Accumula Town - Pokémon B/W (Remastered)
updated
Luigi's Mansion has one of my favourite OSTs of all time. However, most of the tracks are variations of the main theme. As such, I've decided to remix a plethora of tracks mashed together into this Halloween special! I even included a bit of the Mario Kart version, which was ironically my introduction to Luigi's Mansion.
Please enjoy!

I've remixed this theme twice already. However, I felt like I could revisit the soundtrack and create "definitive" versions of my remixes. This version is sort of a mix of my two previous remixes, plus some original stuff, of course all polished and satisfying to listen to. I think I knocked it out of the park and I'm very excited to work on more Corpse Party themes!
I decided to remix the first part of the track more faithfully, which was really challenging. There's almost no MIDIs of this track online, and the ones that exist aren't quite what I was looking for. Therefore, this remix was created without using any MIDI, which I am really proud of. The track is very, very complex, with multiple layers of bass, drums, harmonies, and melodies. I think I was able to get most of them right. My favourite part of the original track is the one that starts at 0:43. To me, it's musical perfection! I just adore the chord progression, melody, counter-melody, all of it. I like my version even more, the bass is soooo satisfying.
Fun fact, Seiko from Corpse Party is the reason my channel's name starts with Seii. :)

Spoilers for the show & movie below!
This is "Let Us Adore You," and it is sung by White, Yellow, and Blue Diamonds, as well as Spinel. It's a song about healing, acceptance, and the value of finding a new purpose, as the Diamonds offer Spinel a new home and a fresh start. I think it's quite a powerful message that most everyone, regardless of their past, can heal, grow, and be loved. I decided to join both Let Us Adore You and its reprise in this remix, as the're basically the same song, just divided in two.
The remix starts with a vintage, vinyl-like part to it, referencing the original track's vibe. Then, at 00:18, I begin the actual remix. It follows many of the staples of the Future Bass genre. Loud synths, powerful bass, and crisp drumlines. It's a genre I have been meaning to delve into, but previously lacked the skill to do so. At 00:36, I experiment with vocal chops, another staple of Future Bass. I've always loved vocal chop sections and composing one was not only a challenge but also a really fun experience. At 01:08, I give listeners a break and sprinkle in my usual jazzy style with a small rendition of the show's main theme. This break divides the song, sung by the Diamonds to Steven (hence the reference to "We Are The Crystal Gems"), and its reprise, sung to Spinel, who comes in at 01:26. Then, at 02:03, I decided to create an original section, using existing vocals and repurposing them to fit new chords. This is something I love to do, and the vocals in Steven Universe are often so expertly created that they fit multiple chord sequences. The last noteworthy section is the one that begins at 02:49. It's an instrumental rendition of the whole song which begins with a powerful drop and is accompanied by more vocal chops. I wanted to give the remix a nice climax and pay-off, something easy to listen to. Finally, the remix ends similarly to the original song. I topped it all off with a juicy major 7th chord that becomes a major 9th. Classic Steven Universe stuff.

Happy 2024! I’m thrilled to kick off the new year with the yearly remix of my favourite theme from the Pokémon franchise. As you can tell, this video is special. It features custom artwork created specifically for the channel! Moving forward, I plan to commission new artwork for every video of mine, giving my channel more of an identity!
Anyway! Back in 2018, I attempted to create a Lo-fi remix of Eterna City (link below), but didn’t quite achieve the results I wanted. I revisited this project; this is the result. I must say, I believe I nailed it this time. This is the first proper Lo-fi piece I’ve ever composed, and I am incredibly proud of it. I think it sounds quite nice and high-quality; what do you think?
Being a remake of an old remix of mine, I kept most of the structure intact, making changes where I thought they were necessary. The most noticeable improvement, to me, is the general Lo-fi vibe and the blending of every sample and instrument. This is the first time that I’ve listened to a remix of mine and really thought “wow, this sounds professional.” I am so, so happy with this. I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I enjoyed creating it!

