Area Disposal WhiteGMC Formula 7000 3amrepmike3 2024-06-22 | One of my favorites from all of my AZ trips is this little truck. A pretty well cared for, pocket sized Formula 7000 on a Whitegmc WXR. The sound of this truck is the epitome of 90s automated collection between that distinct pump whine and the loud, yet not overbearing exhaust note. As the years go on and more and more underperforming, overengineered junk is being put out in the North American market, its only furthered my appreciation for the clever, yet remarkably simple design of these trucks. Filmed in an open market, semi rural route that would have been a nightmare to film without Christians knowledge of the area.
Jacks Whitegmc WXLL Amrep Octo Front Loader 3amrepmike3 2024-03-23 | Not too long after Burrtec bought Cal Disposal, we were out to see what was on Cals routes, expecting to find Cals trucks freshly repainted into Burrtecs livery, but instead found this out finishing up its first load. Packed out at the end unfortunately. Only ever saw this truck doing residential bulk after this, and at a much slower pace, so this is all I have of it. Hopefully you enjoy this video, I got it edited and posted as quickly as I could.
Rainbow Disposal Crane Carrier COE2 Amrep ASL 3amrepmike3 2021-11-14 | An unusual truck to say the least. 1 of 1 COE2 side loader, something we likely wont see again. Managed to see this truck in person a few years back and grab some video. This was shortly after Republic took over the operations over at Rainbow. No idea what has since come of this truck, so any information on it would be great.
Some Fast Old Diesels 3amrepmike3 2021-03-06 | ESD is a no nonsense operation. Drivers set out with one thing in mind, and that's to get the trash picked up. Nothing fancy, nothing extra. Automated done the way it was envisioned from day one. As such it has definitely become one of my favorite cities to see on video. Here is a compilation of some of the faster trucks Ive run across in recent years. Yes, despite the stereotype of idle operations, a lot of drivers do revv at ESD. Or, they did anyway. The vast majority of, if not every single truck in this video have already been auctioned off & many of their newest Peterbilts are fast enough at idle that you don't even need to worry about that anymore. If you're a fan of automation, you're going to enjoy this video for sure.
The Mini Octo ASL 3amrepmike3 2020-08-22 | It's been just shy of a decade since I've posted a video filmed in Yorba Linda, and here I am, just up the road from where I grew up on the Tuesday route. Pretty cool to see that after all these years, this little truck and its twin are still part of the fleet even though they're well over 10 years old at this point.Thanks to the awesome driver. And no, he doesn't usually run it this quickly, he was just putting on a good show for us. What a treat!
The Spartan 300 Automated Side Loaders First Day on Route 3amrepmike3 2020-08-09 | Here's a quick video of Spartans newest product, the "300".A couple weeks ago we were invited over to their shop to see the truck in person, as well as meet the crew responsible for putting this project together. By chance, they'd actually just finished making the final adjustments to get the arm operational, and we were given the opportunity to be the first to run the arm that day. Then fast forward about 2 weeks and it was delivered to AC Sanitation for it's first run. Overall it did very well for its first day on route. There will be some adjustments & minor design changes made going forward based off what they saw on route on this day, and I'm excited to see where it goes from here. Patriot Volvo Curbtender 3amrepmike3 2019-12-11 | One of the trucks I enjoyed filming the most on this particular trip was this Volvo Curbtender. Definitely showing its age in this video with its slower operation and quirky 'undump' funtion, but entertaining nonetheless. This body & chassis combination looks particularly good in their old paint scheme, which unfortunately they changed to a generic solid blue with the new fleet they bought a couple years back.
