At the end of the video I go on a tangent about Lasting Impression, which is a 19% damage boost compared to Vorpal which will be 10% in an upcoming patch. This is an 8.1% damage boost compared to the 3.4% I mention in the video multiple times, and changes very little about LI being an undesirable perk. But hey, now it at least accomplishes something worth talking about.
Thanks for watching homies.
Gladd was my partner for this one, dude is a legend and a hardcore grinder - 10 hours in and we were prepared to keep going as long as this took.
Hope you enjoy!
Just so it's out there, this video is a couple days late, but I'm sure you guys are used to that by now.

Follow me on http://www.twitch.tv/slayerage for more stuff kinda like this, or you could even follow Dom at http://www.twitch.tv/dominickx if you wanted to but realistically you may be waiting a bit for a stream.
Short FAQ:
Were we first? Nope. Not even close. Lots of people have already done this. However, we are pretty happy to have beaten it on our first attempt at final stand (barely!)
Why don't we need operator? Dom is using Stasis Titan's Behemoth melee immediately before being detained to scoot out before it can catch him. He can tell when to melee based on an animation from the boss, and I never get detained because Taniks won't detain the suppressor since that would be some bogus.
Why is Dom supering the boss? The ice walls prevent him from pathing to his next nuke cycle as quickly as he would normally, which gives us essential time to lose stacks of radiation from carrying the nukes. Otherwise this would be borderline impossible. This is also why I don't blow up warmind cells sometimes - they'd break the crystals, freeing the boss to move.
How do I fire my shotgun so fast? I sped that part of the video up to 1.5x speed because I figured you guys get the idea. Just kidding. It's "quickdraw glitching," which is where you tap the sprint, move forward, and swap weapons buttons simultaneously to draw your weapon as fast as possible. This allows for a substantial decrease in ADS time and an increase to fire rate, although I slow my fire rate down quite a bit to take aim.
Enjoy.

Special thanks to anyone who checks out today's sponsor, that really helps me justify more frequent video uploads. This was a fluffed-up stream highlight of a white-gear only solo shattered throne that took a little under 3 hours. I think it could realistically be done flawlessly, but there's a reason the video is edited so much for time - the gear is pretty darn weak so every encounter is much more time consuming than usual. Solid challenge though, and I personally thought the editing made for a pretty nice final video.
Hope you enjoy!
This run happened after I had already put somewhere in the neighborhood of 30 hours into attempts (or so), and many runs ended when the boss had been reduced to half health or less - which takes more than an hour when you can't fast forward through the waiting.
It took that long because this challenge was vastly harder than it looks on a nice, clean, completed run. There are so many ways to die that I had to learn to avoid and so many nuances that I had to be prepared for with regards to enemy pathing, aggro patterns, boss safespots, angles for mote types, psion spawn rates, and so forth. Seriously, if it doesn't look too bad, give it a try, you'll see very quickly that it is in fact that bad.
The major difficulty came from the white gear. 0 resilience to tank small bits of damage, 0 recovery to get health back when I do take damage, and 0 mobility to avoid damage in the first place. Not to mention 0 intellect, discipline, and strength, so I couldn't rely on my abilities if I was wasteful in their use whatsoever. White gear makes you feel like you're in the first campaign mission, it's amazingly bad - oh, and to top that off, you obviously can't put mods on it (so no taken barrier / hive barrier / taken armaments or ammo finders or anything else), and since I had to pull it from collections, it was all at 1039 which brought me to 1056 power with the artifact, so I was underleveled as well.
There were slightly superior weapon options. The Stay Away special grenade launcher has blinding nades, so it would've been better than a sniper for staying alive, and a green grenade launcher for my heavy would've been a clear improvement over my rocket launcher as well. I chose not to use those because the whole point of this was to handicap myself as much as I could, so using a strategy as strong as blinding felt like I would be cheesing myself.
The most excruciating part of this whole thing is the waiting. Without twitch chat (follow me at twitch.tv/slayerage ) and RuneScape to keep those waiting periods alright, I couldn't see myself attempting this at all. By the time I realized how horrible it would be, I was already in too deep to back out.
It's a shame I don't have a montage of all the ways I died, there are quite a few that really show how pathetic my gear setup was. Thanks for watching (and reading! Whoa!) and I hope you enjoyed.

