I like my R22. Low pressure, simple, and plan to keep it running as long as possible at almost any cost.I couldn't find the video clips, but all three windings were OL in my old compressor. I think it initially went out on thermal overload which then broke causing all windings to be open. When the compressor iinitially failed, it was really acting erratically. It popped the breaker twice, there were sparks at the contactor. It was just odd. I actually changed the breaker and fan motor just to cover all bases. So besides the old evaporator coil condenser coil and line set, everything else is new. circuit breaker, contactor, capacitor, fan motor, and 521 hard start. I wasn't going to make this video because who's the target audience? The guys that do this for a living already know how to do it. They're not going to learn anything from me.This is not really a DIY job unless you have certification and a lot of expensive specialty tools. I had most of the tools already. Of course, things like a recovery machine and a recovery tank. There'd be no reason for me to have those but now I do. I was thinking of selling some of the things I bought, but in retrospect they're good to have around the house. Unbelievably, I just had to replace the evaporator and compressor on my true ice maker. My true ice maker compressor failed after eight years. I also had a leak with a hot gas valve attached to the line set. So I had to change both of those parts as well as the drier filter. True recommended I change the line set as well, and I found the part for $150 on eBay, which is a steal. So I bought it. The line set is attached to the evaporator, so I changed that as well. My question is, how do you attach the evaporator without harming the copper tubing? its heavy and unsupported, and brazing it was a nightmare. I had to attach it to my ceiling, but do they sell jigs to position it as you are attaching it?

Brazing rods were over $100.Nobody in the business would even CONSIDER doing something so foolish, and I would agree if I was doing it for someone else professionally. But I figured nothing ventured nothing gained. I know my way around tools so I let it rip.

It fell apart over time so I figured maybe I should try freshly treated 2x2s. I did pre-drill all of the screw holes because they're very close to the edge and I didn't want them to split. I was hoping to use a little bit of tight bond three waterproof glue as well. But it didn't work on the pressure treated wood because it was too wet.I use three stainless steel hinges per side. My first thought was that something was touching against the inducer motor so I opened the side panel and it was not the case. Situation progressed from a brief noise to a no fire situation over two weeks or so. This video is me troubleshooting and finding the issue to be the propane valve, ordering a new valve and replacing it. For years I was unable to turn my pool heater off. Regardless of the setting it would start up and use up all of our propane if the setpoint was below the pool temperature. Even with the heater in the "off" mode. We resorted to shutting the propane flow in order to keep that from happening. It was only after my intermatic timer died two years ago and I replaced it with a timer that didnt have a firemans switch did i realize that was the issue. Initially I thought it was the switch itself, but i tested it and it was merely on or off so I realized something was wrong. Rather than have it work irregularly again, this time I disconnected the wires from the remote and spliced them into the flow sensor (simulating lack of flow) which shut the heater down.This was works best for me- and I could not find another video on this topic, so if you need to install a firemans switch- this is how I did mine.RS

Dental Unit Central Suction Clog Cleared with Compressed AIR and WATER- HOW TO DIY DIY DDS 2026-03-06 | I was able to free a clog in my central suction a few years ago with water- but this time that was unsuccessful. I found the clog and used water the same way as I had prior and it did not BUDGE the clog this time. So I brought out the heavy hitters- a compressor with 120psi attached to the adapter I use to blow out the auto-fill on my pool going into winter. If that didnt work I had a 1/4" drain snake ready to rock. Ludkily the air plus a follow up of water did the trick.My main issue is I did not participate in the building of this office- and the floors of my suite are concrete. The suction goes from the unit to the foot of each chair where they hammer drilled a hole in the floor- which leads to the ceiling of the suite below us- It traverses that ceiling and re-enters our suite in the mechanical area where it enters the amalgam separator than the wet suction to drain. I have no idea if my six chairs are plumbed in series or parallel so I had no idea why only one chair was blocked and the rest were fine. I thought it was only a matter of time until the clog killed the suction in every chair.feel free to ask any questions if you need help- this worked out well for me both times. Upon removing the old one, I realized that the “feet” were too large for the prefabricated shower pan in our bathroom stall shower and it wouldn’t fit against the wall. I took some cedar I had in the basement and made a base. No instructions in the video, but I think the concept is clear if you want to recreate something like this. Otherwise so far so good. Honda HS928 Hydrostatic Snowblower Shear Pin FIASCO - HOW TO REMOVE AUGER & PIN DIY DDS 2025-12-17 | A shear pin broke off on both ends, flush with the top of the auger. I grabbed a new sheer pin and figured I would pop it out, put in a new pin and be on my way. Not so fast.... I walloped it with a hammer and could not get the pin to budge. I grabbed a drill with a new metal cutting drill bit and barely made any progress against what I thought was an aluminum shear pin.Recalling an excellent video of Donyboy73 that I had seen some time ago, I wanted to try to hit the pin from the opposite side, but could not move the shaft since this was a hydro transmission and was not directly connected to the motors rotation. Wound up removing the auger to get to the pin.Came out easily in the other direction. Here is what I did not think to do- so you should.......to get to the shear pin from the other side of the shaft, mark which side you have access to, since they will both look the same. Next, reattach the wire leading to the spark plug and bring the machine outside. Start the snowblower and engage the auger briefly and shut the machine down. Pull the wire to the spark plug and check the orientation of the pin. continue to do this until you have access to the other side of the broken shear pin. Note, this video will present an easy way to remove the auger should you need to replace the bearings or many other types of repairs to this machine.Enjoy.
REPAIRED MY CEDAR GABLE VENT DIY DDS 2025-12-14 | My house has three of these gable vents that are stained to match the house. This is a video of the second repair. The first went more smoothly, where I was able to leave the frame in. place and simply slide and fasten the slats into the frame. In this case I had to remove and rebuild the entire thing.Purchased 4" cedar fence posts from Home Depot, cut, planed, and beveled the edges to match the existing slats, and then. used leftover stain to stain them. I know its not a perfect match because of weathering, but its good enough for me. Come along for the ride. Fairly easy job.