2007 Mack LE w/ McNeilus M/A - 360 Video 3amrepmike3 2018-12-25 | Here is something Ive been meaning to do for a while but never got around to it for various reasons. That changed yesterday and I decided to get some video early Monday morning on my new route. While recording and editing the video, the lighting was just right, but after uploading it, its much darker and hard to see so Ill have to figure iut how to prevent that. I also have a bunch of daytime footage from my trailer park section that ill probably edit and post relatively soon for you all as well which should be a little easier to see whats going on.This video uses keyframes which provides a simple viewing experience. I tried pointing the camera in the direction I felt most would want to see at any given time, so let me know what you think. I do plan to upload some interactive 360 videos in the future though in which you have full control of camera angle at all times.Hopefully Ill be back in a Labrie Helping hand soon and Ill make a video of that to show just how much better of a body that is in basically every way. But for now, these junker McNeilus' are what were all stuck in.

A 1997 Peterbilt 320 Impac CSL Working Late in Blythe 3amrepmike3 2018-09-07 | Alex and I decided to come out here late one day fully expecting to find route completely done, simply with the intention of seeing if they've painted the trucks into CR&Rs colors or gotten anything else of interest in the yard lately. Turns out they were down some trucks and as a result, very far behind. We were fortunate enough to find this truck, one of their two low entry '97 Pete 320 Impacs helping out on a resi route alongside their newly acquired Pete 310 Amrep Octo. I would have gotten a lot more footage, however my camera died from an entire morning of filming prior to making our way to Blythe. It was pitch black out by the time all was said and done, which was really neat to see.It is neat to me that every single truck they owned (prior to CR&Rs ownership) had a different paint job than the previous. The other 320 Impac is mostly white too, however it has yellow and purple checkered flag patterns down the sides if I remember correctly. Maybe I'll see that on route some time too!I know its a slow process, but do keep in mind that this truck is designed with commercial collection in mind, the cart gripper is only an optional feature to make the truck more versatile.Hopefully you'll enjoy the sound of the Cummins diesel at high RPMs, because I sure loved hearing it while filming.Huge thank you to both drivers, very friendly and professional.

A Volvo WX42 Heil Rapid Rail from Patriot 3amrepmike3 2018-07-21 | Back before the boring new equipment showed up, sporting the boring new paint scheme, you could find some nifty trucks roaming the (otherwise) quiet streets of Prescott Valley. Or at least I think this was filmed in Prescott Valley..? Thats not important right now, whats important is that you enjoy the video.
Yuma Disposal - CCC Maxon Legal One 3amrepmike3 2018-04-28 | Yuma Disposal runs quite a neat fleet with a good variety of trucks, and in that fleet you can find 2 CCC Maxon Legal One front loaders. Luck was on our side early this morning as one of 2 front loaders that left was this truck seen here. They have a number of newer front loaders in their fleet as well so the very fact that one of the Maxons left was a huge relief.Now usually when you see this combo, you think of Scotts videos of EDI, where the drivers are hauling butt, revving them as hard as they'll allow. Not the case here. A much more relaxed, laid back process out here in Yuma. Collections here are more scattered as it's all open market, and judging by how few of their trucks left on this day, it's probably a pretty light route. A 3208 Cat powers this awesome ride, with those distinct, snappy revvs which build from an idle, to max RPM in an instant, and slows back to an idle just as abruptly. While it doesnt have that roar that newer Cat models have, but it certainly highlights the whine of the hydraulic pump which is something that all of us who prefer the classic equipment will surely appreciate. A thank you goes out to the very friendly driver who didnt even seem phased by us, admittedly creepily, approaching him in a pitch black alleyway while servicing his very first stop of the morning.
