No detail was overlooked in the construction of this guitar. Hardware, label, headstock logo, woods, bracing, binding, etc are all indistinguishable from the originals. The guitar features Brazilian rosewood back and sides, spruce top, and a walnut neck. As you'd expect, top was constructed using heat bending method originally employed by Selmer (most Gypsy guitars today have force bent tops which results in a different type of bend and sound.) This guitar was also skillfully antiqued to give it the look and feel of 1930s era Selmer. In accordance with Maccaferri's original design, this instrument includes an internal resonator which enhances the tone and projection of the guitar.
Jean in no newcomer to building exacting replicas of Selmer guitars. In honor of Django's 100th birthday (January 23, 2010) the Selmer corporation had the idea to reissue 10 more Selmer guitars. They approached one of the most accomplished luthiers in France and had him build two prototypes. The first one, #881, is now owned by Bireli Lagrene. The second prototype (#943) was sold by us years ago.
Selmer was very impressed with these replicas but in the end decided it was too much trouble to get back into the guitar business after all these years.
Here's a chance to own a piece of history at the fraction of the price that vintage Selmers go for! With vintage Maccaferris fetching prices around $50K, this meticulous replica offers the opportunity to own something with some old world charm for far less than the originals.

Amenities include solid Indian rosewood back and sides, spruce top, Gallato tuners, HSC tailpiece, and a walnut neck with a Busato style spline (it actually has twin ebony neck splines, a unique Lebreton feature).
Sonically this instrument is nothing short of astounding! It posses every element required of an exquisite sounding Selmer copy: dry tone, rounded highs, warm mids, tight bass, and lots of volume. The balance of this instrument is near perfect, making it very forgiving and easy to record or amplify. Also, it is nearly free of overtone ringing of any kind, a problem that is the downfall of so many lesser guitars. Most importantly, it has that ineffable "Selmer tone" that makes anything you play on it sound instantly like Django. While checking all the boxes for traditional tone and projection, this instrument simultaneously has the balance and roundness of more modern guitars making it very versatile and exceptionally musical. If you're looking for warmth and roundness of tone than this instrument is for you. Lebreton excels at producing instruments which are free of the brash, overly bright qualities found in many other traditional Selmer copies. Instead, his guitars produce deep, rich mids; a full, but clear bass; and rounded highs that have enough oomph for leads without being harsh.
Playability is excellent, with comfortable 2.8mm action putting it in the range preferred by most players.
This is a guitar worth buying first and asking questions later, as workmanship and sound quality of this caliber is rarely found at this price. Here's a chance to own something really special without breaking the bank.

This unique Favino was probably a custom order as the body specs are slightly smaller than a typical Favino modele #10 with a 16 1/4" body and a 3/8" body depth. Although, I have seen one other Favino from this year with similar specs, so they may have made these slightly smaller modele #10s from time to time. The back and sides are Indian rosewood , the top is spruce, and the neck is constructed of three pieces of maple.
The hardware includes the original tailpiece and SB tuners.
The condition of the guitar is excellent, especially considering most Favino's have suffered the proverbial "Gypsy life." It has no cracks or other major damage whatsoever. There is some pickwear on the top, a few small dings and scratches, and some light fretwear.. At some point it went back to JP Favino who, in typical fashion, added his logo to the headstock and oversprayed the top.
If you like the classic Favino sound on the early Boulou Ferre recordings like Gypsy Dreams and Pour Django, Bireli's early recordings (Swing '81 and Routes to Django), or Han'sche Weiss/Lulu Reinhardt (Lulu Swing) then this is the guitar for you! This instrument produces that classic Favino tone that is honky, nasal, and full of character. There is a pronounced upper midrange hump that is nicely balanced by the gutsy bass that Favinos are famous for.
The tone of this instrument is simply glorious! The clarity, projection, and tonal balance this guitar produces are qualities found only in mature, well aged vintage instruments. Each note is comprised of an exceptionally strong fundamental, that doesn't suffer from the wild overtone ringing or brashness of newer instruments, which results in exceptionally clear, rounded lead lines and thick, complex chords. This guitar has lived a long and passionate life, with a voice that the tells the story of many long jams at the cafe or around the campfire. Every time you play it, it transports you to another era....
Favino connoisseurs generally consider his best work to be from the later 60s through the mid-70s, as earlier and later models often have design differences that make them sound and play differently. Here's a chance to own one of these highly coveted models that not only sounds incredible, but is in fantastic condition as well!

This guitar was built by Antoine Di Mauro's brother Joseph, not be confused with Antoine's son of the same name. The distinctive heart shaped sound hole clearly marks it as his work. This model is extremely rare with very few known surviving examples.
This guitar has the customary three piece neck and arched back that was typical of Franco-Sicilian makers such as Di Mauro, Busato, Bucolo, etc. The top is spruce, the neck is maple with an ebony spline, and the back and sides are made from a stunning piece of birdseye maple!
This instrument possess the much coveted dry, classic tone that is only found in the best vintage Gypsy guitars. Each note is crisp, clear, and well defined with the kind of character and complexity that only comes with age. Projection is excellent as the Di Mauro style three brace design really lets the top move. I particularly like the low-mid "growl" this guitar produces as it gives chordal work a wonderful attitude that is lacking in other, more "polite" instruments.
The condition of this instrument is very good, with new frets, and easy playing 2.8mm action. There are two small top cracks on either side of the fingerboard as well as a longer crack along the lower treble bout area of the top. There is another small top crack on the upper treble bout. They are all cleated and stable.
A Joseph Di Mauro of any kind continues to be one of the best bangs for the buck in the vintage Gypsy market. This legendary Heart Hole model is a rare find that will earn you endless bragging rights without breaking the bank!

