Tender Loving EmpireFrom the album ‘Beneath The Brine’ (2014) • Pay what you want http://tndr.lv/fam-crest
Oh, young love of mine She sleeps beneath the brine And oh the sound, the tick The weighty click of her heart against my spine
Now the dark is nigh And she lays here at my side But like a steady squall Her arms they fall and her legs, they grasp me tight
Oh, young love, young dear Why have you taken me in your fall? All of my love, all of my life Given to you, sacrificed
Oh my waking world I leave you for a girl Cast away into this blight Swimming blindly through the night
Now my heart is bound Like a plague upon this sound And oh, it slips away, such soft decay Then it grows
Oh, young love, young dear Why have you taken me from the fall? All of my love, and all of my life Given to you, sacrificed
Stay clear of the wreckage She goes down, down, down
And she burns like the sun And it all falls away Take your time and I'll take mine here today But it cuts like a knife And we're bound here as the night, it breaks away And it all goes down
Oh, the sun!
Oh, young love, young dear Why have you shaken me from the fall? All of my life, all of my days Given to you, cast away
Here's to the war Here's to the night All of my love, sacrificed
Soft and kind Cold as ice Hold yourself beneath the brine
Smooth as wine Black as night Hold yourself beneath the brine
The brainchild of frontman Liam McCormick, The Family Crest began as a recording project in 2009 with co-founder/bassist John Seeterlin. “We always liked making music with people—getting a bunch of people together and singing. So we put ads everywhere,” says McCormick. “We posted on Craigslist and emailed old friends from school.” The outcome was greater than the original duo imagined, with 80 people credited on the first recording the band produced. From that a seven-piece core band emerged, though the Crest boasts over 400 “Extended Family” members.

Expressing my solitude as the only sister, the only daughter. The loneliness i have carried throughout the years while self realizing myself in this beautiful chaos. It's a poetic bridge to my experience wanting to heal all the complicated hauntings of ancestral trauma."

Song Lyrics: It sure has been a long time since I waited for some kind of call I’ve been feeling something about it I wouldn’t have told you I didn’t know you wanted to hear it It’s alright we can talk I’m here to listen let’s take a walk You see there is a beautiful fire don’t take it for granted keeps us warm keeps us still keeps us grounded I’m with it or not I just can’t wait that long Lay back or make a run for it hear me out for once I just want to let you know how I’ve been.

LYRICS I’m gonna sing a sad song, cuz I’m feeling sad. I’m gonna sing a happy song, cuz I’m feeling rad. I’m gonna sing an angry song cuz I feel like I’m about to blow up. I’m gonna sing a silly song cuz I never ever ever ever ever wanna grow up.
Wild and free! We’re wild and weird and free. Let's be who we wanna be, and let's never ever stop.
I can feel it in my heart. I can feel it in my head. Sometimes life can be bewildering Sometimes life makes you feel like you wanna blow up But I ain’t gonna let it phase me, phase me. This is my life and I promise to show up. Gonna make my life amazing, amazing. And I never ever ever ever ever wanna grow up.
Wild and free! We’re wild and weird and free. Let's be who we wanna be, and let's never ever stop being so- Wild and free! We’re wild and weird and free. Let's be who we wanna be, and let's never ever stop

Oh, maybe I try To impress you with my being a donor Phoneless lust seems unsafe and unlikely My neighbors need answers Gimme the question I’m more than lazy, but I’m less than exciting And medium horny You’ve a rolodex of holy women for me I’m a Sunbeam so she must be lonely I’m sick of bar banter But attracted to the neon
Oh, maybe I try not to guess So I’m just reading it over Boneless thugs seem to hate and to like me It’s not what I’m after But it’s something I can lean on
(You used to call me that)
Time suggests we live better than this Better than this