ESD Cleanup Part 1 ~ The Metals 3amrepmike3 2017-08-04 | About a year and a half ago I attended the ESD city cleanup to get some video of their soon-to-be-replaced diesel PakMors destroying some bulky household waste. The cleanup is made up of 4 or 5 trucks and a bunch of volunteers. Seen in this video is the truck dedicated to metal and was my favorite to watch. Another truck handled greenwaste and 2 or 3 more were dedicated for standard garbage. This event was quite a bit of fun to be at and has to be the easiest filming experience ive ever had! 1996 Ex-ESD Peterbilt 320 Amrep ASL Packing Hard 3amrepmike3 2017-06-24 | If you enjoy oldschool automation, you'll enjoy this video. Packing on the go, foot to floor in neutral while coasting up to carts has to be one of my favorite things to see, and there's certainly no shortage of it here.Desmond, Alex and I were in search of what I'm confident is a fromer city of San Diego Amrep that is still bumpin' around the routes the Victorville yard services. Luck being on our side, we found it pretty quickly too. It was closing in on the end of his first load while we were filming, and that being paired with what Id assume is a slower than normal packer were two factors leading up to a very entertaining operating style by this driver.Some interesting things about this truck include it being the first year that Amrep built the second generation arm and no longer made the "rail arm" following the patent lawsuit against them by Sunbelt, as well as this being the first year Peterbilt made the roomier, more boxy cabbed design we all recognize as the 320.A big thanks goes out to the driver.Thanks for watching and hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I do
1995 Whitegmc / Maxon Eagle Front Loader ~ Burrtec Waste & Recycling 3amrepmike3 2017-03-17 | The Riverside yard has a number of awesome trucks still running, however their best trucks are their older front loaders. All of which are spares. There are 3 barn door Maxon Eagle square bodies, one of which is a low entry wxll, the other 2 like the one featured here. Of the 3, this one was my lowest priority as its not totally original. This truck as well as a few others had been refurbished back around 2010ish, and as part of that, they put newer arms on them. And of the refurbished ones, this is the last one remaining. The 4th spare front loader, truck 1602, which is actually my favorite truck in the yard, and arguably one of my favorite front loaders still running in general is a very early White/Whitegmc Amrep Octo with the sloped body and small tucked away lift cylinders, and it absolutely screams. I have one terrible clip of that truck from a cellphone taken years ago that can be seen hereflickr.com/photos/42179080@N03/25388777244Why am I telling you this? Well because in passing by the yard several months ago, I happened to see that 1602 is still around when it passed me, drove into the yard and parked for the day. In the following 2 months I tried 10 times to film 1602 and never once did it leave the yard. Frustrating as its an hour each way.. however of the spare trucks they have, this one was the one I was fortunate enough to see running on one of those occasions. Truck 2494. A very unique sounding truck driven by a very friendly driver on a help route late one afternoon. Quite an enjoyable truck to see at work in its own right. Good speed - operated well - has a nice low growl when driving, but a very dominate whine when operating. Not really much else I have to say about it though other than I'm glad I was able to get something good out of all those trips which had me waiting hours at a time outside the yard.. lol oh and the driver in this truck said he was in 1602 exactly 2 week prior.. the same day I saw it park in the yard. CCC Amrep MSL Model w/ Working Hydraulics 3amrepmike3 2017-03-03 | Well guys.. the K'nex just weren't doin' it for me anymore.. Built primarily of wood with some metal components, the entire thing was built by me in my free time over the course of 2 1/2 years. This video is nothing like the more professional video I'd envisioned making for it, however I've just completed it and will be unable to make videos of it in the future for quite some time and decided to just throw something together real quickly while I'm still able. I figured you guys would enjoy seeing a terrible video over not seeing it all. I intended to do this outside but the wind kicked up and only got worse throughout the day, so I had to make it inside.The hydraulics are actually taken out of a Chrysler Sebring convertible, used to open and close the convertible top. They're what I decided to go with upon initially taking on this project and because of their size, I had to sacrifice many aspects of the trucks realism to accommodate them. All things considered, I think it came out pretty well. The hydraulics are more powerful than I'd ever need which is nice, however because of that, they're more than capable of tearing the whole hopper apart should the blade get jammed up, so I never packed anything rigid and will not at any point in the future either (sorry guys :P ) Plus I'm terrified of scratching it up after seeing how nice it came out. Some features not seen in the video include a tilting cab, suspension on all axles with a 2.5 inch range of motion, removable fuel/hydraulic fluid tank caps and yes the body does lift (by hand) to dump, however due to the light weight of the chassis, the front of the chassis tries to lift up if you do so. Neat feature, but not something you can really use unfortunately. Being that it's *now* more of a functional display model than it is a toy, I wasn't about to risk breaking it just for a quick dumping shot. You'll notice the thumbnail shows an exhaust, which it does have (also has a rain cap "flapper" to be added) but I due to me being in a hurry, I