In this video I will talk about the dutch words I learned while on a one week Vacation in Elburg, Netherlands. I'm an American who's been living on and off in Germany for 4 years and I know German pretty well now.
In this video I will talk about my one week vacation I took in Elburg, Netherlands and I compare the cultural differences to Germany (where I’ve lived for around 4 years). in addition, I compare how it’s different from the US.
In this video I will talk about one of the (out of many) embarrassing moments in Germany, some life updates, and comparing cultures to the US.
In this video I will talk about the traumatic experience I had 3 years ago while studying in Oldenburg Germany. I was riding my bike on my way to class and I was hit by a car. I will go over how it happened and I will show clips from the actual street where it happened. The effects it left me with are quite large and what I go through these days is extremely difficult on me. Watch the video for the story.
Here is the video with the whole story how I got hit by the car:

Besides trying on many cute dresses, I ask many questions like how does German culture and fashion trends compare to English culture, what was the German bureaucracy like, and how do her customers feel about her German level and speaking English, and if she had to adjust the clothes she sells to German style or keep it British style. She was featured in the Spiegel newspaper too for opening her store at an unlucky time.
I am an American who's been living in Hamburg for a few years. This is the first video (vintage shopping) in a new series where I discover sustainable shopping spots in Hamburg. Let's reward businesses who are earth and environmentally friendly :)
What do you guys think? If you have any suggestions about sustainable shops I can visit for a future video, please comment them down below :)

In this video, I try to speak German (with my German boyfriend lol)
I've been collecting a list of German words and phrases for the last month that I've learned from watching German TV and from speaking with German friends. A few words are about dating and words I heard on dating shows. In the middle of the video you can hear me asking my German boyfriend what one of the words mean and I was not expecting that word to mean what it does! haha.
In this video I will talk about the differences I noticed while vacationing in the Netherlands for 2 weeks. I am an American who's been living in Germany for a few years so it was fun to compare everything to German culture and language. I also compared some traffic signs and some German vs dutch word differences, as well as bike lanes, roundabouts, and more.

In this video I answer many questions I have gotten like: which German level do you need to work in Germany? How do you learn German fast? Can you just work in English in Germany? Are there cultural differences between the hiring process and job interviews in the US vs Germany? Do employers in Germany help you get your visa? Why was I happy with the freelance visa... and how you can design your resume in a good way for German employers. #AmericaninGermany #Hamburg #workinginGermany #lingoda202110

In this video, I will show you the real conversations that I recorded with 3 German guys who I met on the Hellotalk language exchange app. They taught me many German phrases and I asked them to explain a few German sayings too!
How do you practice German if you don't have any German friends? This is how I do it! Learning German can be so much quicker if you can get speaking practice. So I have always had a German sprach tandem partner ever since I was in A1 German. My technique is always to do 30 minutes speaking German, then 30 minutes speaking English - this is so both of us benefit :)

*3 Pre-requisites!*
❇️ *Step one:* move to Germany as a tourist if you’re from one of these 7 countries: Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, South Korea or the US. I was able to to do this during the travel ban because my German boyfriend filled out the non-married couple invitation form: https://www.bmi.bund.de/SharedDocs/kurzmeldungen/EN/2020/08/einreise-unverheirateter-paare-en.html
❇️ *Step two:* Once you move into your room/apt in Germany, you need to register your address so that you can get the paper called the "Meldebestätigung" - You get this with the nearby foreigners office / city hall (Kundenzentrum). You have to make an in-person appointment for this at this website here: click on Einwohnerwesen then select 1 Wohnsitz, Anmeldung als Hauptwohnsitz: https://serviceportal.hamburg.de/HamburgGateway/FVP/FV/Bezirke/DigiTermin
❇️ *Step 3:* Once you have your Meldebestätigung, find the correct email for your nearest Ausländerbehörde that is in charge of your address in Hamburg (the top of your Meldebestätigung says which district is yours). To find the correct email go to this website: https://www.hamburg.de/harburg/kundenzentrum-auslaenderangelegenheiten/?fbclid=IwAR2Id311bQxmpEi2qDUQ1d9eOClZ9XZ_gh1DkEpO2Y4QstQts6MWVPSAFg8
❇️ *Step 4:* TIME TO ATTACH ALL OF YOUR DOCUMENTS AND SEND AN EMAIL (FROM STEP 3):
This is what I said in the text part of my email:
- Your name"
THE ATTACHMENTS:
1️⃣.) The Meldebestätigung (See step two above)
2️⃣.) 3 Interest letters
3️⃣.) The filled out visa application form (Antrag eines Aufenthaltstitels): Find it here: hamburg.com/contentblob/103150/b699fbe6860d429eb4c99fc4bb49d1eb/data/ae-eng-fra.pdf
4️⃣.) screenshots of your bank account balance
5️⃣.) screenshots of any income that you have coming in
6️⃣.) I included a recommendation letter from my past employer
7️⃣.) a copy of your passport page
8️⃣.) Your resume / CV in German (I used deepL.com to translate)
9️⃣.) your health insurance. Travel insurance is ok for the initial email BUT for the actual appointment they need to see a real private one. They asked me to have my real private health insurance company sign this document as proof that it meets the requirements: https://welcome.hamburg.de/contentblob/8138070/40415ff6b1c02da06f3e3adaf183d753/data/kv-anlage-6-deutsch.pdf
♦️*HOW TO GET PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE:*
➼ Barmenia was able to sign my paper for my appointment so I recommend them (I also found a sneaky way to get into TK public health insurance by finding a job and the job contract got me in)

More information about how I learned German below (I learned most of it at University in Germany besides one semester with a private German tutor from italki):
My italki full review video: youtu.be/WUmxaHfjtKg
My italki teacher used the textbook of my choice (linked below) during our fully customisable lessons so when I told her I wanted to learn the B1 level in 2 months, we worked out a plan to make that happen.
🔵 In this video I will show 5 clips of me speaking German between 2 years from 2018 to 2020 (from A1 to B2.1).
The first clip I was at the A1 level and just began taking classes at the university of Oldenburg in Germany, then I continued to take A2, then B1 with a private online native German tutor (info below).
The second to last clip I was enrolled in the B2 course and then I quit somewhere in the middle of the class so I did not fully finish the B2 level but I was almost there. I can speak fluently which I think is the most obvious change from the beginning to the end of the video.