I've recently played all seasons of the game and it reminded me of just how much I adore the franchise. I felt an instant connection to the characters once more and decided to create this tribute to a series I feel shaped me a tad.
I decided to turn the original theme into a fully realised song, adding new sections, changing some of the lyrics, and creating a brand-new backing track. The vocals were re-done from scratch, too, using SynthV. I really hope you enjoy!
By the way, here's a link to the old version of this song: youtu.be/_6xa-48CQ_s
❖ Lyrics ❖
Never mind the darkness
Never mind the storm
Never mind the blood red moon
The night will be over soon
The night will be over soon
Brush away the sorrow
Brush away the tears
Sing away your heavy heart
The storm will be passing soon
(Will be passing soon, will be passing soon)
The storm will be passing soon
The storm will be passing soon
(Will be passing soon, will be passing soon)
For every night goes quiet
And every moon grows blue
Beyond the dark, comes something new
The sun will be rising soon
(Will be rising soon)The sun will be rising soon
(Will be rising soon)The sun will be rising soon
The sun will be rising soon

❖ Lyrics ❖
When I first laid my eyes on you
Little crossed my mind, sure
Yet, as our days passed
I was left wishing for more, more, more
Because your smile captivated
Your eyes fascinated
And I couldn't look away
That's when I knew you were special
Feelings start to wrestle
And I realised
I may be falling in love
I don't know what to say (To say)
But I will try anyway (Anyway)
Every time I'm with you
I know all is okay
Your voice is music to me (To me)
Your speech is my melody (Melody)
A symphony I adore
'Cause you're the one I've been waiting for
Mm-mmmm
Mm-mmmm
Life feels worth it
Oh, at long last
Got me forgetting
All about my past
So, I thank you for being you
I can't imagine what you've gone through
I promise to be here for you
Even when things get rough
I'll be here too (I'll be here too)
You know it is true (You know it is true)
I swear that I'll
Treat you right
With love and care
'Cause there's no one like you out there
That's how I know
You are special
On every freakin' level
And I realised (Realised)
I am kind of in love
I don't know what to say (To say)
But I will try anyway (Anyway)
Every time I'm with you
I know all is okay
Your voice is music to me (To me)
Your speech is my melody (Melody)
A symphony I adore
'Cause you're the one I've been waiting for
(Waiting for, waiting for, waiting for, waiting for)
Mm-mmmm
Mm-mmmm
Life ain't easy
To us both
But I wanna protect you
So that's my oath
I confided in you
Like no one before
Since you seem to shake me
To my core
Oh, if you want to
Take things slow
I won't leave, I'll wait all the time to show (Baby)
You're my tomorrow
(My tomorrow, my tomorrow, my tomorrow)
I do feel safe
With you by my side
And God knows I tried
To push these feelings away (Push these feelings away)
But you're just too good
You're too special
So I've stepped on the pedal
'Cause I realised
I really am in love!
Let's travel, explore it all (It all)
From Santa Fe to the French (To the French)
From the Everest summit
To Mariana Trench
We can visit the Great Wall (Great Wall)
Or simply shop at the mall (Give me a call)
With you nothing is a bore
('Cause you're the one I've been waiting for)
I hope you feel the same way (Same way)
Let's make the most of today (Of today)
Our whole lives await
My future fiancé
Your beauty cannot be beat (Be beat)
Your heart and soul are so sweet (They're so sweet)
My second half evermore
(You are the one I've been waiting for)
I've been hurt before, whoa
(Been hurt before, been hurt before, been hurt before, been hurt before)
You're fixing what's not yours to fix
My love, I will grow
(Oh, I will grow, oh, I will grow, oh, I will grow, oh, I will grow)
Oh, with you by my side (I feel alive)
I feel alive, I will survive!
Sorry for the cliché song
But my love is just too strong
I feel like I've known you forever
And this wondrous endeavour
Is how I realised
I truly am in love!
You take my whole breath away
Still, I know just what to say
Every time I'm with you
Everything is okay
Your voice is music to me
It's my favourite melody
And I simply can't ignore
(You were the one I'd been waiting for)
I know you felt the same way
We made the most of our days
You created emotions
That I can't convey
Your heart illuminates all
I felt I would never fall
My path was lit up and pearled
I thank you for all you've done
'Cause, babe, you were my entire world!
I'm still here for you (Mm-mmmm)
Because my love is true (Mm-mmmm)

Solaceon Town is an incredibly complex piece of music that constantly blows me away. Now, this remix might sound a little more empty than the other Chiptune remixes I've posted. That's because this track *actually* respects the limits imposed by the GBC soundchip. This means that, technically, it could be played on an actual GameBoy!
I'm really proud of this one, especially how I managed to turn such a complex track into a GBC-compatible one. Enjoy!