Lyrics I Am Part of a Rainbow I have a body and brain. I have a heart and a soul. I am a person who believes in themself and who reaches their goals. I am one in a trillion, but I am part of a whole. There’s a whole big world out there full of people I’d like to know. I had a favorite color but I traded it in for a rainbow. Rainbow! I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow.
I see gold and vermillion. I see olive and jade. There's eight billion colors out there with eight billion beautiful names. I had a favorite color but I traded it in for a rainbow. Rainbow! I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow.
Jam and mint and bubblegum and yam and pink and pine and plum and rose and rust and ebony. Coral, lime, and peacock, crimson, onyx, shamrock, daffodil and mahogany.
We were searching for some gold at the end so we climbed to the top and slid down the side of my rainbow. Rainbow! I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow. I am a part of a rainbow. Verse 1 There’s a highway that leads to heaven Where the hours of service will last forever With Peterbilt on the Pearly Gates No more drawing lines on the interstate
Hallelujah to the long haul This your home 20 forever more You got your whole life in your back pocket
The eternal convoy’s never stopping Just a bunch of Bubbas on the boulevard All space and time on an open road (where) You’ll never run out of diesel speed So go and mash your motor as much as you please
Chorus It’s the Big Rig Up in the sky We’ll never stop rolling through the By and by You’ll have eighteen wheels For eternity And the dispatch radios that “You’re finally free.”
Verse 2 Roger and John just rolling along Down the I-65 route to Nirvana Here and there and everywhere Turns out the end of time actually lasts forever
Brother, oh brother, what’s our PnD? When our one main road runs perpetually Through Valhalla and the Milky Way In our cosmic Kenworth that we can’t leave?
Chorus It’s the Big Rig, up in the sky We’ll never stop rolling through the By and By You’ll have eightee wheels For eternity And the dispatch radios that youre finally free In the Big Rig, up in the sky We got a real clean shot thru the end of time.

“Good Impressions is about aging out of caring what people think of you, of no longer staying a minute longer than you’re having fun at the party. The song embodies both the empowerment and the undercurrent of anguish therein, the tension between wanting to connect with people and wanting to be alone, between following your intuition and being unwilling to abandon your comfort zone.” - Malachi Graham
Lyrics Every time I go looking all I find is the dark There’s a hollow space in the empty cage If I can’t play it by ear, could I play it by heart? Wanted time alone, now that’s all I’ve got. I guess I’m falling now I guess I’m falling down No way to catch myself But there’s no ground Used to care enough to make a good impression… I’m going home I tell myself I learned my lesson Ohh Used to care enough to make a good impression… I’m going home I tell myself I learned my lesson Ohh Every time I go looking all I find is the dark There’s a hollow space in the empty cage Every time I go looking all I find is the dark There’s a hollow space in the empty cage Used to care enough to make a good impression… I’m going home I tell myself I learned my lesson Ohh

Lyrics True, I lit the fuse Is the countdown ruining the mood? So place your bet, did you expect I’d be the shadow breathing down your neck I never said I was your friend Let the devil getcha in the end I don’t wanna burn out... I play rough. Sweet dreams, cruel love Red dress, small talk, my deathwish for your love I look at you, you’re looking back At a one way mirror to the black You toss a wink back at yourself I think you think you’re loving someone else I bide my time behind the glass Til the illusion shatters in the blast I don’t wanna burn out... Lyrics Verse 1 Stupid is as stupid does Guess that makes me the dumbest one of all time I’ll be a schmuck for a night and a goof for a while (I’m) The Hack of the Year, like a lil badge of honor, Cause nobody ever loved a knowitall So I’ll be the greatest halfwit and slowest on the draw…
Verse 2 Life is like a box of chocolate(s) You’ve gotta enjoy it until it’s gone… (Cause) The same things that make you laugh can make you cry So enjoy while you can because we’re all gonna die (It) Might not be today but it could be here soon So I’d like sit here and eat my chocolate up with you

“My body is a strange house when the lights are out.” Self-discovery is not a solo pursuit. Small Million’s new ballad Lightswitch explores our limitless potential to grow and change when we inhabit our darkest places… with help. “This song was inspired by my own experience with chronic pain and transforming my relationship with my body. It’s humbling to realize you can’t heal yourself alone, but as it turns out, no one can. An excellent therapist, a great lover, a friend who tells you the unvarnished truth— people who see you clearly, point the way, and trust you to run with it. If we’re lucky they’ll let us do the same for them.” -Malachi
Lyrics My body is a dark room, I leave it alone The touch of your hand is a beam of light, what’s it gonna strike Won’t you sweep through my darkness, catch me lying to myself Oh, help my find the lightswitch So I can find my own way out
All I want, all I need, all I been’s not all I’m gonna be I know you, you know me, light me up and show me how to breathe Show me how to breathe, show me how to breathe, show me how to be
When the bulb flicks on I’m a place I’ve never been But it smells like home Or did I see it in a dream? I’m not alone you’re here with me More dark rooms to roam if you’ll help me More dark rooms to roam
My body is a strange house when the lights are out. But I belong to these walls when it’s all aglow Won’t you bring me home? If you sweep through my darkness, I could do the same for you I’ll help you find the lightswitch— let me point you towards the truth.
All you want, all you need, all you been’s not all you're gonna be I know you, you know me, light you up and show you how to breathe Show you how to breathe, show you how to breathe, show you how to be.