This unique Wappen model is based on a popular design built by Mario Maccaferri's mentor Luigi Mozzanni. Wappen style guitars, also known as "shield guitars" due to their body shape, originated in Austria and are known for their small bodies and symmetrical double cutaway design. The design became popular with numerous builders including Luigi Mozzanno as well as the Spanish builder Julian Gomez Ramirez. Django can be seen playing a Ramierz wappen style guitar in the 1932 film Clair de Lune.
Riccardo based this wappen design on a Mozzani built instrument that features an increased body size (16 1/4" ) and longer scale (670mm) than is typical of more traditional wappen guitars. The larger body and scale length allow this instrument to produce the sort of tone and volume you'd expect of a full sized gypsy guitar. Additionally, this instrument features handsome cherry back sides, aged Val di Fiemme spruce top (sourced from an old piano,) and a mahogany wenge neck with a wenge fingerboard. Hardware includes a Di Mauro tailpiece and a set of nickel three on plate tuners. The unique bridge design includes a bone saddle along with bridge-end decorative inlays.
The sound of this instrument seems to speak from a bygone era, with a voice more akin to the guitars built during the 1930s Golden Era of Franco-Italian luthiery. The aged spruce works its magic, producing a mature and open tone that fills the room with ease. The heat bent top allows for a quick, snappy attack and lots, and lots of volume. This instrument produces exceptionally crisp, singing leads that are chimey and beautiful. This is a result of this guitar's wonderful high end response which is colorful, rich, and cutting. The bass response is perfectly present, but not overwhelming, resulting in excellent clarity and definition across the entire range of the instrument.
This instrument has very easy playing 2.8mm action with a very slinky, smooth feel which makes it a joy to play!
This guitar is fashion statement that will standout both visually and sonically at any gig or jam. Go ahead and treat yourself to this wonderful, unique instrument that has all the old world charm you could ever ask for!

This premium example of Anastasio's work features gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides, a spruce top, and a walnut neck. It has a set of gold three on a plate tuners and a brass tailpiece.
The condition of this instrument is very good, with no cracks or other serious damage. There are a handful of small dings, some scuff marks, and some moderate fretwear. Otherwise, this instrument is very clean and plays well with 3mm action.
Soundwise this guitar is really a gem! Typically D holes are quite bass heavy and dark, but this one is very nicely balanced. You get the richer, fuller tone associated with D holes without it being too flubby and weak. The treble range is surprisingly spunky and cutting, yet nicely rounded and warm sounding. Chords sound really big and full, with great definition and crunch. All in all, a very traditional sounding guitar that is exceptionally dry and clear, characteristics you'd pay nearly double for in most contemporary French made instruments.

The Encore model features a 640mm scale, 15 3/4 " lower bout, and a 4" body depth. The top is spruce, the back and sides are made of solid Australian blackwood and the binding is walnut. The neck is constructed of walnut. The ebony fingerboard has a modern, sleek look which is free of fingerboard markers, but does have side dots for positioning. Hardware includes a set of Waverly three on a plate tuners and a DR tailpiece.
This instrument is in excellent condition. If it weren't for some very light pickwear on the top, I'd have listed it as mint. It has no other signs of being played, even the frets look completely new. The action is set low at 2.6mm which, along with the short scale, make it a breeze to play. Chording requires very little hand strength making it a great choice for those in need of an easy player.
This guitar has a full bodied, balanced tone with much more bass and mids than is typical of a Gypsy guitar. These qualities make it very versatile and generally more modern in sound, allowing to be used in many styles but always has that Gypsy sound when you want it.
This instrument is a nice deal as it would be over $5300 new. Why not give this modern Gypsy masterpiece a whirl? I doubt you'll be disappointed....

This Montmartre model features Favino specs: 670mm scale, 16 1/2" lower bout, and a 3 5/8" body depth. The top is cedar and the back and sides are made of solid Europeam walnut. The three piece neck is maple with a walnut spline.
This guitar is outfitted with a set of Schaller three on a plate tuners and a DR tailpiece.
This slightly used example is in excellent condition. It has almost no signs of wear, and other than two almost imperceptible dings on the top, could be described as mint.
Modeled after Jacques Favinos classic design, this instrument shares many of the desirable characteristics associated with those famous vintage models. Very powerful, this instrument projects wonderfully with clear, sizzling leads and big, pianistic sounding chords. The large body produces more bass than a typical Selmer, but is not overwhelming or muddy. Most notably, the instrument is not overly nasal which is common with Favinos, giving it a more modern sound that works well with both traditional Gypsy playing as well as more contemporary hybrid styles
Shelley's base price is now $5300, and a guitar with upgrades like this one would be significantly more. Save big on this near mint example!

This is AJL's most popular model to date, the XO which features a special heat treated Thermotimber spruce top that simulates the tonal qualities of vintage instruments. The result is a guitar which looks and sounds like a mature sixty-year-old instrument.
The design is pure Selmer, with a 15 3/4" body, 670mm scale, spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a walnut neck with the traditional grafted headstock. This guitar is outfitted with AJL's beautiful vintage tailpiece and closed tuners. The interior is lacquered and the top features a heat bent pliage.
This instrument projects exceptionally well, with the cutting highs you'd expect of a vintage Selmer. The bass response is clear but not overbearing and the mids are well developed and focused. These characteristics make it exceptionally good at producing single note leads in unamplified situations. If you're looking for a guitar with brilliant highs and a nice crunchy rhythm sound, this is it!
This guitar comes with one of AJL's amazing ultra slim, ultra strong flight cases. It's so small you'd hardly believe the guitar could fit in there...and is so strong that Andreas can stand on it with out damaging the guitar inside (I'm serious, he tried it).
This guitar was built just last year and has only a few hours of playing time on it and is in perfect mint condition. It is nicely discounted and is generally a nice deal as French made guitars with similar features easily run over $6K.
This is the CASH price...add 3% if you'd like to pay with a credit card. Add 4% for international credit card orders.

