If I missed something you would like to know, just tell me in the comments. I went over most important measurements but like I said before. I never used the measuring tape build this in the first place. So you can make things a little different as you want, like a longer or better handle. Hottest compost so far Green wizards garden 2025-08-17 | Back with a compost video. I managed to get the most heat yet out of this pile. Only time will tell if I sterilize the weed seeds but I think it's getting there if not hot enough now. I pulled a lot of old blackberry vines (source of carbon) from all of the piles and that helped. Since I've been adding more nitrogen to all the piles they started doing even better without the extra carbon. Happy gardening!

Scythe or Machete? Why not both with some safety tips Green wizards garden 2025-07-22 | Clearing out some knotweed to feed my compost pile. I want to use my scythe more but a heavy brush blade is what I need to really dig in. With the help of a machete though I can make quick work of this annoying weed and blackberry vines too. I'm getting better at how to cut them without getting myself tangled in thorns so maybe I'll show that in another video. I have plenty of blackberries to chop. Anyway here is one way I use all of this and it does compost if you get it hot enough. I've had it grow for a turn or two but that's it if I turn it often and I do this stuff.

A fireproof lawnmower - the scythe Green wizards garden 2025-07-09 | I planned on clearing around the firepit with my scythe. It reminded me of something. As out dated as the scythe is said to be it is far superior in one way then anything gas powered. Hot mufflers and friction fires happen every summer with lawn equipment. Even battery powered equipment can be a hazard on rare occasion. With a scythe I will be mowing in the driest part of the year no worries. Happy gardening!

I went in and out of the house a couple of times getting some pictures. Near dark my cat was calling me and didn't realize the deer got interested in her right after I started the video. I've never been what I would say was 10 ft away from a deer before. I think my cat Penny was as surprised as I was but she was sitting right next to me at the end of the video. I hope you enjoy!

I also figured out a wedge setup so the lay of the blade is better. It all seems to be as good and very solid compared to my light weight snath. It's got a good fit for me and that's the important part. Happy gardening!

That's okay because as it breaks down the water seems to soak in better, so at least I know that. Hopefully next turn is more active but I have to step up the turn rate. Yeah, I made a snath with 2 handles Green wizards garden 2025-06-12 | Like I was saying before, I would just make another snath if I wanted one with handles. Well I did just that. It's a little heavy and the middle handle needs fixed in place better. I didn't glue that part because I wasn't completely happy with it but I can replace it because I didn't use glue. Since I have been messing with the halfting angle I wanted to try without it anyway. I think it works great and I may leave the handle off. What I didn't know is that I was going to break my handle. It was a perfect chance to try what I thought and the scythe doesn't really need handles. Too bad things got loose on me and slowed me down a bit. Funny the time was almost the same for the scythe both times including me fixing the handle. I also didn't think about the heavily tangled grass from not mowing the far ends in a long time, the middle has been mowed.
