RUNNING AN X AND H PIPE AT THE SAME TIME (How does it sound???) anotherred5.0 2024-02-24 | PLEASE USE HEADPHONES AND NOT A PHONE SPEAKER!The double x pipe was great but it seemed to amplify the metallic raspy "clap" I was experiencing as well as some other higher frequencies. These high frequencies seemed to pass straight through my resonator. Im not sure if it is designed to dampen those frequencies or not. Before adding another resonator or getting a muffler, I want to get rid of some of these frequencies so that the resonator can do its job better.I also wanted to move the mid pipe as close to the engine as possible and ARH makes a x pipe that crosses over right after the trans mount. The stainless works header connection pipes traveled even further back than the stock band clamp location before crossing over. This made me wonder of this was adding to the exhaust "clap" I was experiencing. So I picked up a used ARH X pipe off FB marketplace and used my H pipe I had laying around to attach this to my axle back. The results were pretty good. Clap is almost gone but still slightly there but the rest could be fixed by another small resonator. I honestly might just replace the Corsa with something bigger instead of adding another resonator. Maybe a bigger Borla resonator.(I know this cars firing order make it just naturally clap a bit)Yes it is still "race car loud," and the drone makes my passengers nauseous (I don't mind drone though). Some people hear the loudness and automatically have a negative opinion, that's OK it's not for everyone. If you want a mild this setup is definitely not for you. Even if your area isn't strict with loud cars, you might get pulled over still. TRIPLE MIDPIPE Mustang 5.0 Sounds INSANE (Best Sounding Catless 5.0 Setup???) anotherred5.0 2025-08-17 | New Setup-Stainless Works Catless Long tube Headers -ARH X pipe-Corsa Double H pipe-Vibrant 12in bottleFirst things first - No, I don't care about the 1 horsepower I might loose with this mid pipe. I have never noticed much of a change in HP or torque between mid pipes anyway, its mostly placebo. It might be a little bit overkill, but I recently added another H pipe to my X + H setup. A big reason I did this is because the butt joint band clamps that connected the X to the H started to leak, and it sounded terrible. The easiest way to fix this was to eliminate this style of clamp. Corsas double H pipe would eliminate this clamp and fit with minimum modification to the rest of the system. Haters are gonna hate though, mostly the old folks I've noticed. Yes it made a difference in sound. The changes I noticed were-More quiet below 3k rpm-Almost no more high pitch coyote notes (most of you would call this coyote rasp) -The tone is more flat across the rev range. Before it would be louder and raspy at certain rpms, almost like a resonance. -Has a little bit more American muscle to its sound now.-Slightest bit of choppiness was added back into the exhaust, but its not bad.-3 to 4k rpm has a little bit less clap now but its still there under high amounts of throttle.People are saying it sounds like their H pipe setups, but when I had H pipe only, it didn't sound much like this. It was more uneven, clappy, and raw. Yes there was a deeper tone, but the clap overpowered the tone with the H. This setup has the same depth, but sounds alot more equal, with a hint of coyote rasp still in there somwhere. There are also hints of 4.6 4v and 5.4 4v, but it is still clearly the sound of a 5.0. I like it...I didn't like the Corsa resonators with this setup because there were ugly high frequencies passing through the resonators.The vibrant fixed like 90 percent of this. I ran this mid pipe with no resonators for a while and it was incredibly loud. It got old after a while. Sounded decent but was just too much.Its one of the deeper coyotes I've heard as it doesn't have Corsa or Roush removing most of the depth. (Sorry Corsa and Roush). Borla also, but at least it's a little bit better. I think these "no drone" mufflers are half the problem with this already higher pitch engine. You could really feel this setup in your chest even 50ft behind the car. The car itself is somewhat loud but the pops and bangs are insane. It's pretty loud again now. Didn't loose as much tone as I thought, so I think it has to do with the X+H combo. It's is somewhat unrefined at around 3-3.5k rpm, so I don't know if I'm going to keep it, although its more refined around that rpm range than the full straight piped double X and H pipe.. Its one of the deeper coyotes I've heard as it doesn't have Corsa or Roush removing most of the depth. (Sorry Corsa and Roush). Borla also, but at least it's a little bit better. Drone was reduced slightly of course.I used to have an H Pipe only, and that was only good with catted lt Headers. With stock cats it didn't have much tone and with no cats it