This Traditional model features Selmer like dimension:15 3/4" body with a 3 7/8" body depth and a 670mm scale. The top is spruce, the back and sides are kingwood, and the neck is walnut. Hardware includes an RM tailpiece and set of Schaller Classic Deluxe tuners. The action is set at a very low 2.8mm which, along with Bob's fastidious fret work, allows for easy, buzz free playability across the entire guitar.
As the name would suggest, this model produces the sizzling highs and rich mids that are characteristic of a traditional Selmer guitar. Possessing both great power and subtly, this instrument produces a complex and beautiful tone that, paired with it's thunderous projection, results in a stunning musical experience for the player. If you're looking to recreate some of the magic of Django's original recordings, there's no doubt that this exceptional instrument can handle the task with ease.

This rare D hole Nouveau model features Selmer like dimension:15 3/4" body with a 3 13/16" body depth and a 670mm scale. The top is redwood, the back and sides are Indian rosewood, and the neck is walnut. Hardware includes an RM tailpiece and set of Schaller Classic Deluxe tuners. The action is set at a very low 2.8mm which, along with Bob's fastidious fret work, allows for easy, buzz free playability across the entire guitar.
This D hole version of the Nouveau model features a somewhat smaller D shaped soundhole than what Maccaferri used. Bob took great care to balance this instrument's tonal response as to avoid the problem that befalls so many D holes: too much bass and a wet, diffuse sound that lack clarity. This D hole produces somewhat more bass than an oval hole, but still retains much of the treble response and precision that you'd expect from a petite bouche. As a result, this is a highly versatile instrument that excels in both lead and rhythm work, and has the flexibility to venture well outside the world of Gypsy jazz, sounding good playing folk, swing, and even modern jazz.

This guitar was built by Antoine Di Mauro's brother Joseph, not be confused with Antoine's son of the same name. This f hole model by the elder Joseph is extremely rare with very few known surviving examples.
The dimensions of this instrument are typical of Joseph's work: 16 1/8" body width, 3 13/16" body depth, and a 660mm scale length. The top is spruce. The back and sides are made of birdseye maple which Joseph used extensively. As is typical with most of the Sicilian luthiers, the back is bent and the neck is reinforced with a center spline. As one of Joseph's most ornate models, this guitar features ivoroid rope binding and the Di Mauro style diamond fingerboard inlays. Hardware includes a nickel DR tailpiece and an original set of nickel SB tuners.
This instrument is in very good condition. It is completely free of top cracks and has new frets. There are signs of an impact on the lower treble bout: A few small cracks in the side laminate. some discoloration of the top, and a small bit of replaced binding. Otherwise, this instrument plays beautifully with slick 3mm action.
Seventy or so years of ageing have beautifully matured and refined the tone of this classic instrument. The mids are particularly focused, clear, and penetrating which makes this both an excellent rhythm guitar as well a very warm sounding lead guitar. With lots of character and phenomenal projection, this instrument is in a class of it's own. The balance of it's rounded highs, robust mids, and tight bass will stand out in any jam session or on the bandstand.
Many would agree that Joseph Di Mauro was among the very best builders of his generation, often matching and sometimes surpassing the refinement of tone and thunderous projection one would expect of a Busato or a Selmer. Here's a chance to get an outstanding vintage Gypsy guitar at a price far lower than that of his peers!

Of all the models Di Mauro produced, the Special Chorus is easily their most well known design. A hybrid of American archtop and Selmer Maccaferri designs, the Special Chorus combines the Maccaferri style body and bent top with archtop style F soundholes. The result is a guitar that has the acoustic power of a traditional Gypsy guitar but with the midrange focus and clarity of an archtop.
This beautiful late period example was constructed by Antoine's son Joseph. It features flamed maple back and sides, a spruce top (appears to be four pieces, with "wings" on the lower bout,) and a mahogany neck. The original nickel SB tuners and distinctive Di Mauro trapeze tailpiece are still intact. The original diamond fingerboard inlays were replaced with more typical fret markers.
I had heard that some Di Mauro's had unusually deep bodies, but till now had never seen one in person. This example has body that is 4 1/4" deep which generates deep low mids and a wonderful base response. Rich, open, and complex in character, this instrument is noteworthy for it's horn like upper mids and gently rounded highs. It can be downright pretty sounding at times, but still has a bit of grit when you need it and never lacks for personality.
The condition of this instrument is very good. There is a crack on the bass side of the top which has been cleated. It plays perfectly, with low 2.6mm action. There appears to have been a volume control module mounted on the top which is now gone. There is some finish discoloration and an indentation in the top where it once was, There is also some pickwear on the top and scratches on the back. The frets are new.
The Special Chorus has always been one of the most fashionable guitars on the bandstand. This one not only looks great, but has the sound to back it up. Don't miss out, call now!

This unique small bodied example was constructed of premium materials: spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The unique ebony bridge is likely a later modification. Hardware includes a set of DR tuners and a DR tailpiece. The bracing pattern in unlike anything I've seen before on a Gypsy guitar. It's fan braced like a classical guitar, with only three ladder braces (2 of which are between the soundhole and the neck block.) The lower bout area of the guitar is entirely fan braced.
Small, light, and supremely resonant, this wonderful vintage instrument has a sound which is pure magic! Over half a century of aging has resulted in a mature tone that is full of character and beauty. The sound is clear, direct, and punchy with singing highs and a tight, well defined low end. It projects wonderfully, and the short scale and small body make it one of the easiest playing guitars in the shop.
This instrument is in very good condition. There are three top cracks which were cleated and are stable. The frets were replaced and have minimal wear. Otherwise, this instrument is remarkably well preserved and plays easily with very slinky 2.6mm action.
Grab this one of a kind beauty while you can!