Walk Along is the eleventh track from Y La Bamba's latest album Lucha.
Song Lyrics: Would you rather walk along with me Can’t remember The way it felt like When we use to be close my dear I must admit Im crazy about If you wanted we could walk away To be fair My most sincere intention Is to be the best I can be for myself I might be ready or not to give In that kind of love I often talk about And seem so unreliable There are times I rather keep to myself So let’s go as slow It seems like you want it that way And we will arrive when it feels true to you My darlin When i’m alone You pace around my mind I might not be able to fall asleep I might not be able

I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry is the seventh track from Y La Bamba's latest album Lucha.
Song Lyrics: Hear that lonesome whippoorwill He sounds too blue to fly The midnight train is whining low I’m so lonesome, I could cry I’ve never seen a night so long And time goes crawling by The moon just went behind the clouds To hide its face and cry Did you ever see a robin weep When leaves begin to die? Like me, he’s lost the will to live I’m so lonesome, I could cry The silence of a falling star Lights up a purple sky And as I wonder where you are I’m so lonesome, I could cry

tenderlovingempire.com/collections/y-la-bamba ylabambamusic.comY La Bamba - EightTender Loving Empire2023-05-12 | "This song feels like the end of an era, while going through some intense health issues. It was written right after I found out a friend by the name of Nectali Diaz AKA Sumo passed away. I had just been living in Mexico City for a few months and hearing this news cut deep for a lot of us in the community. It's a collage of my rainy summer days in the city and contemplating all the feelings of sadness while painting a picture of my environment. It also has a somber feeling of it being my last album, I felt like a death of old narratives. I have thought about not touring anymore, not performing anymore to tend to my health. A lot of unknowns, a lot of goodbyes." - Luz of Y La Bamba
Eight is the first track from Y La Bamba's latest album Lucha.
Song Lyrics: Vamos a decir Esto es el final Nada es como antes Nada es como era Quiero dejar lo Quiero dejar lo Dont Don’t worry about it baby Don’t worry bout a thing Maybe I’ll be gone by tonight Tengo mucho que vivir Que vivir y gozar Verano La lluvia A donde Qué buscas Tesoro No importa Ni modo Que suerte La vida La muerte A donde No importa Be the light Waiting for that dream to align Shaping my visions into water I wouldn’t dare Think about it twice I will admit I’ve been wrong I’m coming home Once in for all What are the odds that we are alive don’t be afraid of losing time Verano La lluvia A donde Qué buscas Tesoro No importa Ni modo Verano La lluvia A donde Qué buscas Tesoro No importa Ni modo

Devendra Banhart (Official Music Video)Tender Loving Empire2023-04-18 | Y La Bama shares their latest single and video, "Hues (feat. Devendra Banhart),” a song about not being anyone’s fool. Rhythms veer into bossa nova territory on the track, which is a full-circle collaboration for lead vocalist and producer Luz Elena Mendoza Ramos as they reminisce on the significance of finding Banhart’s work nearly two decades earlier.
All proceeds from the single are going to Border Kindness, an organization that provides asylum-seekers, migrants, refugees, and the displaced with comprehensive services that include food, shelter, clothing, medical care, and legal services.
Lyrics: Hues of loving you Has led me to be blind Don’t worry I might be wrong Don’t worry my love Not worried lately I’ll be gone I won’t change my mind I know That I failed you once or twice And what I know I Can’t take it baby I’m so sorry but I can’t So I had to walk away
It doesn’t matter anymore Nor did it ever We gave up somehow I guess it all was I guess it all was once before
And I don’t care about those Sweet mornings I am no fool I am no fool I am no fool but i’m fine without you Oooh My darlin I My darlin I Can’t be My darlin I Can’t be anything but the truth
What do we do now What do we say We’ve been here before Wouldn’t you say Wouldn’t you say But I don’t care about those Sweet mornings

“You cut my corners down / til my world was round” A pop earworm about the feminine urge to destroy his self-serving and flat vision of you and dance in the rubble “My mom’s always told me to beware of being a ‘flattering mirror’; to watch out for people who adore you only because they love how you make them feel about themselves.” -Malachi

