Celeste: All A-Sides Deathless Monika 2023-09-19 | I recently got a bunch of practice on Core and the boss fight in Reflection, so i was doing some Any% Deathless attempts. About 2-3 a day, ensuring i wouldn't burn myself out (which can be quite a prevalent risk with something like this). I got Any% Deathless only a couple days after starting attempts, and in this run i decided to go further and try for All A-Sides Deathless, which isn't that much harder than Any% Deathless since it only adds one chapter. And getting the crystal heart isn't something you can really die to, it's just kind of tedious. Touhou 19 - Enokos Story (Normal Mode) in 9:16.29 Monika 2023-09-04 | Incredibly good run btw. I was only aiming for sub-10, but then i got this :oThis might be the best mainline touhou game for speedrunning cause you can actually optimize it without it just being "stand under the boss for as long as possible". So yeah, this is very fun.I chose Enoko because she's incredibly strong (and also my favorite character from this game, so that helps), so you can kinda just speed kill every boss with the bear traps. This makes her the most fun for me (i think) even though Suika is an incredibly annoying final boss.Bombs refill after every stage so i just bomb the hell out of each final boss attack. Though this still sometimes leaves me with a bomb or two to spare and i haven't yet figured out how to work those into the run. Mirror Temple - Golden Strawberry (Full Clear) | Celeste Monika 2023-08-04 | This one i got very quickly after practicing it. Though i have already done this one some time ago. But yeah, i'm glad this one didn't take long because i really don't like the second half of this chapter. Yet i probably still like it more than Chapter 6. But we'll get to that.Anyway, this chapter does feature a couple really neat strats i came up with, such as:1:20 - Weirdly consistent spikejump setup to skip a weird jump around the block3:10 - This room is just full of setups4:06 - This room took me so long to find anything for, because there isn't a whole lot you can do here that's actually consistent. The regular way is to go up with the bubbles and drop down, and that does have some kind of setup where you just hold left? However, this just fails sometimes, seemingly randomly. I thought it was only when you held jump while hitting the ceiling and that worked for me when i did this the first time, but since practicing/labbing this again, it failed even when i wasn't holding jump? I don't get it, but either way, I have a funny setup for this now that does (i think) work consistently and just skips all of the bubble falling bs. Oh and, yes, the default strat of just timing the falls is just too tight for me to wanna do it. Touhou 16: Hidden Star in Four Seasons - Lunatic Mode Clear Monika 2023-04-14 | I've been getting back into Touhou games again recently, and this is the result. It's also in german for some reason but that's okay :)This run is without continues, meaning no Game Overs. Marisa with the Winter Sub-Season. The Winter one allows only using one Season Release (is that what it's called?) at a time as opposed to using all of the charges at once. You can see this charge in the bottom-left, by the way.°-----Rough overview of the game's mechanics:Power: You can have up to 4.00 Power and you increase it by collecting the little red P items.Lives: Represented by the hearts on the UI. If you get hit, you die and lose one. In this game specifically, earning enough score will increase your lives (see the number below the life count).Bombs: Represented by green stars on the UI. Pressing the bomb button unleashes a big attack that makes you briefly invincible and gets rid of all the bullets on screen.They're also technically called Spell Cards, but when people mention Spell Cards, they're most likely talking about the enemy ones.Graze: When you're very close to a bullet, you get a graze point. Probably gives you some score but more importantly drops a season pellet in this game.Score: You can gain score by collecting the little blue score items, season pellets, and by capturing Spell Cards (beating them without dying or bombing). You can also increase how much score the blue items give you somehow but i don't actually know how that works.