completely forgot to put it back on before making the video. It also has a 3-D printed CCC Badge, though I haven't had the time to properly prep it, paint and then put it in place. I will be making more visually appealing wheels for it some day using a lathe, and fully intended to in the coming weeks, however life has a funny way of changing on you, so that'll be put off for.. a long time. The ones on it now really don't look too bad IMO so I'm not too upset. I'll be painting the final wheels white anyhow as that's how the old Western Waste trucks were done up. So Mike, what was the hardest part of building this? Well.. the tailgate actually. I couldn't even count the number of times I dropped everything and went back to the house after several choice words. I wanted to keep the realism within reason, yet I didn't want to make it fragile or unappealing visually. So I settled with what you see in the final clip. A fairly realistic latching mechanism that I'm very happy with. Also having no welding experience made that a fun time, and a rather amusing one for my dad I would imagine, being that he was watching me to make sure I didn't blow the garage to pieces..The whole thing was done by sight too. No measurements were taken to try to get the right scale, I just started by finding a wheel size that was something I thought I could work with and from there it was one piece at a time. The whole thing was supposed to be very basic, as light weight as you could reasonably achieve and in no way fragile. It was intended to be something I could play with at any time. That slowly changed as I went for 2 reasons. The first being my inability to half-ass something, and the second being that I'm 24 now.. I don't need to be playing trashman anymore when I can just go BE a trashman. Though running an early 80's CCC low entry Centurion with a square body Amrep MSL is sadly something I can't just simply go do lolWhy Western Waste? I've always had a love for the company. No real reason though, probably just as simple as the paint scheme capturing my imagination as a kid. Later on after learning about the companies history I grew to appreciate them all that much more. A huge thanks goes to those of you who helped me with some of the finer details. Alan for designing the CCC badge, Alex for printing it (as well as some of the building of components in it's earliest stages), and Bryn for making the awesome sign boards and bringing life into that low quality WW logo I sent you. It came out amazing. And of course my dad who somehow has an answer to absolutely every question I could think to ask him when I hit a snag.Enjoy guys, it was tough to keep quiet about with how excited I am about it. One day I'll make a nicer video I'm sure. Oh, and maybe one day a functional front loader of the same vintage will give this truck some company.. or a rear loader? who knows. I've got more ideas than time.....and money........and patience.
City of Visalia Split-Body Heil Formula 7000 Garbage Truck 3amrepmike3 2017-02-18 | As many of you may remember, several years ago Scott and I found our way up into Visalia to get some video of their unique trucks. After returning home from that trip we both found ourselves wishing we'd gotten a little more video of their split trucks. Well, recently I had the opportunity to do just that. Fellow YouTuber and great friend of mine, Bryn of Thrash 'N' Trash Productions decided it was time to get back down to Southern California and made the nearly 1300 mile drive (one way) to Temecula. For a solid 2 weeks we made our way through SoCal finding and filming many of the unique trucks to this region. This truck, filmed on a Monday of week 2 wasn't even in the plans at all, however our morning in Bakersfield started out so quickly and everything just fell into place, having found the couple trucks we'd been seeking out by 9am leaving us with the rest of the day to just aimlessly wander. Many, many miles and a couple trucks later we find this truck, an excellent example of the Formula 7000 split-body, designed for divided carts. An extremely fast operator behind the wheel shows that these aren't all destined to be slow as many filmed in the past have been. And to top things off, Visalia has their unusual method of splitting waste. They're single stream as virtually everyone else is these days, but one side of the cart is for trash and the other recycling. Hopefully you'll enjoy this footage of what has to be one of my favorite 7000s out there. The city also took ownership of a handful of Peterbilt 320 Split Body F7000s as well in late 2010 or early 2011 and to my knowledge, those were some of the last ones Heil made before completely discontinuing the body. The city is looking into going with the industry standard 3-cart system in the future, but it's my understanding that no solid plans have been put in place just yet. It'll likely happen as soon as these trucks come up for retirement I'd imagine. Visalia is known to keep trucks for a good 15 years or more, so I don't expect anything to happen for a few more years personally. Thanks to the driver, and to everyone for watching. Various Trucks - 1 Hour of Garbage Trucks In Action 3amrepmike3 2017-02-04 | Often times I'll try to film a truck and I'll only get a couple clips before losing the truck, or any number of things preventing me from getting a full video. In some cases I have extra clips left over after editing a video which I just don't really want to get rid of. So I've just decided to make *two* massive videos of all of those clips for anyone who really just doesn't have anything to do and wants to pass some time. I'll post the second part some time soon, and I'll likely start saving clips for a part 3 as I get them, though it'll take a long time as some of these clips in here are from as far back as 2013, when I first decided to do this.