I tackled Route 225 this time and, boy, lemme tell you. It was HARD. This is a very complex track with lots of things going on. Apart from the obvious cheesy 80s synth, there's tons of layers to this with countermelodies and harmonies which really help the track feel as full as it does. I kept all of that and tried to improve the track by adding more and changing the existing lines a bit. I hope you enjoy it!

This time, my second favourite, Canalave City! I think this one came out even better than Eterna, and that's saying a lot! I'm super satisfied with the result. This is a reimagination of the original Eterna City track, from Pokémon DPPT. This means that it's not really a remaster or a remix. Instead, I used original DS samples to compose what I think Eterna City could sound like if it were composed later in the DS lifetime, like in Pokémon B2W2, for instance! I'm really proud of how this came out, and I hope you enjoy it!

Hiya! Decided to faithfully recreate Grasswalk, but with a twist. The track is now in A Major, as opposed to the original A Minor! I recreated the track note by note, instrument by instrument, using the original samples. No cheating or shortcuts! After that, I started getting creative and turning the track from minor to major. I recently started playing MK8D on Twitch (link below!), and I've been having a blast with it. This track stood out to me as really, really good. It might be my favourite Super Mario theme of all time, no exaggerations. Doing this theme justice is a massive undertaking, but I hope I succeeded! I really leaned into the jazzy style for this one, coupled with vibrant and lively instruments and rhythmic sequences. I also added a piano, as the original doesn't contain one!

I'm not going to attempt to analyse this track as in-depth as I've been analysing the other ones, simply because I don't trust my skills to do it justice. Hitomi Satō knew what she was doing and I can only aspire to reach her skill level one day.
What I can talk about is what my goals where with this track. The original has a clear and dominant bossa nova syncopation to it, which I kept and tried to amplify using the percussion; specifically, the high hats and cymbals. Additionally, the original has a melody that uses a lot of staccato notes, which works with the DS soundbank, but doesn't sound that good with real instruments. I did keep it, but I also added some more fluidity using slides and legato notes to make the melody sound a lot more natural. There's a lot going on with the countermelody played by the piano throughout the whole track, so I also had to consider how to give that instrument its proper space to play without muffling other instruments. It wasn't easy, but I think I managed to achieve a good balance. I hope you enjoy this arrangement!

It's a very unique hometown track, much like Aspertia City from B2W2. Sinnoh's jazz influences begin as early as this track, which causes it to sound distinct from the usual calm and passive hometown tracks that Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn had brought.
One of my goals with this track was to create a clear contrast between orchestral sections and smooth, jazz-heavy section present in the middle. This is done by using vastly different instruments, such as the clarinet and the string ensemble for the orchestral sections, and the palm muted guitar and electric piano for the other section; I even used different basses for each section, whilst the original used the upright acoustic bass throughout the whole track.
As per usual, the chords used are a big highlight to me. Let's talk about that jazzy section at 0:23, shall we? It starts very simple, with a C chord. However, the next chord, A°/E♭, is quite tense, something that's completely unexpected to the listener. Then, the sequence repeats, except the final chord is a Dm(add11) chord, which transitions nicely to the next section. Speaking of transitions, I absolutely ADORE the four descending notes originally used by the piano to transition to the next section (F-E-D-C), so I really highlighted them here in a very satisfying way.
Jumping ahead to 0:47, the original track uses a vibraphone to play this part. I find it to be a bit anti-climatic, though my rendition has a bit more intensity to it, being far. As such, I used a cello to really accentuate what I consider to be the main melody of this track. The chord progression here, albeit common in the jazz world, is magnificent: C - C7/B♭ - (C7) - F - (F/C), and a beautiful F minor to end. All in all, an excellent climax to the track that I chose to accentuate in my version.

