Automatically collapsible helmet prototype. Daft Punk stylized. Seashell design. KITT 2021-04-16 | thingiverse.com/thing:4868295So i decided that i need more experience in collapsible mechanics before diving into more complicated designs. I showed a 3d model of this prototype to a friend of mine and he said that it looked like a Daft Punk helmet. So i painted it gold and black to match the style. And i could not resist being a character.Once again, i'm after mechanics, not aesthetics. And i'm mostly satisfied. It uses two motors and a fishing line to both open and close the helmet.I'll call it a seashell design.The printer i use gives good enough accuracy to make reasonable tolerances, but sanding was still involved. Can't make metal blade unfortunately, but it would work exactly the same. The backpack is for carrying the compressor and a tank, however small CO2 cylinders would do aswell. Iron Man Mark 3 Arm KITT 2020-08-13 | The idea was to keep both screen accuracy and fair armor features so finishing look is far from perfect.This one features:- Rotating lower arm with a missile pod (like it was in the movie)- Hard inner elbow cover plate. It slides inside the lower arm so I can move my arm around. Not covering the whole inner surface leaving some gaps but as a proof of concept - will do. Still better than a cloth.- Actual wrist connector- Fingers segments are connected with each other like a knight armor glove. Not very screen accurate but saved me some time, took it from my another project that is hopefully coming up soon.- Missile pod open/close. It was designed to move as it does on-screen but unfortunately it didn't really work out, due to wobbles and misalignments (paint makes it all thicker and heavier) it could not close properly without seams so here it is permanently closed.