This one of a kind model is a bench copy of a short scale, 12 fret transitional model Selmer (see: 1934 Selmer Petite Bouche Transitional Model.) In the mid 1930s, Selmer was transitioning from the original D hole design created by Mario Maccaferri to an oval hole model that would better meet the needs of professional guitarists. This model features the unique configuration of an oval soundhole with a short scale, 12 fret neck. A similar model was made most famous by Django in the legendary J'Attendrai video.
This instrument features a spruce top, highly figured Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a walnut neck with a Selmer style grafted headstock. Hardware includes a set of Eimers Selmer replica closed tuners and a brass tailpiece.
Weighing in at only 3.7 lbs, this guitar is exceptionally light weight and resonant, evoking the sound and feel of the great vintage Selmers of yesteryear. Like a good vintage instrument, this guitar has exceptional clarity of tone, with a warm, balanced character. The tone of this instrument is noteworthy for its depth and body that is beautifully paired with a snappy, punchy high end. It's massive chordal sound makes it a wonderful rhythm guitar, yet it still has more single note projection than most long scale models. I've always noticed that 12 fret guitars are noticeably more resonant, and this guitar is a perfect example of that phenomenon. You'd be hard pressed to find a 14 fret model that can match the tone and projection of this 12 fret model.
This instrument is in mint condition and is set up with easy playing 2.8mm action. It's also worth noting the short scale length makes long stretches much easier and generally lowers the overall string tension for greater playability.
Here's a chance to experience a unique period of Selmer guitar history without breaking the bank. Just one, call now!

This rare D hole Nouveau model features Selmer like dimension:15 3/4" body with a 3 13/16" body depth and a 670mm scale. This early model shows many similarities to Favino's later 1A and 1B models as well as his F hole guitars. The petite 15 1/4" body, arched birdseye maple back and birsdeye maple sides, and spruce top are characteristics we often see in later guitars. The walnut neck differs from later models as does the headstock shape. This instrument is fitted with a brass tailpiece and a set of nickel three on a plate tuners.
This exceptionally resonant instrument produces singing highs, gutsy mids, and a complex and poignant tone that has so much character and panache. These characteristics make it great for numerous applications, from swing leads to musette waltzes, it has the punch and bravado to cut through with a sort of beautiful grit. Rhythm work is a joy, as chords are well defined and cutting, allowing it to perfectly fit the sonic space between the bass and the soloist.
The condition of this instrument is very good. It has about five top cracks, several which are quite long. All have been repaired with glue and are stable. Otherwise, the instrument has been very well taken care of with just a bit of pickwear on the top. The frets are new and the instrument plays very easily with low 2.8mm action.

The body specs are typical Favino: 16 1/2" body with a 4" body depth. The back and sides are Indian Rosewood.
The sound of this guitar is pure Favino! It has the unmistakeable Favino tone which features warm, nasal mids; full bodied lows; and rounded highs. This guitar is quite dry and free of bothersome overtone ringing, making it very clear and easy to hear in group settings. It has character galore...play a chromatic run and you instantly get the gusty, hard fisted sound that the Alsatian/German Gypsies like Moreno and Hans'che Weiss are famous for. Favinos like this love to be played hard, and the more force you play this guitar with the better it sounds. Chordal work is snappy with lots of punch and attitude which is all underpinned with a rich, tight lowend. This guitar certainly does not lack personality, that is for certain!
The guitar has some battle scars. Most notably a hole in the top which was repaired. Also, there's small spot on the side which slightly caved in. There's also a little pit in the fretboard on the 1st fret which has no effect on playability or sound. It also has various small dings and places were the finish has worn off. At one point it had a bigtone but that was removed. Hardware includes a set of DR tuners and a DR tailpiece. All in all, this instrument is in pretty good shape for a guitar of it's age.
Favino connoisseurs generally consider his best work to be from the later 60s through the mid-70s, as earlier and later models often have design differences that make them sound and play differently. Here's a chance to own one of these highly coveted models that posses the tone and projection that made Favino famous!