Some of the chord progressions in this track are purely genius. Those C♯7 chords at around 0:11 and 0:28 break the chorus and post-chorus really nicely with some tension between each half.
The track's bridge starts really strongly at 0:36 with a phenomenal chord progression of A - Am6 - G♯m7 - G♯m7b5. Gō Ichinose made a conscious choice to use the Am6 chord instead of a simple A minor chord, as well as adding a G♯m7b5 for more tension, as the track would've been perfectly fine with simply the G♯m7. The bridge then goes into its second half, which starts similar but, out of nowhere, hits us with a fast G♯m7 - G♯m7b5 - C♯7/G♯ sequence that just gives me life. Pure genius. The bridge finalises with a smooth return to the intro — which, itself, uses chords that have nothing to do with the main track's E major key — by making use of F♯m7, B7/F♯, and returning to Fmaj7. Brilliant.
My goal with this track was mostly to just update it to modern sounds, as I wasn't super satisfied with the BD/SP version. I did make some changes, though, that I felt would benefit the track, such as adding an acoustic guitar backing to the whole track and using the glockenspiel for a subtle emphasis on the melody. All in all, I'm extremely satisfied with the result!
Arko, also a really awesome musician, helped by providing me with the video's background! Check her channel out: youtube.com/c/arkovgm

As always, I tried my best to keep the vibe of the original track, whilst adding my own twist and elements to it. This proved to be quite difficult as the original track is already quite complete. The lack of instruments used was also a big factor when composing this, though I got used to it after some hours of work. Hope you enjoy my rendition!

This is the theme that plays on Sinnoh's first big city, Jubilife. It's quite jazzy, so I amped up the jazz with this cover, using some horns intead of the original dulcimer. I also added some new small melody lines to the piano and sax to add some flavor to the track.
Overall, this didn't change the original that much, which is what I expect the remakes to do with the OST. I don't think the remakes will use a sax for the melody line, but... one can dream, right?

This theme plays on the three lakes of Sinnoh: Verity, Acuity and Valor. It's also heavily associated with Sinnoh's lake guardians legendary trio: Mesprit, Uxie and Azelf. The lakes themselves are mystic and sacred locations, which was the focus of this rendition of the theme.
This isn't a 'prediction' of what the lake theme will be in Legends: Arceus, if there even is one, but more of a 'this is the way I'd do it' track. The game is set in old Sinnoh, hence the heavy Japanese influence on the theme. I also made use of some of the chords of the L:A tracks shown in the trailer; those became the beginning section of this track and part of the piano line around the midpoint.
I really stepped out of my comfort zone with this one; I don't usually do orchestral tracks and I don't try to cover tracks of games that aren't even out, but this is an exception. I tried really hard and, for that, I hope this video does well!

This is the track that plays during the first level of the game! It's quite melancholic and really sets the tone for the game very well. To match the silly part of the game, the piece has some quirky elements which I tried to bring out as I made this remix.
I kept the original sneaky vibe with this remix and added to it with some jazz improv, something I love to do in my tracks. The instruments I picked complement this quite well, especially the piano, sax and pizzicato strings. I also added a bit of PvZ 2's version of this track to my version, since I honestly love how quirky and silly-sounding it is. As for the sound effects, I chose to tell a story with this one. It shouldn't be too hard to get. ;)
Anyway, there's not much else to say about this track. It is brilliantly composed and will always be one of my favorite videogame themes.