Gemini Jester is not broken if we're being totally honest, but it is actually very strong and makes counter-play pretty much impossible if used correctly. It kinda has a reputation for being a bit of a meme, but it most certainly is not, especially on Cauldron (and other small maps).

Recluse is still overpowered.
Supposedly there is a legendary and master variation of this activity upcoming, so if that's true we'll have some much more interesting solos in the future. I actually think that the current difficulty level is relatively easy solo (my strategy for the totem defense with the 6 void charges is pretty bad, just fun to do). There are a lot of tense sections, but nothing that actually presses your skill very hard. The only major thing that turned into an obstacle for me was an AOE attack the boss does, which became a non-issue as I started to actually move during the DPS phase.
Overall it's a fun dungeon and I'm sure it will provide a good deal of interesting secrets and content for the future. Good luck in your own runs, all.
Giving a trial run to some light editing for this "casual" challenge. I imagine I'll leave most truly difficult runs unedited, but may as well have some fun with it if that's all I'm doing in game, too.
My loadout was the same as in the recent Solo Crota video (Duke, Eriana's Vow, Delirium, and multiple Paragon Mods on armor with Orpheus Rigs).
These solo 100ks are more for amusement than challenge because the level of difficulty varies quite a bit from week to week. Some week might be a nutty run, but for this week, I'm definitely more satisfied with our 9:28 speedrun of the Master difficulty (even though that also has lots of room for improvement, too. Link here: youtube.com/watch?v=Q1CJxXt1zTQ ). Enjoy my dudes.
Teammates for this run are Dom and Cookiez. Our run was decent but we did make enough mistakes to be pretty certain a sub-9 minute run is completely doable, unfortunately since we started on the last day of the week it won't happen this reset. Still, not a bad run and it's a time we are pretty happy with.
I'd say that 3 Izanagi's Burdens would be better than Divinity here, but Cookiez doesn't have Izanagi's, so cest la vie. Just another fun Nightfall related video
Enjoy at your discretion.
For my setup, I focused on ensuring that I had enough paragon mods I could flee into the dark like a roach if I felt that the enemies were so much as looking in my general direction. I also used supreme nightmare crusher for increased melee damage against Crota (which made the numbers bigger in my very limited testing but didn't feel like it accomplished much) and supreme nightmare breaker for all of the acolyte shields, which is practically necessary to have any chance at this challenge. For my weapons I used an unstoppable handcannon (the only option other than leviathans breath for stopping ogres, but since LB is void, that's a non-option here), eriana's vow for anti-barrier and solar damage, and delirium 21% for the arc shields. These were pretty forced choices for a solo run, I'm not sure how many other viable builds there would be outside of other arc heavies.
Hope you enjoyed the most intense game of ring around the rosie destiny has ever offered.
Also just so it's said - it's not super obvious in this video, but it is VERY easy to die here. Two direct hits from Crota's darkness blast kills. If you saw it live, you understand.
Thanks for watching/reading.
If you plan on attempting this, be very afraid of the final boss phase, that is the only place where wiping is hard to avoid if you're not on top of everything.
watch clips like this live at http://twitch.tv/slayerage if you so choose :^) follow or don't :^(
I think it's fair to say this is the hardest nightfall in the Destiny franchise to date, but maybe that's an overstatement. There's certainly something to be said for the Pyramidion Nightfall Ordeal, so based on the two for two high difficulty Nightfall Ordeals I'm sure we'll have plenty of hardcore content to come.
If extinguish were still a nightfall thing, then this run would be absolutely insane, just gonna throw that out there. Maybe I go for flawless whenever it's in the rotation next.
Probably could've done this with any class or character and been just as well off. Warlock probably would've been better.
Thanks for watching.
I'd strongly recommend using my loadout of weapons - Eriana's Vow ensures you can use a strong special weapon without giving up the staggering power of a unstoppable handcannon. Wendigo is excellent for shutting down knights and taking off their shields, although a machine gun is also good. This loadout is so well-suited to the Scarlet Keep nightfall that it would probably be optimal to just have all three players in a larger fireteam running it.
If you enjoy the video be sure to give it a thumbs up those really help my viewership metrics which is another way of saying it proves you exist and also read this. :)

Bungie did a really good job ensuring multiple buffs didn't stack for the most part so killing this fool in one hit was an accomplishment.