sounded like a squatted truck. Only run an H Pipe with catted headers or resonators. (Yes that means your AWE catback is good.) Every time I've switched back to just an H, I like it at first but am left disappointed. It's just missing something that I can't explain. It's the drama and the wail of a coyote at 7500rpm.And no, not every 5.0 that's loud is "straight piped". Its usually one of those big 3 companies listed above. If you do run a setup like this, please don't cut corners and do 2.5in all the way back with cat deletes instead of lt headers. Its not the same.My goal was to get as close of a sound to the 4.6 4v as possible. Mods-Airaid cold air intake-Exedy clutch -Exedy lightweight flywheel-Tuned by AMR-Full straight pipe.Things I've figured out about the coyote sound so far...-"Drone free" mufflers seem to amplify the rasp and take away the depth of the exhaust note giving it more of that euro v8/v6 sound. They seem to be one of the main problems with these cars that nobody is catching on to. Some catbacks are different, look at AWE Track, pypes X bomb, Flowmaster outlaw, and just hear that v8 chest pounding depth that they have.-X Pipe as close to the engine as possible. (Due to the trans mount, the cross over is too far towards the rear of the car. And most aftermarket catbacks don't crossover until a foot after the trans mount sometimes)-Larger diameter exhaust (3in) helps a little bit with the rasp/depth-H pipes sound messy. If you use one, keep some sort of resonator or cats. They also make it sound like the car isn't revving as high. I know the internet loves them, but few people did in person. The active exhaust with H pipe and catted headers seems to he a good combo.-X pipes have that blended higher pitch tone, which people might hate, but also add some refinement to some extent. -X + H combo helps add some more refinement.-Resonators on the midpipe are best, but drone in any location.-High flow cats help the sound alot.-Long rolled tips help add some of that v8 depth back.-In my case, adding a resonator made the exhaust note slightly higher pitch in a v6 way, but reduced clap and added refinement and more of a bass note.Yes, like loud. The short gearing of the H-variant M56 means that drone isn’t an issue above 75 mph in 5th.This is pretty loud compared to most non-custom turbo Volvo exhaust setups that I’ve seen – most people typically elect for something quieter, but that’s not how we roll on this channel. It’s not obnoxious, since the turbo quiets most of the noise.The Japanifold is the biggest differentiator in terms of sound here – it is port matched to the exhaust pulses and has been proven both on a car and on the flow bench to do 10-13% more flow than the “R” manifold that people tend to use, which has a sound with less character and more drone. It actually sounds so much better than the H pipe. With the H pipe, it was hard to tell in the videos, but it sounded horrible at anything below 4k rpm. Even up top, it was a little bit unrefined, but it sounds crazy on video, so the internet may not understand this decision. Can be a bit tractor like in the low rpms. It's just the typical catless stuff. MUSTANG 4.0 V6 High Flow Cats With X Pipe and Muffler Delete (Crazy Loud!!) anotherred5.0 2024-04-11 | USE HEADPHONESThis was when I still had high flow cats on this thing. Gave it some extra tone and helped with the the tractory low rpm noise. Almost seemed to add some mid rpm rasp for some reason over the cat less. This might be the acoustics of a hollow/gutted cat vs a HFC. Couldn't run any pops though sadly. The camera used was a Galaxy S8 which doesn't do this car justice at all. Mustang 5.0 Full Corsa Pro Series Exhaust (Not Corsa Extreme or Sport) anotherred5.0 2024-02-04 | PLEASE USE HEADPHONES AND NOT A PHONE SPEAKER, theres lots of low frequencies. Also, a Corsa Pro Series full exhaust is not a thing. It is a custom setup using all corsa parts.My double X pipe with muffler delete was nearly perfect before, but it was a little bit rough around the edges. The tone was great up top, but below 3k, it either sounded like a tractor or a clapped truck, depending on the rpm. These Corsa resonators really cleaned up the sound but left 90 percent of the loudness. It still has some frequencies I don't really like to much, but for catless, it's one of the best I've heard. I didn't want to go with the Catless Corsa Extremes because when they are on these cars, they eliminate all the depth of the exhaust note to reduce drone. This seems to end up increasing the rasp somehow reducing all the v8 depth, making the car sound like a 3.7 Mustang with an x pipe, IMO. I just wanted depth up top, but for it to be slightly raspy still in a equal way, like some other european V8s on the market.It is still "race car loud," so it might not be suitable as a daily driver. Even up top it was a little bit unrefined, but it