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
This track plays whenever the Shadow appears on the game. It's obviously a remix of "Ooh, Wilfre!" from the first two games, despite not being related to him at all, in Two Realms. This version is a lot less mischievous and menacing and went for a more somber vibe, which I personally consider a small downgrade. The original track is also very short and repetitive, so it was quite hard to find extra material to extend and compose more sections. Still, this is probably my favorite track from Two Realms, followed by Rapoville.
I started by adding the iconic drawbar organ to the initial section, as it felt a bit too barren with the DS soundfont. It adds a bit more bass the original lacks, since the reverb on it makes it so that it doesn't need it. I added the organ at 00:22 for the same reason. For the main instrument of the first section, I opted to use two different samples: the Marimba and the Electric Keys. They don't sound very similar to the original synth used, but their sound is used a lot in the DS games, so I chose to follow that path. The original drum break section at 00:33 only has two bars of length, but I decided to add two extra bars and use the Raposa Village drum intro to transition into the following section. Next, comes one of the two climaxes of the track (meanwhile, the original only has this one); the distortion guitar really adds to the section as a filler with a counter-melody. Following that, at 00:46, is an original section inspired by the original "Ooh, Wilfre!" theme; it then transitions into the actual theme. Then, I decided that it would be fitting to add a bit of Salem's theme, as it's the theme of Shadow, and not just Wilfre. I added Salem's bassline and composed a short Marimba line to then transition to the second climax, which serves the same purpose in Salem's original theme. Once again, the distortion guitar plays the counter-melody while the strings play the main line. Finally, I prepare a bridge to loop by re-using the initial section, but changing its melody to one of the sections in "Shadow Showdown," ending the track and completing my usage of the three themes related to the Shadow characters in the DS games.
While "Ooh, Wilfre!" and "Salem" are some of my absolute favorite themes of the franchise, adapting their sections into this track without making it sound too repetitive or too much like the originals was one hell of a challenge. I tried adding some more sections composed by me, so it wasn't only reused sections, and I think it worked out well enough. I'd still like to add more new sections and have a greater balance between old and new, so I'll keep it in mind for future tracks.

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
This is the night theme for Rapoville, which plays during -- you guessed it! -- the night time in Rapoville. Unlike the day track, it is not a remix of its original DTL counterpart, but rather a remix of Sad Village. Therefore, I decided to add parts of that track to this version!
I replaced the initial electric piano with the iconic percussive organ from the DS games, leading to an interesting harmony with the acoustic guitar and strings and a more present and longer sound. Following that, at 00:25, the slap bass kicks in. The original track has a fretless bass, but I opted for the bass used in DTL1 for the night track. At 00:38, I transition into a section from the original night theme, which fits surprisingly well with the rest of the track, both instrument and melody-wise. A little bridge happens at 00:51 and I introduce Watersong (and Light Of My Life)'s motif, before the main bit of my rendition of this track plays, at 01:03; that'd be Jowee's House, which I picked due to the melancholic yet familiar melody it possesses. The second half of that melody allowed me to transition nicely into Lavasteam's portion of this track, at 01:23. I chose the calmest part of the original Lavasteam theme in order to give it a night vibe. To complete the three districts, I included a section from Galactic Jungle starting at 01:36, though I used a level track for this, instead of the main village theme. This level track is, itself, a remix of Twilite Wood from the first game, therefore it's a double reference. I end the track with a section from the original Two Realms track, that then loops back to the beginning.
This was a greater challenge to produce than the day version, as not many tracks fit the night vibe I was going for; they were either too slow or too fast with the current tempo. In the end, I think I did a good job picking the tracks to include here! I realize these tracks can be boiled down to track 1 + track 2 + track 3 from the DS games, though mixing them all and creating original sections in between is what makes them unique!

