Use the chapter markers embedded in this video to skip to the animals you are most interested in if you like. Since making the shift to all-4K videos, I waited until I could find a sufficiently capable 4K unit. I settled on a "Campark TC07 4K 60MP WiFi Solar Power Dual Lens Wildlife Camera Trail Camera" ordered direct from Campark website and am very pleased with the results. Not only does it give me the high-definition video and photos I want, it's capable of running year-round using only its solar batter (with standard battery backup).