Romane (he plays a Busato on most of his recordings over the last 5 years)
Stochelo Rosenberg (performs with his Selmer but is an avid collector and player of Busatos)
Yayo and Fanto Reinhardt (Romane's rhythm section get an amazing dry rhythm sound with their Busatos!)
Moreno and of course, Django himself! (see Django's Busato here: Django's Busato).
Django is rumored to have written the ballad Anoumanon his Busato.
So what makes a Busato so great? Generally speaking, it simply out performs other guitars in almost every way. First off, they are positively the loudest guitars ever made! I've compared Busatos to numerous classic Gypsy guitars such as Jacques Favinos and Selmers as well as new guitars by J.P. Favino, Dupont, ALD, and Dell Arte. A good Favino is pretty loud...but the Busato is just a cannon. A vintage Selmer is actually quite timid by comparison. The Busato has three tonal elements which really make it cut in acoustic settings. 1) It is extremely dry. It has little or no natural wetness (reverb.) This makes the guitar much more focused and is therefore much easier to hear in a loud jam setting. 2) The tone is very pure with very simple overtones. The fundamental pitch of single notes are very strong while the overtones are extremely clean and even. Very flute like in character. A Selmer sounds more complex, but is also somewhat "messier" sounding which dampens projection. 3) It responds to the slightest touch. Just barely strike the strings and you get a lightening fast bolt of sound. I really like this because you don't have to play these guitars hard to be loud. Busatos yield an exceedingly wide frequency response. They have a crisp, bright high end which gives your leads some sparkle and adds ambiance and clarity to rhythm work. There's not much mids, except for a slight upper midrange nasalness. But nothing like a Favino in that regard. Like a Favino, there is far more low end than a Selmer, and it's an incredibly tight, clear low end. Not mushy or ill defined in anyway. The tight low end of a Busato mixed with it's dry character really make it excel for rhythm playing. It's just so clear. The high end cracks like a whip and the bass notes are like a kick in the gut. The dimensions of Busatos are fairly close to that of Favinos. Body is 16 1/4" across the lower bout (Selmer is 15 3/4", Favino is 16 1/2".) Busatos are also the curviest Gypsy guitars out there. The bombé (top arch) is the most pronounced I've ever seen on a Selmer type guitar. It's like a huge bubble under the bridge. The back is also beautifully arched.
This guitar has walnut back and sides, a spruce top, and a three piece mahogany neck with an ebony spline in the middle. This guitar has the original BB tuners and tailpiece which are in excellent condition. As you often see with Busato's, this instrument has a 4 piece top, so the "cracks" you see in the top are actually just seams. There are no actual top cracks, and generally the instrument is in very good condition. There appears to have been a pickguard at one point but no there is just some discoloration to the wood in that area, There is an unusual metal plate screwed into the back, close to the tailpiece. Perhaps it was for a pickup of some sort? Otherwise, the instrument is quite clean and plays very nicely. There is some light fretwear.
It should be noted that there were many, many Busato models. Many of which seem to be experiments. This model, which is often referred to as the "Grand Modèle" (oval hole, 14 fret neck), is the one preferred by the pros like Stochelo, Romane, Moreno, etc. Busato's catalog lists this model as item #44.
This guitar is the archetypal Busato, with a bold, clear tone that knocks every note to the back of the hall. The highs sizzle and the lows thump loudly, giving it a character and charm that evokes the Gypsy jams of yore. It is especially well suited to players with a light touch, as it takes very little force to make yourself heard. In fact, it's so loud it seems to defy the laws of physics! No doubt, this outstanding Busato will be the treasure of a lifetime for some lucky owner. You just don't find ones this good very often....

While the price of guitars made by Busato (along with other Italian makers such as Favino and Maccaferri) have skyrocketed in recent years, Castelluccia's have been largely overlooked. But after playing this guitar, I think anyone would agree that Castelluccia was also capable of building guitars on par with his more famous contemporaries.
This instrument features Selmer like dimensions: 675mm scale, a 16" body, and 3 10/16" deep. Castelluccia's ultra lightweight three brace design weighs in at only 3.8 lbs, among the lightest guitars I've ever had in the shop. The back and sides are Cuban mahogany, the top is spruce, and the neck is mahogany.
The condition of this instrument is very good! There are no serious cracks or major modifications. The frets were replaced and have very little wear. Hardware includes a set of gold Schaller Classic Deluxe tuners and a nickel DR tailpiece. It's an easy player, with comfortable 2.6mm action.
As is often the case with Castelluccias from this era, there is a Symphonia label. The Symphonia retail shop frequently commissioned guitars from Jacques Castellucia.
This instrument has a powerful voice, producing the sort of volume few guitars can match. It's the ultimate campfire guitar as it's powerful single note lines will cut through just about anything. If you need an amp free solution for busking or jamming, this is it! The tone is full of the old world character and mojo that only decades of smokey French bar gigs can yield.
This model was made famous by Dorado Schmitt who played a similar Castelluccia in the Bireli Lagrene Live Jazz a Vienne DVD.
This instrument produces vintage power and tone for less than what most new French guitars cost. Why wait? Come experience the magic of a vintage instrument today!

This guitar was built by Antoine Di Mauro's brother Joseph, not be confused with Antoine's son of the same name. This f hole model by the elder Joseph is extremely rare with very few known surviving examples.
The dimensions of this instrument are typical of Joseph's work: 16 1/8" body width, 3 7/8" body depth, and a 660mm scale length. Hardware includes a nickel trapeze tailpiece and a set of DM tuners.
This instrument is in excellent condition. There is one small top crack that runs along the treble side of the fingerboard. Other than that, the instrument just has a small number of dings and scratches, far less than you'd expect of an instrument of this age. The frets have some very light wear. This guitar is amazingly well preserved for it's age and, after all these years, is still quite stunning both sonically and visually!
The top of this instrument has a very shallow bend, hence it produces a warm and full tone. The chordal sound of this guitar is particularly noteworthy for it's rich, thick character that is ideal for filling out the rhythm section of any Gypsy group. Single notes are round with lots of body which is particularly nice for unaccompanied solo playing. This is a fantastic instrument for a full time rhythm player or a lead player looking for a less aggressive tone than is typical of your average Gypsy guitar.

In this early period Jacques Favino didn't have employees so each guitar was hand crafted himself. Even though 70s Favinos are considered Jacques Favinos up untill late 1978, the truth is there were four people working in the shop at that time. You have to go back to the 60s to get a guitar that was made entirely by Jacques Favino.
This is the earliest example of Jacques Favino's famous modele #10 I've ever seen. Jacques didn't number his guitars till many years later, so it's hard to know how many came before it. This may well be the very first modele #10! Hard to know for sure, but the extreme rarity of modele #10 Favinos from the early 60s would suggest that this is one of the first ever built.
The specs are typical of the modele #10: 16 1/2" body with 675mm scale length. The body is a bit slimmer than you usually see at 3 1/2" deep. The top is spruce, the back and sides appear to be cocobolo (only Favino I've seen with this wood!,) and the neck is three piece maple. The original hardware includes a nickel tailpiece and a set of nickel SB tuners.
This instrument is in excellent condition, with few signs of wear and no major damage to speak of. Other than some light finish checking, a few dings, and some light frewear, it's pretty well perfect! It is strung with 11 gauge Argentines and the action is set at 3mm.
I absolutely guarantee you will not be disappointed with the sound of this guitar. It has the projection and tone you only find in the very best vintage guitars. The tone is warm and complex with just enough bite. It has a very dry sound that is crisp and clear. It also has that "Gypsy attitude" you hear in Favino players such as Moreno, Boulou Ferre, and Han'sche Weiss. Even nice Favinos from the 70s sound small compared to this cannon! It just shakes the ground when you play it!

