Netflix Avatar is a BIZARRE Mixed Bag | Before You Watch Netflixs Avatar Season 1 Antoine Bandele 2024-02-23 | So I just woke up after spending 8 hours binging the entire first season of Netflix’s adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender… and… what I feel inside is a mix of apathy, joy, and confusion, but not at any one thing. Unlike the M Night movie, there aren’t a whole lot of egregious things to point out. There’s no group of earthbenders trying to bend a single rock here. Instead, there’s a mix of middling quality with regard to the writing, the performances, the choreography, and the visual effects, and the show ultimately leaves me largely hollow and perplexed. But when I say middling I don’t mean it in a consistent way. It’s not as though the show is perfectly mediocre throughout.
