The Coincidence ProjectMeaningful coincidences occur between humans, and also with the rest of nature, including animals, trees, plants and celestial phenomena, giving us a felt experience of interconnectedness with the world around us. Stories and myths across the world describe animals and plants serving as mirrors, messengers, connecting us to departed loved ones, appearing as totems or 'spirit animals', offering insightful teaching and healing, even seeming to communicate with us.
Join our hosts, Matthew Zylstra, PhD and Juliet Trail, PhD, as we explore why these experiences are important, what kinds of experiences are common, and what the implications are for living together in a more connected, compassionate way on the earth.

Maybe you’ve come to rely on “lucky numbers,” or perhaps you’ve experienced a certain pattern of digits that seemed, somehow, to signify a significant personal shift? In this session of the monthly Coincidence Cafe of The Coincidence Project, hosts Brian Carr and Tugce Tasci explore into the mysteries and potential meanings of number-related synchronicities. As always, Cafe participants also join in to share their own stories, insights, and reflections!
About Our Hosts: Brian Carr is an aspiring meta-physicist, who has been exploring the realms of metaphysics and parapsychology for alamost twenty years. (Georgia, USA)
Throughout history, anomalous phenomena have, at certain times, either become more common, or have been noticed more often. In either case, it can be seen as an indication that the cosmic kaleidoscope is turning once more. We are living in such an era.
In this session of the monthly Speaker Series, we will discuss evidence that human beings are changing and that part of the reason for this change is a gradual dissolution of boundaries that have stood for millennia. We suggest that coincidences and synchronistic experiences are indications that we are embedded in a profoundly psychic, intense, dynamically vibrant Web that is richly conscious, multileveled and polysemous. A Web in which separation is seen to be an illusion and consciousness transcends our ordinary understanding of both time and space.

The conceptualization of synchronicity by Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung and its central tenet of acausal meaning challenged his credibility as a scientist. His formal definition focused therefore on a scientific exploration of the acausal connection and the presence of archetypes as essential structuring features.
But the experience of deep meaning that accompanies big synchronicities possesses a deeply emotional feeling tone that is often lost in such intellectual discussions. In this session of the monthly Speaker Series, we explore the phenomenon of meaning from the perspective of feminine structure, not to contradict Jung’s approach but to round it out through a holistic, soul-inclusive approach.

Her corporate experience includes nearly 30 years in aerospace engineering, project management, and strategy development. An avid student of Jungian psychology, she incorporates the principles of synchronicity and symbolism from dreams and mythology into her coaching practice. Dr. Cavalli is passionate about the deep interconnectedness of all things, and offers seminars and workshops weaving together insights from complexity science and ancient wisdom traditions. Sue Kientz explains the special connection between astrology and meaningful coincidences, how each gives a unique insight into one’s life by reflecting a personal narrative that can be interpreted. Whether you spot a meaningful coincidence happening spontaneously or you reference an astrology chart, each mirrors back your current life’s path with specific guidance. Sue will explain how this might happen, what professional astrologers look for in charts during a consultation, and how astrology resembles the structure of synchronicities – and can assist us in gauging the importance of one.
In addition, participants will be introduced to the most consequential new dwarf planets and their astrological meaning and hear why their appearance is a breakthrough for astrology, one promising to help us navigate the anticipated challenging times ahead. We will close with a Q&A session, so bring your curiosity and your questions! This session is free and open to all, with pre-registration required.
About Our Presenter
Sue Kientz, M.A., is an astrologer and a technical writer and researcher, and author of More Plutos (2015), the definitive book on new Dwarf Planets for astrologers, covering Eris, Makemake, Haumea, Sedna, and more. Sue experienced her first synchronicity in 1981, which she named “parallel situations,” unaware of Jung’s work. She has devoted her life to understanding and explaining both astrology and synchronicity and now believes they serve the same function and differ mostly in accessibility — astrology requires learning its symbolic language and analysis techniques, while meaningful coincidences need one to simply pay attention and be open to numinous experience.Let’s “CoincidAnce”! Learn more: thecoincidenceproject.net/events_participate
Carl Jung’s major essay about synchronicity was originally published in a joint book, The Interpretation of Nature and the Psyche, alongside an essay about Kepler by the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli. When English translations of the essays were being prepared, Pauli was urged by his physics colleagues to publish his essay separately from Jung’s. However, Pauli insisted that the essays should continue to be published together: “The book is itself a fateful ‘synchronicity,’” he wrote with emphasis, “and must remain one.”
In this presentation, Dr. Main take Pauli’s comment seriously, perhaps more seriously than he intended, and look at his and Jung’s joint book as though it were a synchronicity. If the “psychic” and “physical” components of the book, namely, the essay of Jung the psychologist and the essay of Pauli the physicist, are acausally connected through meaning, what is that meaning? As can be done with synchronicities generally, I offer an interpretation of the book in relation to various levels of meaning that can be elicited from it: from the parallels between the book’s component essays, to the sense of numinosity that it evokes, to its transformational significance for its two authors, and finally to its possible transpersonal or archetypal significance.

How should we interpret people having visions, or seeing ghosts, or hearing voices, or receiving personal messages from the radio, or confidently predicting a future event? In psychiatric settings, these experiences are described as “illusions,” “hallucinations,” “ideas of reference” or “delusions.” These are all generally viewed as signs of psychosis. However, in other circumstances, such phenomena might represent a valid transpersonal experience, a spiritual awakening or a meaningful coincidence.
Chris draws on more than forty years of clinical experience gained as a senior psychologist in psychiatric hospitals and in his private practice. He shares examples from his psychotherapy clients as well as his own personal experience with synchronistic events.
About Chris Mackey: Chris is committed to promoting optimistic and effective approaches in mental health care. He has presented at numerous national and international scientific conferences over the past 25 years on such topics as psychological therapy for trauma reactions and drawing on synchronicity in psychotherapy. Chris was awarded the 2019 Australian Allied Health Impact Award for his clinical research, supervision of colleagues, media involvement and writing. Musical coincidences can be as simple as saying a name aloud, and moments later hearing the song of that same name play on a radio, or they can be complex and woven over years of our lives. We ask: In what ways do we have the ability to influence &/or create our life events? Einstein said, "Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." In this session, Mary Kay Landon and Juliet Trail co-host. Mary Kay Landon introduces a "coincidence exercise" to take place for the month to follow viewing/attending this session. Participate with others in a prospective exercise to see if, together, we can "seed" coincidence(s) that relate to a topic we establish in advance. For the purposes of this exercise, the topic is unexpected money, chosen because we all have a relationship with money, regardless of all other factors in our lives. You are invited to notice if you find or receive any unexpected money in positive ways (including free tickets or other materials or opportunities that would normally have a cost associated with them) that may come your way in the coming month.