While loosely based on a Selmer, this unique design is in essence a "slimline" Gypsy guitar of sorts. The 15 15/16" body is just 3 1/2" deep, making it extremely comfortable to play. It has a spruce top which is supported by only three braces. The back and sides are constructed of highly figured walnut. The three piece walnut neck was built in the Sicilian style, with an ebony spline. Hardware includes a set of the highly coveted BB tuners and a BB tailpiece.
The three brace design and soundhole shape are very reminiscent of Castelluccia's work so this instrument could have been constructed in that shop or by someone who had worked there. While the instrument does have Busato hardware, it doesn't appear to be original to the guitar.
The sound of this instrument is big, bold, and full with lots of character and projection. It most certainly makes a great rhythm guitar as it produces thick, meaty chords that sound almost like two guitars playing at once. But it's also quite snappy, with nice single note projection that results in easily audible leads that have a lot of depth, warmth, and roundness.
This instrument is remarkably well preserved, with no major damage and completely free of cracks. It has numerous dings and scratches that are consistent with light use and the replaced frets have little wear. It's easy to play and all the notes sound clearly up and down the neck.
This is a rare opportunity to own a guitar with great vintage sound for less. Why wait for the next $20K Busato when you can have this fine sounding guitar for a fraction of the price?

This Traditional model features Selmer like dimension:15 3/4" body with a 3 15/16" body depth and a 670mm scale. The top is redwood, the back and sides are Indian rosewood, and the neck is walnut. Hardware includes an DR tailpiece and set of Schaller Classic Deluxe tuners.

This example, which is near perfect original condition, was owned for many decades by Gypsy jazz legend Fapy Lafterin.
This one is really a dream come true as it has everything you could ever want in a vintage Selmer: Pristine condition, outstanding tone and projection, ulrra-rare Brazilian back and sides, and the easy playability you'd expect of a contemporary instrument. 1947 was arguably the high point of Selmer's guitar production as instruments from this period are known for their near perfect balance of tone, projection, and stability. Some of Django's best sounding acoustic recordings where from the Rome sessions which were done with a 1947 Selmer (#704.) This guitar exemplifies all of those qualities as it's tone is sublime an it's projection thunderous.
This is the best preserved Selmer guitar I've ever seen! The condition is simply breathtaking, with only a few sings of wear. The hardware is all original and in excellent condition. There are a few scratches and a bit of finish has rubbed off behind the treble moustache piece (possibly from the use of an Stimer ST51 control box.) There is one top crack on the bass side lowerbout. It has been cleated and is stable. The are some small, inconsequential indentations along the back of the neck as well as some moderate fretwear.
As you would expect, the tone of this instrument is simply sublime! It has a near perfect balance of mids and treble, allowing it to produce rich, luscious chords and clear, penetrating single note lines. Moreover, it has an ineffable character that is mature, exotic, and powerful; qualities one only finds in the very best vintage instruments. I should also mention that it is nothing short of a note cannon, with the sort of projection that boggles the mind! It's no wonder Fapy kept this one for so long (he owned several dozen Selmers during his career, and this is among the very best.)
This is a wonderful opportunity to own a Selmer "celebrity" guitar that is exemplary in both its condition and sound. A once in a decade, perhaps once in a lifetime opportunity!

After the departure of Mario Maccaferri in 1933, Selmer began to modify his original design to better meet the needs of professional guitarists. The principal modifications were the removal of the internal soundbox and the abandonment of the D shaped soundhole. Selmer's guitars from this period mostly feature smaller, oval soundholes, but a select few have a round soundhole like the example listed here. Other than the soundhole, this guitar is identical in specs to the earlier Macafferri models, so it has a 640mm scale, 12 fret neck, and four brace top. The Selmer guitar later evolved into a longer, 670mm scale instrument with a 14 fret neck and a five brace top.
Most luthiers will agree that a 12 fret neck produces a more balanced, fuller, and warmer tone than a 14 fret neck instrument. That is certainly true with this guitar which has a near perfect tonal balance, producing beautifully rounded highs, thick mids, and a full, clear bass. It has enough cut for lead playing and chords have a bigger than life, pianistic like quality to them. Just one strum, and you'll realize they just don't make them like this anymore!
The condition of this instrument is very good, with all the original hardware intact and no major repairs. There are numerous top cracks, all of which have been repaired with glue or cleats and are stable. The frets were replaced and have some mild wear.
Here's a chance to own one of the rarest and most collectable Selmers ever made. Get it while it lasts!

