I'm trying something new now that I have this new bad boy and it's software at my disposal. I want to go through a number of my renditions, slow them down, stick only with piano (no pads or strings mixed), and do some slight improv on them using the same chords that I had in my original renditions. This melodic adventure is what I have been cooking up for my 1000 Sub Special! This is kinda in reaction to EFR's upload of my entire set =P It's worth reading the info section, please do. =)(Inner Applejack Speaking) One of the main reasons I abridged my original upload was because I got to play most of my songs more than once, so I figured I would upload the renditions that I thought turned out the best, and omit the songs that went a bit less than stellar..... /watch?v=jdcgi_P3AHISince EFR's recording is like looking at oneself in a mirror under florescent lights (piano playing-wise), I figure I'll give you guys the complete picture so that you can see the warm gemütlichkeit of the convention hall as I was playing my set.As I stated in my abridged version, my set got extended from 30 to 50 minutes literally as I was still warming up. I had asked the tech director why there were about 100 people in the hall already while I was still warming up and he just said " just (turn up the volume and) start playing!"After I shook off the initial impression of ლ0_O'ლ (since I had been practicing for over a month to fill 30 minutes and only 30 minutes) I just decided that I would try to get through my whole set twice, and toss in an extra song here and there as time permitted.I made a crap-ton of mistakes, I am aware of this.Therefore, *ahem* (kind-hearted rant time so you guys can see things from my perspective =P)I challenge anyone who reads this to go to their first convention ever, get up in front of ~1000 people who likely know exactly which notes you are supposed to be hitting for every song you are playing, and hit every note dead on (from memory) for 15 different songs, with half-cold hands, after not having performed in front of more than 3 or 4 people in more than 7 yearsº, with people constantly walking in front of you and around you, with at least 2 cameras recording the entire thing (I know there were many many more because I saw them whenever I looked up), with people taking flash photography, and with your playing (from your point of view in a slight acoustic dead zone) being almost completely drowned out by the massive amount of singing* (during the second half of the set). Oh, and it's the first time anyone from the community has seen your face... there's that too. =Pº I've only performed once before, and it was only a single short song that led into a choir concert in high school.* During the second run-through of "Smile!", I literally couldn't hear myself playing starting at, "...Come on everypony, smile smile smile, fill my heart up with sunshine, sunshine..."Anyway though, I hope you guys like it!Thank you everyone who was there for being so supportive and kind even when I made big mistakes =)All of the original compositions of these songs belong to Daniel Ingram, and it's probably worth mentioning the fine folks at The Hub, Hasbro, and DHX as well.
EQLA - DrSentenials Pre-Opening Ceremony Piano Set (Abridged Version) DrSentenial 2012-11-06 | Oh my gosh I had a blast at EQLA! =DSince my set got unexpectedly lengthened from 30 minutes to 50 minutes at literally the last minute, I chose to cut and compile this video from both sets since I got a chance to play everything twice! The first set only saw me playing for about 80-100 people, but my second set was to a full house (I'm guessing 500-1000)! So if you don't hear many people singing, that was my first set. If there are lots of people singing, that's my second set =PEither way it was an honor and a blast to play for such amazing people! Love is in Bloom [Extended Version] - MLP:FiM Piano Cover DrSentenial 2012-07-04 | The beginning starts out soft, but it gets louder. --- fair warning ---It doesn't get too loud though, so I wouldn't worry too much :PAt present this is the best play through I have been able to record of this song after 2 days of learning this song. Only 1 edit, but things go a little rough in the left hand in the first chorus and there are 1 or 2 missed chords in the left hand.Once I am able to play and record a slightly more polished version, I will do just that.It's also a teensy bit fast... but like I said though, more polishing will happen lolYeah though, SO MANY OCTAVES!!! lolI mean, just try doing octaves as fast as I did at 01:00 , that aint easy! lolLike my cover of "Smile!", this rendition is very closely related to DJDelta0's version of this song as posted here on youtube.