On Route & Unloading ~ Sanitary Disposal Whitegmc Heil Rapid Rail #2 3amrepmike3 2016-12-10 | Here we have a company that I visited quite a while back, and while doing so I got to meet the owner of the company and take pictures of the fleet. More recently I was back in the area and made a point to try to stop and film here. I can't say enough good things about everyone working for this company, from the owner to the drivers, all the way down to the very friendly staff at their own transfer station. So I thank you all for that.Little background on many of their trucks. Most, if not all of their Rapid Rails are actually ex-WMX chassis. They got a number of bodies from a nearby city who sold them off, then placed them on these early-mid 90s chassis. Many of these bodies were previously paired to Python arms, but were changed to Rapid Rails, much to my approval. They also had in the past a number of older Volvo Curbtenders too, but it would seem that those have since been retired and replaced with Automizers. You can however see them on my Flickr page from my first visit a couple years back. They also had an ex-CDS Peterbilt 320 Amrep ASL, but didn't care for the Amrep and placed one of their Rapid Rails on the 320 chassis instead. You just have to love how willing they are to completely customize everything to fit their needs. Though between you and me, I wish they'd kept the Amrep ;) And yes, the large hopper shield is a customization of theirs as well, as it's windy year 'round out here and that helps to prevent trash from blowing out when the arm is cycling. Clemens Waste Removal Condor Curbtender in the Snow 3amrepmike3 2016-11-26 | A totally unexpected find while driving through the middle of nowhere forest. Seeing carts I didnt recognize only to pull up to one and see Clemen Waste Removal on the lids. Not too often we're totally unsure of what to find when looking through an area so it was kind of fun. Though a very simple truck, this little Ex-Phoenix truck was a lot of fun to watch handle this route. From extremely hot Arizona deserts to a nice cool mountain town in the snow, this truck has seen it all. A big thanks goes out to an exceptionally friendly driver, and of course everyone for stopping by and watching.
Mack LE Wittke Low Body w/ Curotto Can - Cart Lines 3amrepmike3 2016-10-22 | Found this truck in a neat area not too long ago and decided to get some video. One of my favorite body styles that Wittke made, which I've just been calling a "low body" lately. Never been a fan of the much taller bodies which are flush with the hoppers. Though my absolute favorite has to be the low body with the smooth hopper walls.Could have had a lot more but I spent most of the time lining the carts up for him. Everyone here just clumps their carts up in giant groups and it has to be awful for drivers..