Gibson introduced the "Advanced" model L-5 in 1935, bumping up the body size to 17" and lengthening the scale to 25 1/2". While these changes were welcomed by acoustic big band rhythm players who were seeking greater power and projection, many missed the balance, versatility, and tonal complexity of the smaller 16" L-5s. Fortunately, Gibson kept the 16" option available by redesigning the L-4 along the lines of the old 16" L-5, retaining nearly all the original specs and adding a few new twists including ornate banjo style fingerboard inlays and a flared headstock. Vintage 16" L-5s are one of the most highly coveted of all Gibson archtops, making this nearly identical, yet much more affordable, sister model one of the best deals in the world of vintage archtops.
This instrument was constructed from some of the best materials Gibson had to offer: a gorgeous flamed maple back, maple sides, a mahogany neck, and a carved spruce top. Original hardware includes a set of Grover Sta-Tite tuners and nickel tailpiece trapeze tailpiece. Updates include a new pickguard mounted with a DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup along with tone and volume controls.
Anyone who has shopped for a good sounding acoustic archtop these days will tell you just how frustrating it can be. As electrics began to take over in the late 30s, Gibson largely gave up on trying to build light weight, highly resonant acoustic archtops in favor of heavier designs that reduced feedback. Now largely a lost art, only a few high priced boutique builders take acoustic archtops seriously, making the search for an acoustic archtop difficult and often very expensive. Fortunately, this well preserved example from the "Golden Era" of acoustic archtops can go toe to toe with the best L-5s out there at a much more affordable price.
With tonewoods nearly a century old, this instrument produces the rich, complex acoustic tone I've only heard in 20s era L-5s. It's featherweight construction and carefully carved top and back are in line with Lloyd Loar's violin based principles for maximum resonance and balance. This instrument projects very well, making it perfect for unplugged performances. It also posses the liquid sounding "natural reverb" that the 20's L-5 are so famous for. The addition of the DeArmond pickup allows for amplification if need be without compromising the instrument's acoustic charms.
This instrument is in excellent condition, with no structural damage or cracks. Other than a smattering of dings and scratches typical of it's age, it's in excellent health. There is a small finish flaw where the neck meets the headstock that appears to have been the result of some glue leaking out of the nut. The label is missing but the specs of this guitar were only manufactured from 1935-1939.
Here's a chance to join a very elite club of vintage 16" Gibson archtop owners without having to take out a second mortgage. Just one, call now!

Dupont's Gypsy models are built entirely in Cognac, France by master luthiers Patrick (who joined the Dupont team in 1994) and Mathias (since 2002) under the supervision of Maurice Dupont. The collective experience.of the Dupont team along with Maurice's stock of well aged, select tonewoods yields instruments of unsurpassed tone and playability.
The MD50 is Maurice's standard Selmer copy which is based on the same specifications as the legendary Selmer guitars produced from 1932-1951. This instrument features Indian rosewood back and sides, a French spruce top, and a walnut neck. Duponts are known for their clear, dry tone and this instrument is no exception. Each note is well defined and projects well, without any of the annoying overtone ringing or muddiness that lesser guitars suffer from.
Maurice's precision fretwork and neck geometry allow for easy playing low action which enables one to play even the most difficult passages with little effort. For these reasons, the MD50 has long been the "go to" guitar for professional Gypsy jazz guitarists. It has the most traditional Selmer tone and the best quality workmanship and materials that one can find in this price range. For these reasons it's our best selling guitar!
Left-handed Gypsy guitars are rarer than hen's teeth. Grab this dead mint one while it lasts!

The Modèle Encore features Selmer dimensions: 670mm scale, 15 3/4" lower bout, and a 4" body depth. The top is spruce and the back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood. The neck is walnut and the body has walnut binding.
The guitar is outfitted with a set of three on a plate tuners, a DR tailpiece, and a bigtone pickup.
This instrument has a warm, balanced tone that has none of the harshness one often hears in more traditional Gypsy guitars. It produces fat, full bodied chords and silky, pure leads. It's easily the most playable guitar here right now, with low 2.6mm action that allows for fast, effortless playing.
This slightly used example is in excellent condition. It has few signs of wear other than a few small scratches, light pickwear, mild tailpiece corrosion, and some moderate fretwear.
Shelley's base price is now $5300, and a guitar with upgrades like this one (i.e. bigtone pickup) would be significantly more. Save big on this excellent example!

While Michael's instruments are clearly based on Mario Maccaferri's original designs, they are much more than mere copies. Always unique, Michael's guitars are a breath of fresh air in the very conservative world of Selmer guitars. His willingness to experiment with materials, design, and aesthetics appeals to those looking for something different.
This beautiful Belleville model, Michael's most popular model which was played by Chet Atkins, features a 670mm scale, 14 fret neck, 16 1/4" body, and a 1 7/8" nut. The top is spruce, the back and sides are satinwood, and the neck is mahogany. This guitar also features rosewood binding and "bridged" moustache pieces which reduce dampening.
The sound of this guitar is focused and clear, with a strong midrange that adds a horn like quality the lead lines and richness to chordal playing. It has an exceptional amount of sustain, which allows your single note lines to sing effortlessly. And like most of Michael Dunn's guitars, this instrument is quite loud with enough projection to see you through most acoustic performance situations. The prodigious bass response gives chords a larger than life, pianistic quality that is well suited for both rhythmic accompaniment and solo, unaccompanied pieces.
The playability of this guitar is beyond excellent with low 2.8mm action
This instrument is in excellent condition with only a few signs of moderate use. There are a few small scracthes and dings on the top and just a slight bit of fretwear. Otherwise, a very clean example of Dunn's work.
Includes DATT hardshell case.

This is Craig's Selmer style model which is modeled closely after the original Selmer petite bouche design. It features a slightly larger 16" body and a 670mm scale. The top was constructed from a fine piece of sitka spruce and was heat bent in the manner of the original Selmers (a heat bent pliage top is a high end feature normally reserved for flagship models double the price of this instrument!) Craig opted for beautiful koa back and sides. The neck was fashioned from an attractive piece of butternut walnut. This instrument has been outfitted with a set of Swiss made Miller tuners and a Miller tailpiece.
This instrument is noteworthy for it's robust bass response and very clear, trebles that provide plenty of cutting power for acoustic leads.
This instrument is in excellent condition. There is a smattering of smaller dings and scratches on the top, but otherwise it's very clean. The frets appear to have almost no wear.
It is rare I have handmade guitars of this quality for under $4000, and even rarer ones that sound this good. This instrument is no doubt a fantastic deal so take advantage of this attractive price as I'm sure Craig's prices will go up has his reputation grows.

