So, to take on Mountain Dew in the 90s, Coke had to come up with something totally new and exciting. In 1996, they created a new drink and called it "Mountain Dew Killer" or MDK for short. But really, let's be more creative than that – as Nathan Fielder's "Dumb Starbucks" showed, you need originality to stand out. So, in comes "Urge." Coca-Cola launched it first in Norway, and it became a hit there. People in Sweden and Denmark loved it too. In 1997, Urge set its sights on America, ready to compete with Mountain Dew. Coca-Cola tried to beat Mountain Dew with Mello Yello in the past, but it didn't work. They needed a new plan for the 90s. They made a drink called MDK, but that wasn't cool enough. Then they introduced "Urge" in Norway, and it became popular in Sweden and Denmark too. Finally, Urge came to the US in 1997 to challenge Mountain Dew.In the US, Mountain Dew started small in Tennessee but grew big. They even had a funny mascot and a catchy slogan. But in 1992, they changed things up to be cooler and aimed at young people. They used the slogan "Do the Dew" and put BMX bikers and skateboarders in their ads. Mountain Dew became linked to the X Games, and soon, every cool kid was drinking it while rollerblading around town, ignoring the library. To solve this, Jackson's mother, Lucretia Edgerton Jackson, came up with a brilliant idea. She recommended soaking the granula in milk or warm water to make it easier to eat and enjoy. Around the same time, a man named John Harvey Kellogg created his version of a cereal called "granula." He made a small change to the name and called it "granola." Gathering their few possessions and loved ones, the Saints returned to England. However, their dreams of freedom were short-lived, as they once again faced persecution and were even imprisoned. Undeterred by these setbacks, the Pilgrims resolved to make a perilous voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to a new land where they could establish a society based on their own beliefs. Boarding the Mayflower, a small ship, they embarked on their momentous journey in the summer of 1620. Despite encountering rough seas and enduring sickness, the Pilgrims persevered.