🔵 The textbook I used with my italki teacher is from "Netzwerk - Deutsch als Fremdsprache" and it's also the textbook we used at the University of Oldenburg for all of my German classes: (each level comes with a Kursbuch and an Arbeitsbuch. The teacher teaches you lessons out of the Kursbuch and the homework you do is in the Arbeitsbuch)
🔵 A1 Netzwerk workbook: amzn.to/3eswMb8
🔵 A1 Netzwerk coursebook: amzn.to/3l5cNAc
🔵 A2: (I can't find this Netzwerk book on amazon sorry)
🔵 B1.1 Netzwerk Kurs and Arbeitsbuch: amzn.to/3rPr0n4
🔵 B1.2 Netzwerk Kurs and Arbeitsbuch: amzn.to/2NqMTdq
🔵 The B2 textbook we used at the University in Oldenburg to prepare us for University in Germany and to pass the entrance exam (for advanced learning):
Mittelpunkt neu B2: amzn.to/38qWMQj
🔵 An easier B2 textbook that is for daily life and not just University (the book that Goethe uses) would be:
B2: Aspekt neu Mittelstufe Deutsch: amzn.to/3qtTUbq

In this video, I compare the differences that I noticed between my German boyfriends that I've had and the American boyfriends that I had! (US vs Germany). So: the dating differences. I've lived in Germany for 2.5 years so I've had some time to collect some differences :) I also talk about subjects of: Body hair, armpit hair, hair style, compared to California style, directness, shorts, dating apps, meetings in bars and clubs, being approached, the talk: asking will you be my girlfriend?, who pays for dates, being TOO honest, WhatsApp communication style, pet-names: Schatz, Babe, Sweetie, Süßer, Süße, longterm differences: marriage expectation 5 vs 10 years, not getting married? Married before age 30?

I hope you like this fun little comparison of the two shows :) Der Bachelor vs the Bachelor! SO many cultural differences! OH! I forgot two things in the list! 1.) "The rose ceremony" is called "the decision" in German - "die Entscheidung" and also, 2.) the German bachelor gives a little speech before every rose to the girls which is unlike the US bachelor - he doesn't say a little speech and just hands out the roses silently by just saying their names.
Marriage in Germany is different from Marriage in the US?
Kissing in Germany is different too?
Dating differences?

I explain in the video why I'm happy I didn't buy the sony ZV1! I was able to compare the Sony ZV1 and the Sony a6400 in a nearby camera shop and the ZV1 was not worth it for my needs!
In this video I tested out many features including: the color picture profiles and what they look like color corrected / color correction side by side with adobe premiere pro. I tested out the zoom feature, the face tracking feature - walking close to the camera and away and out of frame and back in frame, I tested out some movement by jumping on the trampoline and swimming on the swings at a park.
This video was filmed using the kit-lens that the camera came with and the built-in microphone! (I will be using a rode external microphone and a gimbal in a future video (they are being shipped currently) so look out for that review video in the future!)
We got to take a tour and mini sightseeing of Hafencity and Speicherstadt, Hamburg,

Hi! My name is Lamblike, I am an American girl who is currently living in Hamburg, Germany!
I have lived in Hamburg for my exchange semester during my bachelor's degree in 2016 and I also lived in Oldenburg, Germany for 2.5 years 2017-2019 where I studied an english speaking masters program and took intensive German language classes. I am on youtube to share my love of learning about other cultures: specifically, German culture. I plan to make many videos where I compare American and German culture, including some videos where I will practice German. Please subscribe, like the video, and follow along every week for a new video. :)
In this video, my German boyfriend takes me to the Ostsee (the Baltic Sea in English) and we also practice German in different settings like at the beach, while shopping, and trying on clothes. This video was sponsored by Rosetta Stone :)

In this video, I talk about how I learned German - how I got to B1 level which is where I am now. (I'm almost to B2.... kind of). I passed the official German university level B1 exam so I just need to improve my vocabulary.
Here’s the textbooks that the university in Oldenburg used and what I used with my private tutor:

*C-TEST TIPS:*
This email below I got from Oldenburg University when I was invited to take the C-test and these practice tests helped me SO MUCH! I worked with a private tutor on these tests below and that showed me what I really needed to work on! (For me, adjective endings were the MOST important thing I had to learn since the C-test tests you A LOT on that)

In this video, Ryan (from Ryan the Language Lover) and I speak to each other in only German! I saw that he was new to youtube and I had no idea what his story was but I saw he had been learning German for many years just like me so I thought it would be fun to try to get to know each other ONLY in German since that was exactly the situation I experienced when I was in Germany in my B2 German class - many of the students could not speak English so the only way we could get to know each other was with the German we had been learning. Newly meeting Internationals speaking only a foreign language to each other. This brought back many memories for me from my time studying in Germany :)