This video has definitely arrived too late to be super useful, but since a lot of the information might be relevant going forward and I want to be sure that it's said for posterity, here it is anyway. Hope you get some kind of value out of it :^)
The changes I say in this video are not meant as a specific solution to the design problems of Gambit Prime, they are an illustrative example of how I would like to see those problems approached.
Specifically, we need more "one of this is great to have, but two isn't worth it" in Destiny - such as in subclasses.
Hope you enjoy the video!

This is a video talking about the Spare Rations drop rate and drop rates in general. I finally got my godroll of Full Bore, Range MW, High Cal, Rapid Hit, and Rangefinder after like 50 hours of grinding the new drop rate... so it's not the best, but it's not the worst ever. Still, I think I cover pretty well what's wrong with this farm - why is Tier 3 so not worth the effort? Who knows.

This video is largely in response to Luke Smith's mention of Gambit in the Director's Cut part I ( bungie.net/en/News/Article/48058 ) wherein Luke Stated that only one of the Gambit modes will be their focus for future refinements. Since I think the "highlander of Gambits" is a debatable topic only if we choose to willfully ignore the reasons snowballing is a problem, I tried to state my case for how Gambit Prime's design direction took a few wrong turns. To summarize it:
The changes made for Gambit prime are misguided enough that anything short of an overhaul to them will still likely detract from the overall gambit experience. As such, Gambit is a better mode, simply because it makes fewer mistakes. Additionally, there are longstanding issues in both modes - largely stemming from the ammo economy - which neither mode has meaningfully addressed.
I would go as far as to say that, from a design standpoint, Gambit Prime is the objectively inferior mode despite having some value in its increased sophistication. Ultimate takeaway depends on what level of commitment Bungie has to gambit as a mode. Also, just as a disclaimer, I still think the game mode is awesome at its core and does a fantastic job of combining multiple elements of what make Destiny unique into one playable experience. Needs a lot of polish, though.
Anyhow, share your thoughts with me here or on Twitch or Twitter. I'll try to release a video soon outlining what I would personally like to see Gambit turn into.
Thanks for your time!
Love,
Slayer 😘

One Two Punch Shotty, Liar's Handshake, Combination Blow (Arcstrider top tree), Tractor Cannon, memes for days.
In case you were wondering about how effective this build is outside of soloing Riven, here's another fine example of it being pretty nutso bonkers. This might be a good way for some of you out there to get your solo flawless shattered thrones in, but maybe don't rush so much and almost die like 6 times.
Disclaimer: it's pretty easy to die if you don't manage your buffs properly. This is definitely a high risk strategy if you don't keep your seatbelts fastened.
ALSO: You guys remember when I was telling you that it wouldn't be the end of the world when they nerfed our infinite super exotics?
Told you so. :^)
Thanks again to Phere for making the thumbnail :^)
I had to play on cbechtold's account because mine didn't have a shotgun that was good enough for this challenge. Cory went out of his way to prepare the account with the best possible loadout for the challenge, which was super cool of him and took a lot of effort that he only did because he's a great guy. To clarify, this great gear was:
Enhanced shotgun dexterity boots, shotgun reserve cloak and helmet, 3x Transcendent blessing mod with 2x Riven's Curse gear, masterworked armor (with 3/4 arc masterworks for psions), and then all the necessary stuff like Liar's Handshake and Emperor's Courtesy from the raid.
Emperor's Courtesy is the best OTP shotgun for this due to its large magazine size and moderate handling speed. While you can accomplish this feat with a Last Man Standing that has good rolls including OTP (and preferably a lot of handling, plus you need tactical/appended/extended mag), it would definitely be harder to do so.
The melee damage comes from a combination of Arcstrider top tree's Combination Blow x3, One Two Punch, Cross Counter (Liar's Handshake), and the Tractor Cannon debuff. It's a busted amount of damage, but since it can't be applied everywhere easily, it's hard to be sure if Bungie has any plans of obliterating it like they sometimes like to do.
Lachegga made the montage for the end of this video. He is one of my most highly valued community members because he is a meme lord and also another great guy in many other ways. Thanks Lachegga, and again, thanks Cory.
Also thank you to Phere for once again making a very professional looking thumbnail :)