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
This theme plays during the day, while the player is standing on Rapoville. It's a remix of the original Raposa Village track and, later in TNC, Turtle Rock. However, I was kinda disappointed when I first heard it since, while the main chords play here and there, the main melody line is completely absent. That's mainly what inspired me to start with this track, in terms of DS-ifying the OST.
Right near the beginning, I added the classic drum intro that accompanies the first and second games' village track, along with some quirky (and iconic) scratches. Following that, there's a section that's pretty much the same as the original Rapoville track, though with the DS instruments and some slightly changed melody lines. At 00:39, I used the Pizzicato Strings to hint at the main melody, comforting the listener and introducing them to the big hit that comes next: at 00:44, the actual main melody kicks in, playing in its glorious, nostalgic entirety. I feel like that immediately improves the overall track, since it was so notably absent on the original. Then, I decided to do something else with the track. (SPOILERS!) In Two Realms, the villages from TNC have joined the main village as districts... so why doesn't the original track reflect that? I just had to fix it. Starting at 01:14, the chord progression and general mood follow Rapoville's track, but the melody line is that of Watersong. It fits surprisingly well! Another section from the original plays and, at 01:41, a transition starts and ends with Lavasteam's section beginning right after it, right until 02:14, where Galactic Jungle kicks in with its melody line. And, with that, the three districts got their sections on the theme. The track ends with a drum section which merges with the intro, in classic DTL fashion.
It was definitely a challenge to translate modern and HQ instruments and compositions into the DS style, as I usually do the opposite. It was so much fun, though! I studied many DS tracks, from Turtle Rock to Watersong, even Mari & Jowee, to better understand the process behind them. That, along with my already existent experience after composing for the fangame, allowed me to get creative and explore many possibilities with this track.

This track plays during the first boss battle of the game. It's supposed to be slightly intimidating, but not too menacing. Since it's tied to the woods area of the game, the acoustic guitar is present as the non-chiptune instrument to keep things consistent. I had the opportunity to work with some unique chord progressions I'd never used before, due to David's amazing work. The end result is something I adore and am proud to have in my game.

Taken from the wiki... Interlunium is an idol group under the I MY ME label, consisting of 11 vocalists. They debuted on December 25th 2017 with the song Intergalactic Disco, which featured seven of the vocalists. Four more idols were added to the group later, along with producer Lina.
I first heard this track on my Weekly Discovery playlist, on Spotify. At first, I was skeptical, due to its name, but I gave it a chance. I was extremely surprised when, chord after chord, the harmonic sequence just kept giving me outstanding chords. By the end of it, I realized this song is probably the single musical piece with the most chords that I deeply enjoy.
It was incredibly, and I mean INCREDIBLY hard to make this piece. There's no sheet music or MIDI available, for obvious reasons, so I had to listen to the instrumental version and transcribe everything by ear. You have no idea how hard that guitar solo was to nail. I spent almost an entire day just on that solo.
Now for the nerdy stuff... This is a big one. The first sequence that made me smile was after the first two verses. The sequence goes Fsharp minor, B major and Gsharp minor. After that, the usual chord would be a C minor to complete the progression, but the track goes to an amazing C major instead, which adds SO much to the harmony. The second sequence that interests me is almost right after. It starts with a stupendous Dsharp diminished, followed by a Gsharp major to transition to the beautiful Csharp minor - B major - Fsharp MAJOR, a classic sequence I use A LOT in my compositions. The last big sequence I enjoy is the second part of the chorus. It goes E major - B major and then it becomes something magical with the climactic D major and Csharp major. It's completely out of this world. A track FULL of interesting and juicy chord progressions that break the ordinary and make me smile each time I hear them. And that is why I had to cover this.
As always, I hope you enjoy the track!

This theme plays on the game's main hub: a huge pirate ship, taken over by one of the main characters, the Professor, and used as his temporary lab. The player spends a good amount of time on this ship, while traveling to different regions, cooking new recipes, changing outfits or getting tips from the Professor.
The original track is very cozy, and I chose to remaster it instead of remixing it because I didn't want to lose that comfortable feeling it has. The structure of the track remains the same. Apart from replacing every instrument with a high-quality counterpart, I changed some bits of the composition and instrumentation. The original track had a vocal "aah" instrument, very common in DS soundbanks. Unfortunately, it doesn't translate well to modern samples, so I replaced it with a melodeon, which also fits the pirate ship vibe. I also replaced the original's string ensemble with two distinct instruments: a soft pad, for the beginning section, and a synth-y string section for later parts, resembling the original. I also changed its melody a bit. Ironically, the biggest challenge I came across while arranging this track was the beginning flute melody. The original uses a TON of pitch changes, and I had to translate everything to actual notes. I got it done, though, and that's what motivated me to keep going with the rest of the track.
This track doesn't have any specific chord I enjoy the most, unlike most tracks I cover. Instead, I really enjoy the cozy and chill vibe it generally has.
As always, I hope you enjoy the track!