sounds crazy on video so the internet may not understand this decision. I might get some "I liked it better befores" but trust me, nobody that heard it in person said that so far. If you want to run a H pipe, either have cats or mufflers. Can be a bit tractor like in the low rpms. Just the typical catless stuff. I heard a lot of talk on the internet about how loud a double X pipe was, but It wasn't. So I decided to try another H. I did H pipe research and found this H pipe, which almost appeared to have a smoother tone like my X, but deeper with the H loudness. It's not going to have that thumping bass that rattles windows.It is somehow very loud, but also isnt at the same time. Not as loud as my black car which makes sense as this one doesn't have true duals. Seems louder than the normal Corsa Extreme catback with the double X. Starting to think that the problem isn't X pipes with these cars like everyone thinks, but the corsa extremes that everyone buys. It just takes all the deeper tones I liked when stepping up from a v6 to v8. It also brings out rasp that wasn't there before. If you like the equal tone than just go with the double X without these mufflers. Now I'm just trying to bump it up a couple decibels, just can't do headers in my state. -update, I am now running with the corsa tracks.Update again- moved to another state and now run headersExcuse my shifting. Don't wanna break somthing...againStill no Drone thanks to the corsas.I chose the H pipe from AWE tuning because they were the only ones that had 3in parallel pipes, while the crossover was what looked like only 2.5in. Mustang GT 3 Inch H Pipe with Corsa Extremes (Full 3in/Stock Headers) anotherred5.0 2022-03-19 | Sounds decent.Setup is:-AWE 3 inch h pipe -Corsa Extreme 3 in axle back-Stock cats and headersIt's very loud but not as loud as I was expecting. 2.5 inch H might have been louder but I think the 3 inch sounds better. That was a year ago so it is hard to compare. I'm thinking that the Corsas cancel out some of the extra deep sound that comes with the H as they seem to effect the bass note of the exhaust. Mustang 4.0 V6 X PIPE and Muffler Delete (Revs, Flybys) anotherred5.0 2022-02-13 | This was my first car and sold it a long time ago but still have the videos.Setup was basically the Pypes M80 Catback with the mufflers removed and stock cats.Sound is not for everyone as it has a higher pitch tone from the x pipe and can be a little bit like a diesel below 2k, but thought it sounded great.Wasn't to loud (for me at least) but had so much tone.Should be fairly loud for the average person.Car was basically stock in this video besides a cold air intake (no tune).You may hear a squeaking noise and its because a couple parts of the clutch assembly were worn out. Had to replace everything about a year after this. IMO, don't run this setup without the headers and tips as they tuned the sound a little bit. I had it with stock tips and no headers and I didn't like the sound.3-4k rpm range is a little raspy but after that it sounds pretty cool. It is also incredibly loud - Could be heard from over a mile away.Around most catless setups in terms of volume.People seemed to like the first so I made a compilation of almost all the remaining videos of this car.Looking back-I don't know why I did the FBO and stock labeling on the bottom because it is confusing to some. Just know that when it says FBO, the car is revving to the sky and making a bit more power. Not enough to make a big difference though. (Use headphones)There is not really much of a bass note with this exhaust at all (high frequencies only), which give it a 'exotic' muscle sound.After a while I didnt even notice anymore until I sat passenger in other modified cars.You get a little bit of a deep sound at idle, though.I really do think that this catback with headers ruined people's opinion of the sound of the coyote. (Which is one of the best sounding v8s imo) With cats, it's not too bad, but it's not great. Still has that 5.0 stock cats choppiness up but it is definitely better than the H pipe. Muffler delete is 2.5 inch and double x is 3 inch so it downsizes.70 degrees.Was somewhat loud. Sounded great. Sounded exactly like the corsa extreme catback just with a bass note added onto it. Maybe slightly louder than the Extremes too.Don't mind the uneven tips. I threw this setup together quick in my garage to see how it would sound.

Video doesn't pick up anything honestly) Thought it sounded crazy enough to replicate it in full 3 inch, which is my current setup, which I love. The 3inch basically turns things up to 11. It also droned like crazy.Cold Start was insaneI would recommend using normal length exhaust tips instead of the 12 inch by 4 inch ones used for this setup.........It is hard to tell from the video, but yes it is very loud, almost as loud as my black car and much louder on start up.