The Beast ~ An 80s Impac Commercial Side Loader on Residential Garbage 3amrepmike3 2016-10-08 | While on my trip a while back when looking for the CCC IRL's, I had made my way a bit further north through a couple of towns I had been curious about. But before I could even get out of the town of Gunnison where the IRL was filmed, this truck comes flying down the highway in the opposite direction! A complete surprise that made my day. Being that it was a winding 2-lane road with no shoulder and many cars, I knew that turning around was hopeless so I continued on for a bit in hopes of finding a side road, but the next road a couple minutes up was actually the first road to an entire little city, Manti City. The carts were all blank, but that's nothing unusual in Utah so I didn't confirm that this was where the CSL was running, and it also seemed odd that a CSL would run in a town that didn't have CSL dumpsters. Later I began noticing the dirt marks left on the carts by the grippers and that's what told me this had to be where it runs. To my surprise, there was still a lot of route left at nearly 2pm when I arrived. I figured it'd be hopeless to find a city run operation out past noon in a small town like this, but that wasn't the case as they actually do the entire city on Tuesday. Luck being on my side, it turned out that the landfill was right down the road and no more than 30 minutes passed before I found him picking up where he left off. And only upon seeing it on route did I notice that it was a mid-80s White, and not a Whitegmc as I'd assumed when I saw the blue badge on the highway. Unfortunately my only clip of him collecting a 300 gallon container was ruined by sudden, constant blasts of strong wind, so I didn't add that clip.A huge thanks goes out to a very friendly driver, I had a blast getting video of your (awesome sounding) truckLittle side note, on my Socal Maxon video I had initially thought it was powered by an L10 Cummins, and was proven wrong. I do however feel a little more comfortable saying that the truck in this video sure sounds like an L10 to me. Anyone who could confirm or deny that is encouraged to let me know. Thanks for watchingUpdate: As of about a month after posting this video, this truck has officially been placed out of service do to a major drive train failure. Unfortunate for sure, but it makes me even happier I managed to find it when I did.
1999 Crane Carrier Company Integrated Rear Loader (CCC IRL) 3amrepmike3 2016-09-02 | It's been a long time coming for this video. For several years I've known that White's Sanitation owns 3 of these beasts, and I've been wanting to make my way out to this beautiful part of Utah to see them for quite some time. A few months back I had to be in Colorado, and on my way I passed by their routes and I was extremely happy to find they still ran these! A good chunk of the route was still full, however to my disappointment, the truck was parked and nobody was around. I got a couple pictures of it and headed to nearby towns to see what else was to be found (stay tuned for that). After filming for a little over an hour just up the road in the nearby town, I came back to check on the IRL only to find it gone and the rest of the towns route finished. Fast forward to this week, Alex and I were talking and the idea of making a trip out here was brought up and went from "I'd like to go to Utah" to "Lets go to Utah" pretty quickly, and so we did just that. Luck being on our side, very shortly after getting to the town in which I knew an IRL ran in, the truck comes around the bend in the highway way up ahead of us to get the first stop in town. The crew were extremely friendly and made a fun experience that much better, so a huge thanks goes out to them.I also did something a little different with this video. Usually I choose my favorite clips and make a nice little video of just the better clips, but this time I decided not to. With this truck I just went ahead and added every single clip I took into this video since I knew many of you would love to see much more than a 10 minute video. Also made sure to get a good few driving shots to show off how mean this thing looks rollin' down the road!Anyway, enjoy what is probably my favorite rear load video I've made thus far, and arguably one of the coolest trucks I've ever had the privilege to share with you.
D&O & Valley - Peterbilt 320 Heil Starrs 3amrepmike3 2016-08-27 | I felt like getting back to posting some from the Oregon trip, so here is my footage of D&O and Valley's Heil StarrsI really would have loved to have gotten more video of truck 2 (and truck 1) but truck 2 was done with the area after the couple of clips I managed to get. I was fortunate enough to film plenty of the newer Starr which was also surprisingly fun to watch. The Manual Route ~ Autocar ACX - FF Gomez Front Loader w/ Curotto Can 3amrepmike3 2016-08-18 | This video is something special for me, as it's almost as if it was taken right from my childhood. My first experiences with Curotto Cans (and Heil Autocans/STS Flares) was of them mounted to old ribbed body WMX front loaders collecting routes of nothing but customer-provided manual bins for greenwaste in Moreno Valley. Ever since then, I've always gotten a kick out of seeing automated trucks dumping manual bins. Thanks to a very friendly driver, I got to make a video of just that, an entire route which is more-or-less automated. Thanks again to the driver for allowing us to get some video. My hats off to every last one of these guys for doing this job out in this environment.