“Wherever you go, I go.” Can ego let go of the wheel and embrace being a passenger? This hooky and layered track explores the unexpected and beautiful places you can find yourself in life and in love when you surrender control. “While writing during lockdown, the scenes I was most nostalgic for were moments of casual ease around other humans. Riding the bus at night, dancing at the club with friends, a summer road trip with a lover. I was hungry to be a passenger, a supporting character in other people’s lives.” -Malachi
Lyrics Fear of missing out, fear of coming down Something bout the night and weekend crowd They’re waiting at the spot, lost my train of thought Know I missed the stop but could you let me off? Or maybe I’ll just ride all night Lull of the hum and the side-to-side Flicker of the busted light ...so what’s it like at the end of the line? I’m riding I’m riding / wherever you go I’m riding / wherever you I’m riding all the way, gonna let you drive / wherever you I go And if they / wherever you go They miss me / wherever you go I go I’m riding / wherever you go They’ll find me all the way at the end of the line Just like that I’m back, like a kinda flash Sun is slipping past your silhouette Rolling off the map, kicking at the dash Laughing cuz you take the turn too fast The moment slipping through my grasp When I know I’ll want it back Soft eyes on the yellow line, take the long way, I don’t mind I’m riding I’m riding / wherever you go I’m riding / wherever you I’m riding all the way, gonna let you drive / wherever you I go And if they / wherever you go They miss me / wherever you go I go I’m riding / wherever you go They’ll find me all the way at the end of the line
Tender Loving EmpireY La Bamba - Collapse (Official Music Video)Tender Loving Empire2023-02-28 | “This song is about my self-empowerment, and not giving up on my evolution or holding back my intuition,” says Y La Bamba’s Luz Elena Mendoza Ramos of the track. “It's a song about realizing that I have gotten myself this far even though shit has been rough for many years.”
Lyrics: Walking around I be thinking to myself How I keep trying How about I keep it fair
To get there I don’t need anything from nobody
To find out We get to live this right now I don’t want to be that foolish
To find out Give it time don’t forget it And you will find Won’t regret it In the silence I hear my heart beat I see it coming It sure is something Out this world
All I All I know to stay true to my heart Somethings cant be held right You know what I'm talking about I guess Everything has been changing Im hoping for
Better you believe Mark my words For every time
that I get nervous
Ahhhh
Give it time Don’t forget it And you will find Won’t regret In the silence I hear my heart beat I see it coming It sure is something

"I’m not proud of what I do to get to sleep." Small Million's latest bop is not about your fun night out but about stumbling home afterwards relentlessly churning on everything you overshared. The Overkill is for people who cringe back on everything they’ve said at a party to see if they were obnoxious, messy, hurt someone’s feelings, or disclosed too much of themselves. It’s about the ways we can seek connection through vulnerability (on a night out, posting online, or in song lyrics), and grappling with the regrets of confessing too much and losing control. “This might be my favorite bridge we’ve ever written.” -Malachi
Tender Loving Empire RecordsY La Bamba - Dibujos De Mi AlmaTender Loving Empire2023-01-31 | Y La Bamba returns with a resilient new single, “Dibujos De Mi Alma," a "meticulously crafted sonic bomb" according to KCRW.
"This song was written for a romantic partner right before the shutdown in 2020,” says Y La Bamba lead vocalist and producer Luz Elena Mendoza Ramos of the track. “It's a song of longing for this person but at the same time trying to detach myself from the unhealthy parts of connection.”
Dibujos De Mi Alma is the second track from Y La Bamba's latest album Lucha.

tenderlovingempire.com/collections/y-la-bamba ylabambamusic.comJared Mees & The Grown Children - Real Connection (Official Video)Tender Loving Empire2023-01-13 | Real Connection is about the trajectory of making small changes and how they can lead to different and sometimes happier outcomes. I think a lot about trajectories-how small adjustments at one place in time can have huge effects down the road. While this video is ostensibly about a couple who are obsessed with their devices-in this case just handheld glowy things-It’s not an indictment on technology per-se, but more of a reminder that while our devices are designed to connect us with a greater world, they often disengage us with the world in front of our faces, and over time that can accumulate into missed connections, missed opportunities, and potentially a different future.
In the video, Jared plays a sort of benevolent poltergeist mucking things up for a disconnected couple in an attempt to get them more engaged in “the now”. This theme is backed up throughout the video, even down to the choice to release it primarily on Instagram, an app predominantly used in the palm of the hand. The digital fuzz or glitch-outs throughout the video were designed to remind you that you’re currently engaging in the activity that could be affecting your own trajectory; and at the end there’s a bit of black screen with the sound of some birds chirping. The hope is that while the viewer is wondering if the video is over, they might then catch their own reflection in the mirror of their device, reminding them of what trajectory they’re on.