The hardware includes the original tailpiece and SB tuners.
The condition of the guitar is excellent, especially considering most Favino's have suffered the proverbial "Gypsy life." It has no cracks or other major damage whatsoever. There is some pickwear on the top and a few small dings and scratches. There is some light fretwear, and a small bit of finish has rubbed off around the player contact points of the side and back.
The label for this guitar is missing, so we don't have a precise serial # or production date. However, the features of this guitar conform with Favino's production from the mid to late 1960s.
Favino connoisseurs generally consider his best work to be from the later 60s through the mid-70s, as earlier and later models often have design differences that make them sound and play differently. Here's a chance to own one of these highly coveted models that not only sounds incredible, but is in fantastic condition as well!

An homage to the well loved Di Mauro Chorus model, this guitar features F shaped sound holes, Indian rosewood back and sides, a spruce top, and a walnut neck. Hardware includes a DR tailpiece and a set of Gotoh tuners.
The sound of this model combines the midrange focus and more rounded highs of an archtop with the power and projection of a Gypsy guitar. Highly versatile, it's capable of spitting out fiery Gypsy leads one moment and then chugging out some Freddie Green style flat four swing rhythm the next. It's also particularly well suited to unaccompanied solo playing as the warm midrange adds a fullness and warmth you usually don't hear in most Gypsy guitars.
An instrument with premium woods and traditional building techniques is unheard of in this price range. Don't miss the opportunity to own something very special for far less!

This instrument features Selmer like dimensions: 675mm scale, a 16" body, and 3 13/16" deep. Castelluccia's ultra lightweight three brace design weighs in at only 3.5 lbs, among the lightest guitars I've ever had in the shop. The back and sides are Cuban mahogany, the top is spruce, and the neck is mahogany.
The condition of this instrument is very good! There are no serious cracks or major modifications. This instrument was recently professionally setup, including new frets and saddle. It's an easy player, with comfortable 3mm action.
As is often the case with Castelluccias from this era, there is a Paul Beuscher label. Beuscher frequently commissioned guitars from Jacques Castellucia.

This instrument evokes the great Favinos of the 1970s, with a full bodied tone and volume galore. You'll have no problem being heard as this guitar is an absolute cannon! As you'd expect with a Favino, it also has a deeper bass response and those characteristic juicy mids which result in fat lead lines and massive, pianistic chords.
An instrument with premium woods and traditional building techniques is unheard of in this price range. Don't miss the opportunity to own something very special for far less!

The Modèle Encore features Selmer dimensions: 670mm scale, 15 3/4" lower bout, and a 4" body depth. The top is European spruce and the back and sides are made of solid Indian rosewood. The neck is walnut and the body has koa binding.
It's easily the most playable guitar here right now, with exceptionally low 2.2mm action that allows for fast, effortless playing.
This slightly used example is in excellent condition. It has almost no signs of wear, and other than two almost imperceptible dings on the top, could be described as mint.
Shelley's base price is now $5300, and a guitar with upgrades like this one (i.e. bigtone pickup) would be significantly more. Save big on this near mint example!

This Selmer copy is very traditional, with a spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, and a two piece walnut neck. Specs are typically Selmer, with a 15 3/4" body and a 670mm scale length. It is outfitted with a DR tailpiece and a set of brass Grover butter bean tuners. A few modern aesthetic touches include front and back ebony veneers on the headstock, a modern style "dotless" fingerboard, and a very slim heel for better high fret access.
This instrument has a wonderful balance, with a robust midrange characteristic of some of the best vintage Selmers. The bass register is prominent, yet tight and controlled while the highs are crisp, yet not harsh. These characteristics yield large, full bodied chords and smooth, singing lead lines which are reminiscent of Django's Rome sessions recordings.
The condition of this instrument is good, with a treble side top crack that has been cleated, a small streak of finish damage on the back, and an engraved name on he back of the headstock. There are numerous dings and scratches, and some moderate fret wear.
It's not often I have any handmade instruments under $3K, so this is a rare opportunity to get a luthier built instrument for less.

This guitar was commissioned by Jean Beuscher, a prominent Parisian luthier who purchased Selmer's leftover stock after their guitar production had ceased. Jacques Favino claimed to have made about ten guitars for Beuscher using Selmer stock, but this is the only one I've ever come across. While the headstock bears the Selmer logo, the internal label is that of Pierre Beuscher who was Jean's brother.
This instrument was at one time owned by the mandolin legend David Grisman. He had British guitarist Martin Taylor play this very guitar on his popular Tone Poem's CD.
The condition of this instrument is excellent. There are some small dings, finish checking, and scratches on the body of the guitar. There is also a spot on the back of the neck were some of the finish has been rubbed off and some mild fretwear. Otherwise, this instrument is very clean with no major issues. It has been professionally setup and plays easily with low 2.8mm action.
This guitar has a sound that is as unique and exciting as it looks. It produces a big, bold tone with the sort of clarity and smoothness that one only finds in finely aged instruments such as this. The high end response is particularly musical, with just the right balance of cutting power and roundness. Chords sound absolutely huge, with a prominent bass response that is well defined and clear without being overly muddy or dark.
Here's a rare opportunity to own an amazing piece of Gypsy jazz history! This rare combination of Selmer and Favino designs sounds incredible, looks stunning, and is likely the only surviving example of it's kind. Just one, call now!

This Traditional model features Selmer like dimension:15 3/4" body with a 3 15/16" body depth and a 670mm scale. The top is Romanian spruce, the back and sides are Indian rosewood, and the neck is walnut.