Waste Management Heil Freedom with Curotto 3amrepmike3 2016-07-27 | Back in 2012 I attended Waste Expo and caught wind of this new concept Curotto Can being demo'd in Moreno Valley. Fast forward 3 years and I see this Heil in the yard with a Curotto and didnt think much of it, other than it being odd for Socal to have a new Heil. Never once did the idea of this being the demo unit cross my mind, and then Wmmaster626 and WesternWasteManagement took a trip out my way to film it and it hit me. Couldn't believe I'd never put the puzzle together myself hahaSo a thanks to those two for route info. Easily my favorite truck in my yard. Very easy on the eye, with a bit of an oldschool feel to it. The non-cng tailgate is a plus as I like the slim version much more. Operated by an expert (although not the driver filmed by the others) and all around a fun day filming this. A Shiny New McNeilus M-ASL Garbage Truck 3amrepmike3 2016-07-13 | Recently I found myself needing to be in Colorado to meet with family, and rather than take a plane there, I decided to make the drive out instead. While out I added Utah, Colorado and New Mexico to the list of states I've filmed in, also getting a few clips in Arizona to finish the trip off.Naturally while in Colorado, I met up with this stranger since he collects right down the street from where my grandparents live. Made for a fun day, right up until my camera died. Thanks to the super duper nice driver for showing off the truck for a while.
Peterbilt Leach 2RIII Rear Load Garbage Truck 3amrepmike3 2016-06-24 | About a year ago now Alex, Alan and I decided to take a last minute trip to Prescott, because why not? I told Christian about it and he joined in on the trip too, making for an entertaining day. Here is my video of the Leach handling the *mostly* carted residential trash in the Prescott Valley. A nice change of pace from the normal automated trucks run by the other haulers in the region. Big thanks goes out to an exceptionally nice crew for making this possible.

Two Waste Management Volvo Amrep Octos 3amrepmike3 2016-05-06 | This is one of my favorite videos I've made in recent months, the 2 Volvo Amrep Octo ASLs on one of my favorite routes found in California City. After receiving a tip from Aaron that California City was now serviced by WM, Alex looked around on Bing Maps and found the new WM yard out here. After seeing that they ran a Volvo Octo, Autocar Python and Mack LE Octo for residential and the only truck for commercial was a Volvo Octo FL (which turns out to be an Edge) we decided to head out here almost immediately. Upon arrival we found that the Python was back in the main yard in Palmdale and another Octo ASL was out here as a spare. Being that these are 2 of only a few WX Octos WM has left, that was a welcomed surprise. As it turns out, they've sent a WXLL McNeilus FL out here from Corona as the front-line commercial truck, so we never got to see the main truck we came for, the Edge. We did however find this Amrep (101005) handling the trash. After filming 101005 for a fair bit, the truck developed a hydraulic issue and so he was forced to take it in and pull the spare out. That was bad news for him, but awesome news for us as it meant we got to see both of the Octos running the same route. It's definitely no surprise why 101002 is the spare either. Having fire damage to the body, missing grille and a rough arm made it a good candidate for the position, but it was definitely a fun one to see on route.Since filming, the Python has been sent back to California City and only one Octo now runs these routes, but will likely be retired some time soon. Having passed through here 2 times after filming this, we have still never been lucky enough to see the Edge front loader on route.A big thanks goes to the the driver and to everyone for watching.
Republics New N3 3amrepmike3 2016-04-09 | So after all of these years, Republic finally gave in and put their name on a shiny new Amrep N3. Well, in the old Rainbow Disposal yard anyhow. It looks really nice with the visor, and I was excited to see that it has a normal exhaust (and flapper) without that silly looking vent on the pipe. Always have hated those things. That all added to by the surprisingly nice sound this truck has. All around very pleased with their new truck. Hopefully what I'm hearing is true and more will be on their way in the near future. Special thanks to the driver of this awesome truck.
