Run Silent Run Deep (Trailer) thefilmprojector 2009-03-28 | In this 1958 classic from MGM, Clark Gable plays the commander of a WWII submarine that has recently been sunk in an area of the Pacific known as the Bunko Straits. Assigned to a desk job back at Pearl Harbor, he still mourns the loss of his crew and his boat. Burt Lancaster plays the Executive Officer of the submarine USS Nerka which is due a change of command. Lancaster relishes the position, but is passed over in favor of Gable, who sees this posting as a chance to return to the Bunko Straits and extract revenge on the Japanese destroyer which he feels certain sank his old command.