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
Route 10 is the final route before Unova's Victory Road. It's really short, which is a shame, considering how good the track is. It's quite different from other route tracks, similarly to Sinnoh's Route 228, and its chord progression is nearly perfect.
I capitalized on the European feeling the original has (the accordion giving some French vibes, the guitar and general chords giving a Spanish vibe, etc) and amplified it. I added some little counter-melodies to the main melody and added a whole second section with melodies composed by me, as always with Pokémon arrangements! I also added a synth in the flute sections, that accompanies it in a very rhythmic way and replaced the original flute with a percussive organ and a synth-ish flute. Finally, I added some upbeat percussion, such as shakers and bongos for a nice, cozy feeling.
My favorite chord sequence has got to be that slow ascend near the start (Fm, Eb, and ESPECIALLY that Dmaj chord, followed by the classic Gsus4 + G). The whole track has a beautiful progression, though, that's only the highlight! I tried to convey the same emotion the original conveyed.
As always, I hope you enjoy the track!

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
This track plays during the final boss battle, against Dr. Zomboss. It's the only level set during the night and on the roof, making it extra unique. It's a fast-paced theme, when compared to the rest of the game's soundtrack (except for Loonboon, which is the fastest-paced) and perfectly fits the final boss situation.
My intention with this remix was to bring back some of that sweet bass I used in Watery Graves, but on steroids. I focused a LOT on the basslines, making them satisfying, clean and super energetic. As such, I used bass techniques from multiple genres: classical jazz, blues, rock'n'roll, pop and others. IT NOW SOUNDS NOTHING LIKE RUDE BUSTER GUYS! The rest of the track was built around all these basslines; some original instruments were replaced by new samples which made more sense with the remix, others were kept.
As always, with PvZ remixes, I inserted some game sound-effects into the track. This time, though, I tried to make them fit the beat and created a bit of a rhythm with them. This can be seen with the Robot Hydraulics sound, throughout the track, but, mostly, with the bucket-head hit sound, which creates the percussion line twice in the remix. All other SFX were, as per usual, mixed to fit the rhythm and tempo of the remix.
I've got two favorite parts on this track, back to back! Firstly, 2:24. This part has a bassline I've used a LOT in my remixes; Driftveil City and Azalea Town, for example. This time, I used it for a variation of a classic Brainiac Maniac section. The biggest change comes from the bassline, and it's that G7 chord in the middle of the cadence. It's just so perfect with the melody. My second favorite part comes right after, being the chorus variation. The chord progression and general rhythm is heavily inspired by the chorus of "Charm", by Moe Shop, my favorite song of theirs. It added so much to the track and I was very pleased when I realized the original melody fit with the chord progression.
As always, I hope you enjoy the track!

❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
Virbank City is the third town visited in Pokémon B2/W2, being exclusive to the sequels. It's a very nightly, jazzy city, with canals and nightclubs (even the Gym is a nightclub!). As such, I figured this arrangement would finally be the perfect opportunity to use my favorite music genre: Jazz Noir, or Dark Jazz.
This genre's most prominent features are the slower pacing, darker melodies and, generally, that 1900s-detective-movie feeling. The original theme already used a lot of the instruments you'd find in a regular Jazz Noir track: the vibraphone, the piano and the jazz drums. However, it was missing a key-part: the sax. And so, I decided to give the sax a bigger focus, including a nice solo with reactions from an imaginary crowd. Finally, I was able to compose a cohesive piano solo, something I've been meaning to do for a while, now. I think it came out pretty good!
Speaking of the piano solo, that's also where my favorite part lies, due to the chords (shocker!); that descent at 1:49 is EVERYTHING to me: Cm-EbAug-EbMaj-F7, SUCH a classic in Jazz and I was able to integrate it with quite the unique rhythm, too. The section is just fluid and works. As always, hope you enjoy!