Gomez Front Loaders - Manual Garbage Collection 3amrepmike3 2016-04-03 | First off, big thanks to the exceptionally cool drivers of these trucks.In several small unincorporated zones in San Bernardino you can find routes that are still full manual. We recently heard that San Bernardino went up for bid and (thankfully) the winner was Burrtec. If what I'm told is true, then these unincorporated zones will be automated when Burrtec officially takes over the city routes, so we wanted to get some video before things change. I do hope to return for manual recycle at some point as we quite literally found him on his last stop.Thanks again to the drivers and hopefully you enjoyed the video

Waste Management Mack LE Amrep Automated Side Load Garbage Truck 3amrepmike3 2016-03-05 | So a good while back Alex and I filmed this awesome little truck in the Thousand Oaks area handling the recycling and being driven by an exceptionally nice driver. Since filming this, a few others have gone to this route and made videos as well, so you're probably familiar with the truck. A beautifully reconditioned and very well maintained Mack LE Amrep ASL. Allied Waste Services of Calexico, CA 3amrepmike3 2016-02-09 | In a nice, medium sized border town between California and Mexico you can find Republic Services operating their fleet of Allied Waste branded Pythons and Autoreaches, as well as their one new Heil Rapid Rail. The Autoreach however never made it into this video.Somewhere in the mid-2000's, Allied Waste purchased the dominant hauler of the region, Valley Environment Services. Ever since they've been a big player in Imperial County. Little fun fact for the cart fans out there; ever seen a picture of a Python collecting an AW stamped Roto? This is where it was from as this is the only yard where Allied Waste bought Rotos, but only for a short time following the purchase of Valley Environmental.As always, thanks to the drivers.Enjoy!

My 2016 Garbage Truck Adventure (32 Truck Compilation) 3amrepmike3 2016-01-23 | So myself and 4 others decided that a trip through Oregon and parts of California would be a fun thing to do, and so at the beginning of January we did just that. A 2 week adventure that proved to be nonstop fun from start to finish. In this video you'll see one clip of everything I managed to find during that time. D&Os Peterbilt 310 Heil Curve Shell Formula 7000 Garbage Truck 3amrepmike3 2016-01-16 | On my most recent trip which brought me through much of Oregon I made a point to stop by D&O in Salem Oregon. Among their current fleet is this beautifully kept Peterbilt / Heil side loader. This truck was an absolute surprise to see as I'd assumed it was long gone. Sure enough I happened to see this truck through the trees and was thrilled at what I saw. Made my last several attempts to find it in the past couple years worthwhile.A little slow but if you appreciate the truck for what it is, you'll certainly enjoy the video. A special thanks to D&O and all of their exceptionally nice drivers for making this a great day. Safe to say that D&O is one of, if not my favorite hauler in Oregon now.

CWS Front Load Garbage Truck Collecting Greens 3amrepmike3 2015-12-19 | These are easily some of my favorite front loaders running today, and of those that do the manual greens routes in Poway, this one has to be my favorite. The whole truck just looks mean, especially coming over the hill in the first clip. Between that, the fast paced collecting and the hard revving, this truck has a very "oldschool" feel to it, even if it is only a Volvo/CWS. Also notice the newly added air conditioning units on all of these trucks. I actually like the new look quite a bit. Anyways, this is all I got of this truck for now as we caught him right at the end of his route. Or actually he caught us in a sort of way. We didn't even know there was remaining route over here and by coincidence he ended up following us here. Turned out perfect for a nice 10 minute video though! And yes, I've since cleaned the lens on my camera :PSpecial thanks to the super friendly driver for letting us film!

Mid-State Solid Waste & Recycling 3amrepmike3 2015-11-21 | For a long time I've been wanting to visit this company to see what trucks they still run. I finally got the opportunity to do so, however a little too late for what I was hoping. It seems the old Amrep ASLs have recently been put out of service, but the main trucks I wanted to see were the WhiteGMC Rapid Rails. Turns out they still have them, but they're not the fastest trucks around to say the least. And unfortunately the CWS front loader didnt leave for route on this day. It is neat though that they have an ex-ESD Elliptical (since old San Diego trucks are so rarely bought locally as they're diesels) and they just recently put an old LA City Octo body on a brand new diesel powered 320, which looks fantastic in their colors. Thanks to each of the drivers
