A surviving animation from the chainsaw that seems to occurs when the framerate is far from what the game initially intended, I deciced to take a look to understand how it works in the PS2 version and if it was repeatable. Unfortunaly not without hacks, here's how it works:
The game initializes a first timer to 0 (which is the progression of Leon's current frame animation), which increases by 1.0 per frame, if it reaches 119 or more it starts the surviving animation
At the same time it sets a second timer at 41, which decreases by 1 each frame, if it reaches 0 it starts the death animation. As the framerate on PS2 is fixed, everything works correctly and this was made possible by removing the second timer
Also, if you aim at the end of the animation, Leon has a shift to the left

To use them, they must be attached to an emulator, DuckStation for PS1, PCSX2 for PS2, the tool automatically searches for these emulators. It is recommended to use an up-to-date DuckStation and any version of PCSX2
There are a few requirements that are explained when you first open the tool in a "Welcome" message

The video is aimed at people who have already played the game and understand the changes, but here's more explanation if anyone has never played the game but is considering using it:
60 FPS (DuckStation only): The game originally runs at 20 fps for ntsc-u and 16 for pal, which makes the game not very smooth, especially since when there are multiple effects on the screen, the framerate can go down to 7-8 fps. At some point on original hardware the game is almost unplayable. I highly recommend to play on DuckStation emulator for the CPU overclock coupling this feature.
60 To 50 Legend Difficulty Level Requirement: The Legend difficulty is accessible from level 60, which makes no sense considering the gap between the previous difficulty, 20-15-10... and then 15? Even more when you know how difficult it is to level up from level 45, going level 50 from level 45 is already a good challenge that requires hours.
Expand Hero And Legend Shops: For some reason, the Hero and Legend shops use the Novice shop, which makes them almost useless because the bonuses do not match to the difficulty and regular loots. Using this feature will expand them using the Master growth but with your difficulty (Hero or Legend) bonuses.
Permanent Shops Items: Some items in the shop (spell books, jewels or elixirs) can only be purchased once from the shop and require closing and then reopening the shop to bring them back, which is tedious, using this feature will make all items permanent.

A demo of the first feature implemented on my new WIP Darkstone project dedicated to game improvement
Initially the game runs at 20 fps, thanks to Duckstation you can overclock the cpu to run the game at 60 fps
But there are 2 problems:
- The game runs at 30 and 60 fps in menus by default, they will run at a much too high speed
- Some stuff are fps based like the cameras speed, in 60 fps they runs at x3 speed
The trick was to intentionally slow down the game and menus so they all run at a stable 60 fps with overclock, and to adapt all fps based stuff
This project will also add bugs fix and QoL content to make the best experience possible!
It includes new features such as the ability to generate new appearances of minions.
The video doesn’t include all the new features of the update, there are more!
The UI has also been revamped and is more intuitive

This debug menu is peculiar, it is incomplete and can't be enabled/used because some parts are missing. But an important part is still in the game and the patch will add the missing part for its good use.
Even with the patch, some features doesn't work and some will crash the game.
It is for the PAL PS2 version of the game (SLES-52631) and can be enabled using L3+Select.

This randomizer is a tool that allows you to randomize many part of the game,
and also allows features not related to the randomization as Difficulty mode or Game fixes
It is cross-versions and can be played on all platforms including real hardware
During the playthrough, I played in extreme mode which increases boss stats by Attack +50%, Defense +50%, Magic Attack +50%, Magic Defense +50%, Speed +33.33%, Critical +33.33%
I also didn't randomized the content in Shops and Loot categories to increase the difficulty

Thanks to BmaN and MGMoaks, they helped me to find these maps
Precision about the duration/timers, in fact is not exactly that (excepted for the anti grab) but I preferred to express it like that to make it more understandable
Thanks to FroggestSpirit, I used his works about Sly 1 ripping ost on this video