You guys know I don't usually cover battle tracks, and that's for a good reason. I simply prefer most environmental tracks over battle themes. Another reason is that I don't find myself skillful enough to cover battle themes, which are usually more complex than other tracks. Well, I took my shot a battle theme, one of my favorites! I tried to make it sound Gen 8-ish? Like what it would sound like in Sword and Shield.
❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
This theme plays during battles against the Gym Leaders of Unova (except when they send out their last Pokémon, there's a special theme for that occasion). It's, imo, the best Leader theme of the franchise, even surpassing that of my favorite Gen (Sinnoh). It's bouncy, funky and super upbeat.
As stated previously, my main intention with this remaster was to modernize the original, making it sound like something from Gens 7-8. For that, I used some of the samples that the official composers actually use in-game. Shout-out to Mudstep for showing me the document with all that jazz. I think it came out surprisingly good for a first attempt at a battle track after years of avoiding them.
My favorite part has to be 0:38, as most people would expect. Not only is the drumline incredibly powerful, as well as the bassline, the first chord (that sweet A# Major) gives me LIFE. And the whole melody is so smooth, it's perfect. The ending part with the Timpani reminds me a lot of Sinnoh battle tracks, therefore I enjoy it a ton, too! And yes, I did add some U-N-O-V-A chants in there. Hope you enjoy! :)

This track pops up in my head at least once every month, ever since I originally played the Gen V games. :') I have never arranged this track before, because it's one of my all-time favorites and I felt I wasn't ready to do so, yet. Alas! I'm finally more confident in my abilities and tried my hand at it. I gotta say, I'm proud of it!
❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
Castelia City is the biggest city in the Unova region, being based on New York City. Its theme represents the NYC feeling perfectly, to me. Jazzy brass, a percussive organ, break-like drums... It's just a good vibe, all over.
I fully kept the original vibes, which is why I consider this to be a Remaster and not a Remix, despite having composed a Brass and Sax solo that wasn't in the original track. I added some Tubular Bells which Pokémon games use a lot in the soundtrack and I felt were missing in the original; they're not very noticeable, however. As for the drums, I used multiple samples and layers of the drumline to create a very bouncy and catchy sequence.
As always, there's one chord (and sequence) I really enjoy in this theme. When the main theme repeats, you might notice there'sa different chord. While the first harmony goes AbMaj-DbMaj-EbMaj-CMaj-Fmin, the second time it plays, the chords are AbMaj-DbMaj-C7-FMin. That C7 chord is what makes the piece so interesting to me. You know, "my chord", as every track I cover seems to have at least one. So! This track allowed me to emphasize that chord, and emphasize it I sure did! Hope you enjoy the remaster. :)

Another upload on the same week?! That's wild! I'm in love with this remix, though, so I just *had* to post it! And... I'm really sorry if you don't enjoy Pokémon content as much; I know my recent content has been ALL Pokémon-related. More games are coming soon!
❖ What The Heck Is This ❖
Johto was always an interesting region to me; it's my second favorite, just behind Sinnoh, and I think for similar reasons. Apart from the amazing OST, it's full of myths, legends and it's surrounded by this weird, ominous aura. This track is connected to one of Johto's biggest legends: the burning of Brass Tower and the three legendary dogs.
The original track has a very clear motif which is repeated a lot throughout the entirety of the theme. I kept that motif and its repeated usage on my remix, but added some original parts. I am really happy with the general quality of the track. I added some percussion which changes the tone of the original from mysterious/ominous to adventurous. Still, I kept some of the ominous vibes in some specific parts. I imagine this arrangement to be the track that would play if we saw the tower burn down, especially if we were inside it.
There's one specific sequence that pulls me to this track; it's right near the beginning. The last chord before the pause and the main motif kicks in, to be specific. It's a very usual chord (E Major), but its execution with the descending bassline and the G# note played by the strings give me the absolute chills. That single chord is what makes the song so mythical/ominous to me. And so! I repeated that same chord and its execution some times throughout the track to contrast with the drums and bring back some of that legendary feel to it. Hope you enjoy the remix!
