It works exactly the same way as Flying, but it's faster to gain height and also can be done with almost every object In-game. Another method to use, is to jump over the object and shoot it with the gravity gun, giving it vertical velocity, then grabbing and Bunnyhopping on the object up the wall. The trick is very useful in the current version of Half-Life 2 and other OrangeBox Engine games like Portal, since Flying is really limited.- The standard method of wallclimbing is to hold the object with the cylindrical, curved part of the surface facing the wall (this usually means holding the object sideways) at chest level, then to move toward the wall, and just as the object touches, to quickly jump forward and lower the object. It's recommended not to hold S or W (or your respective keys for moving forwards and back) while ABHing. Binding +jump to mouse wheel is recommended as it makes timing jumps a lot easier.- When you exceed the game's speed limit, the game tries to slows you down whenever you jump, back to the desired speed. By default the game thinks that you're moving forwards, so when you exceed the speed limit, it'll accelerate you backward. If you are facing backward, this will only increase your speed. So, the faster you're going - the more you will get accelerated. • Wallclimbing- Wallclimbing is a glitch used to get up on high buildings/places. It works exactly the same way as Flying, but it's faster to gain height and also can be done with almost every object In-game. Another method to use, is to jump over the object and shoot it with the gravity gun, giving it vertical velocity, then grabbing and Bunnyhopping on the object up the wall. The trick is very useful in the current version of Half-Life 2 and other OrangeBox Engine games like Portal, since Flying is really limited.- The standard method of wallclimbing is to hold the object with the cylindrical, curved part of the surface facing the wall (this usually means holding the object sideways) at chest level, then to move toward the wall, and just as the object touches, to quickly jump forward and lower the object. It's the main movement method for GoldSrc Engine, Old Source Engine and Portal 2 speedrunning.- In Half-Life 2, the Bunnyhopping is a whole lot different from the GoldSrc style. Airstrafing doesn't give you speed anymore, so the only way to gain speed is by continuously jumping.- When you jump and hold W (forward), the engine adds a few additional ups (units per second) to your current speed. If you'll jump again as soon as you land, the engine won't get to reply the friction and slow you down from the previous jump, so the new jump will add up more speed again. This way, you can gain more and more speed each time you jump.• Schrodinger's Crouch (Quantum Crouch)- When the player crouches, then uncrouches, and crouches again before the animation of standing up completes, the game glitches their stance into two states. The camera becomes seperated from the player's actual body, allowing the player to peek their view through ceilings.- Simply crouch, then uncrouch, and while the standup animation occurs, crouch again. Your camera will freeze in place, and how late you crouch in the animation determines the height at which the camera will freeze.- This trick is useful for activating buttons through ceilings. This second hitbox is called "physics shadow".Depending on type of the entity one of the hitboxes is dominant. Each frame results of havok physics simulation for barrels, rollermines, vehicles and etc will be copied over quake hitboxes of entities. For NPCs, rockets and elevators state is copied in reverse direction - quake to havok.Player is special. Normally quake hitbox will overwrite havok shadow, but only if its movement is not blocked by any havok hitboxes. Player's hitbox will be copied in reverse - from havok to quake - if (a) havok hitbox is valid (not stuck in quake world), (b) player is touching a vphys object.Quickclip works, because in vehicles havok hitbox has collisions masked out for everything except pickups (health, ammo). When you exit a vehicle, collision mask for havok physics should be changed to normal, but only if vehicle is present in the world. Barnacle forces you to exit a vehicle, but this process is interrupted as vehicle handle value, stored in Player class, is not valid. This allows you to "throw" havok hitbox through walls by colliding with a vphys object and teleport to a new location after it passes throug the wall into an empty space behind it.You can see how it works by enabling "physicsshadow_render 1". Blue boxes are physics shadow and red boxes are quake boundary box. When you perform quickclip, you can notice how red box stays in place, but blue one keeps traveling through the wall.
