We turned it into the railway police who was very very kind and appreciative. We asked later and thankfully they were able to find the person via her information. We had a few interactions with the police in Taiwan, everyone was very kind.

Jiufen is a small town in the mountains north of Taipei, if you've never been to Taiwan its a must stop, although for me personally, I preferred the likes of Shifen and Wulai for that small town vibe. (I'd only return to Jiufen again If I travel with someone who has never been to Taiwan, as I do think it's part of the essential Taiwan experience, but there is a lot more to the small towns of Taiwan than only Jiufen)