NOISY AC COMPRESSOR due to CAPACITOR DIY DDS 2025-10-10 | For the majority of this summer's cooling season one of my outdoor condensing units was much louder than it has been in the past. Its been running just fine, and starting without issue. Yes they are very old R22 units, but have been problem free. The season has come to a close and it was below freezing last night. I always wondered whether the capacitor had anything to do with the noise and now I know. I swapped the 40/5 Cap with an identical one I had purchased as an extra a couple of years ago. I tossed the one I removed into the garbage, and then retrieved it with the intention of testing it. I was extremely surprised to find that the 40uf capacitor for the compressor was reading 30.4uf, which is a full 25% lower than it should have been. I would have thought the compressor wouldnt start with a cap so out of spec. I wish I thought to change it sooner- hope i didnt damage the compressor by waiting until the end of the summer. Never dreamed that the cap was the cause of the noise, but it was.

We always take care to use no harsh abrasive scrubbers on the pan, and it WAS in perfect condition. Unfortunately things happen, and someone accidentally scrubbed the pan with an industrial abrasive that I was using to clean the outdoor grill. I searched for videos on how to smooth the stainless and or polish the surface, but they were few and far between. I figured it couldnt be that difficult and I was correct. Welding a steel frame to my Exmark Mower to support a lawn sprayer DIY DDS 2025-06-04 | We don't have a large amount of property, just over two acres- but just enough to bother my back when I put on the battery powered backpack sprayer. It holds 4 gallons of liquid, and at about ten pounds per gallon plus the sprayer itself, it starts at close to 50 pounds. I need to fill up and mix about 5 times to treat the property around my house. Pesticide and herbicides mainly. I decided a while ago that I would love a self propelled sprayer and possibly a spreader. I have hunted for used equipment on the lawn care websites- and those things are very costly. They range from 14k new to 5k used if you can find one.This was my solution.....for just over $200 Masters Manufacturing makes a fifteen gallon sprayer with a small boom. Yes its made for an ATV but I dont have one (yet....). I also dont have a tractor or any sit on equipment although I have my eye on one of those Chinese excavators but that is another story.Fifteen years ago when we moved into this house, I bought an Exmark commercial mower with a sulky (stand on) two wheel attachment. It has been perfect for the last 15 years. My plan was to weld attachments onto the mower, and make a mounting bracket that I could remove-onto which I could attach the Masters sprayer and boom. Milwaukee 3/8 Fuel M12 Ratchet Trigger Switch Repaired for FREE with a nail and some epoxy DIY DDS 2025-03-29 | So the black trigger piece fell cracked in half and fell out of my M12 fuel ratchet making it useless. A new switch was at least $50 and the OEM part was $90 and included a new circuit board. I fixed it for nothing using a piece of a nail as a brace and some epoxy I already had in my house.Sweet.Sorry about the quality of the second half of this video. I made it in my garage with no supplemental lighting and then tried to boost the exposure in post, which obviously didnt work.

Ive had luck with my washer repair after someone in the business was nice enough to diagnose my issue so why not try again?I need to replace my hot and cold washer shutoffs that are original to my 1989 built home. They are soldered to copper pipe and all the new shutoffs seem to be pex. I dont want to run pex from the copper, so I will need to solder boiler drains unless I can find a shutoff kit that has slip fittings.Do I need to cut a huge hole in my sheetrock to expose the copper a few feet from the plastic of the shutoff? That will certainly work but before I do that I wanted an experts opinion. What do people do in this situation? There is really no other way to install new faucets that are soldered without melting the new plastic other than using propress which I dont have.Any help would be greatly appreciated

Of course they realize its not worth my time and $75 to argue with them and I would bet that they downgrade 100 percent of the lenses they receive. How well the resin works depends on how new it is, and mine has put out less than fifty gallons of di water so far which is why it easily took all of the suspended mineral out of my well water.I really wanted to put one together myself; I was really considering buying a small tank, and the fittings, because its very similar to my water softener which I put together. At the end of the day it didnt make sense financially to not buy a pre made unit. This was the right size and shape for my application which is why i bought it.

Westinghouse Generator needed a REGULATOR WITH PRIMER to start easily on Propane DIY DDS 2024-11-04 | Unfortunately I thought to make this video after I already fixed the issue. If you read this, you can probably skip the video. It took me a while but figured out why my old setup on propane would start right up, yet my brand new "dual fuel" would take five or six attempts to start. Nobody else seemed to have this issue.SO..... when you have a propane line or NG line to your. home and its over ten feet long, there is a lot of air that needs to be purged from the line before the gas flows into the engine. To this end, my old regulator had a purge on the back and the new generator regulator did not.I simply added the old regulator and re-routed the lines, and the generator started right up!
