In 2009, independent video game designer Markus "Notch" Persson released a work in progress that would go on to break every industry rule for achieving success. Part exploratory adventure, part creative building tool, "Minecraft" evolved from a cult classic into an unprecedented hit, raking daily sales in by the thousands. By the end of 2010, Notch was able to quit his day job and live the dream of founding his own development studio, Mojang.
This feature-length documentary follows the young company over the course of its first year as their profile expands across the world stage and into the homes of millions of gamers. Featuring insights from industry icons (Peter Molyneux, Tim Schafer), journalists (Geoff Keighley, Stephen Totilo), tastemakers (Gabe & Tycho of Penny Arcade), and players profoundly impacted by the game (Yogscast, The Shaft, Minecraft Teacher), the film serves as a time capsule for one of this generation's most unorthodox success stories.
Minecraft: The Story of Mojang is the second feature from game culture archivists 2 Player Productions (Reformat the Planet, Penny Arcade: The Series - Season 1, Double Fine Adventure!). Funded through crowdsourcing site Kickstarter.com, the production spanned nearly two years in locations across North America and Europe.

Once a year, Double Fine drops everything and spends two weeks feverishly developing brand-new prototypes. These experiments have resulted in full games like Costume Quest, Stacking, Iron Brigade, and Middle Manager of Justice.
Usually, this is a top-secret process. But in 2012, we blew the whole affair wide open. Our community voted on the ideas they wanted us to make, watched us develop them in real-time, and played them all when we were done.
And now you can get all five Amnesia Fortnight 2012 games, the bonus prototypes, and the daily 2 Player Productions documentary episodes in a ridiculously handsome Special Edition Boxed Set!
We even pestered an artist from each team to design a beautiful unique Collector's Edition slipcase! Each one is signed by the game's project lead.
When you place your order for the Special Edition box, you will also receive a Humble Bundle download code so you don't need to wait for the discs!
Special Edition box includes:
- Autonomous prototype - Black Lake prototype - Hack 'n' Slash prototype - Spacebase DF-9 prototype - The White Birch prototype - 2 Player Productions daily HD documentary episodes on Blu-ray - Soundtrack from all five AF2012 games - Bonus prototypes: Brazen, Costume Quest, Happy Song - Download code for the games, music and documentary so you don't have to wait!

A few weeks prior to launching his record-shattering Kickstarter campaign for a new Point-n-Click Graphic Adventure game, Tim Schafer sat down with his old boss and mentor, Ron Gilbert. Together, they look back on the genre they helped define and discussed what they did right, where they went wrong, and how they'll do things differently moving forward with the new game.

This year, video game industry veteran Tim Schafer (Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, et al) will harness the power of Kickstarter to fund the production of a brand-new Point & Click graphic adventure game in the style of the very titles that made him famous.
By crowd-sourcing the cost of production, Tim and his team at Double Fine studios are able to sidestep the skeptical publishers that wouldn't touch the genre with a ten-foot pole and appeal directly to its fans instead. As of this writing, the game has already raised nearly $2,000,000 from over 57,000 fans.
Since there are no publishers' brands to protect, Schafer will be developing the game in the public eye; inviting 2 Player Productions to document every step of the process, for better or worse. Every backer that contributes at least $15 to this endeavor will receive a free copy of the game and exclusive access to the documentary episodes throughout the year.

During our time filming at Mojang for the Minecraft documentary, we had the chance to cover the development of another game that was taking place alongside of Minecraft. This game, which would eventually come to be named "Scrolls", would be the main focus of Jakob Porser, long time friend of Markus "Notch" Persson and co-founder of the company.
Concieved by Jakob and Markus durning their time working together at King.com, the idea for Scrolls became a reality when Minecraft's success led to the founding of Mojang. While Markus continued to work on Minecraft, Jakob would lead the development of Scrolls. He would soon be joined by Markus 'Junkboy' Toivonen, Daniel Frisk, Mattis Grahm, and Henrik Pettersson. The tactical card game would feature detailed art and 2D animation, a drastic change from the blocky open world of Minecraft.
