Song : John Petrucci - Damage ControlCollection of JakthehoboJaktheHobo2012-10-31 | 188 animations all done in Fireworks. From 2009 to 2012
Thank you to everyone who's been there along the way really. This collection is really most of what I had done as a maple animator, yup there's no coming back after this. I've met a lot of really.. amazing people from all over the world by doing this maple animation stuff and I'm glad I'll still be able to keep in touch and perhaps meet more of them in the later years. All the forums I've gone through and perhaps even all the people I've helped via animation tips, resources or just being there I guess... I know in my recent months I've probably felt quite snarky towards doing this but really looking back at it all I might not be in the same position without it.
And yes, I do understand this is a REALLY LONG VIDEO or collection rather. I don't want to label this my "Showreel" because I'm not aiming for that sort of industry now. I just want to keep this as maybe a guideline for new animators or aspiring animators who still want to do maplestory media. It took me three years to finally get a good grasp of what my program was capable of and also that's the amount of time it took for me to find what I wanted to do in life. If animation is the way to go, honestly, just keep at it. People will be harsh and you may see people overtake where you are. But as long as you know who you are at the time... things will probably work out just fine.
Looking back at all this... damn I made some embarrassing animations LOL... oh well, I'll pop a few links of interest below and maybe you can learn something and take it further than me ;)
Special Credit also to Angela (http://AsianPanties.deviantart.com/) for the drawing used between 14:15 and 14:30.
Cheers guys!

Text should always be visible in the animation. If it isn't then it's a trouble for the viewer who would have to stop and replay the animation at the specific moment. When doing text there should be a few things to look out for:
Small words / phrases - 10 frames more or less Short sentences - 20 frames Long sentences 30 frames and above
Read the phrase out as you animate and you'll soon get used to the timing the fireworks gives you. Always remember to F12! At the end of any text, you should export the GIF and send it to a friend, not everyone is a fast reader so take your time and eventually you'll get used to it.

I'll probably upload a couple of animations soon onto youtube so you have something to watch that isn't me rambling on for 30 minutes or so c:How to Animate - Intermediate - Zoom Blur and UploadingJaktheHobo2011-09-18 | Basic requirements:

A spritesheet
A map
Scene movement is much like sliding in an animation, there should be easing and a possible link to whatever action you want the viewer to see next. Simple movements can be:
1-3-5-10-20-10-5-3-1-1 1-4-16-32-24-12-6-4-2-1
Movements that want to show the length or perhaps a new area of the map would be possibly:
1-4-12-34-60-60-30-10-3-2-1
But it all depends on personal taste and really what you want to convey. Don't worry about the sequence of numbers, aslong as the amount of pixels is going down, then the map movement will be smooth to some extent.
Showing Impact: When a character gets hit the person sending the attack will act differently from the receiver.
Attacker: 4-2-1 Receiver: 12-8-4-1-1
If you count each number as the amount of pixels the character is sliding then it's understandable that the attacker will only slide a bit then stop whereas the person receiving the impact will go much further. If you think about the receiver slowing down by dividing the amount of pixels by 2 each time, then suddenly stopping it's much better to understand the strength of the hit received. Every attack will be different and depending on how close the receiver was, the sliding will be different. Keep in mind the positions of both characters when animating.
Making a pre-set for effects: First click any sprite you're wishing to change and click the "+" button at the properties toolbar below, then go to the desired filter and set what you want. After press the "+" button again on the sprite with the filters set and click "options" then "save as style". Simply name it to what you want and you're done.
Press shift and use the arrow keys to move any direction and instead of moving one pixel at a time, you'll be able to move the sprite 10 pixels. This saves time greatly and is useful for later animation ideas.
Ctrl G = Group Ctrl U = Ungroup Ctrl Z = Undo Ctrl Shift Z = Redo Ctrl C = Copy Ctrl V = Paste Ctrl Up = Move forward Ctrl Down = Move backward Ctrl Shift Up = Move to front Ctrl Shift Down = Move to back --------------------------------------------------
