Final Fantasy 13 - Blinded by Light (Remix) KoArts 2021-10-31 | Even though it currently remains one of the most divisive entries in the franchise, I feel no shame admitting I genuinely loved the base FF13. Once you slog past the admittedly long tutorial area, the game opens up quite nicely, impacted in part by hearing this theme a lot. Nebula Grey is its own artificial dark star at the center of Murkland, the dark realm where only those Navis whose souls have succumbed to the darkness within now roam...You must put an end to it once and for all, else the souls of every living being will be tainted by the darkness it possesses and bring ruin to the world! While MMBN 5 wasn't my favorite of the series, it does have one of my favorite bosses in the form of Nebula Grey, a massive, hulking brute somehow created from the darkness of man. This beast's wild features, as well as it being a cosmic themed fiend, make it one of the more unique final bosses of the series, however it keeps the giant hands that the franchise is so fond of in their final bosses lol.I loved both the GBA and DS versions of this song, so I tried to marry the two in a sense, combining features I enjoy from both. To celebrate finally finishing this after a lot of years collecting dust in my harddrive, I even whipped up a celebratory picture of the big baddie himself, just to give it something that stands out visually too. Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals - The Final Fight (Remix) KoArts 2020-08-05 | The stage is set for your final confrontation with the 4 Sinistrals; the mad gods of the land who vow to subjugate humanity. Make your way to Doom Island and reach the Fortress of Doom to put an end to these crazed beings!Careful though! Daos is a big sore loser and brings down the island with you on it! This is perhaps one of the few game endings that really get me, because you don't get a happy ever after for the main couple. RIP Maxim and Selan. Even then, this song has always still been playing in my mind as it is one of the best battle themes in the whole franchise. It's a shame it was only used rarely in the game, once for Sheena's encounter and another for Abyssion's. And it seems like they even removed it for Abyssion in the PS3 port, so it's even less used now! Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Wandering Ghosts (Remix) KoArts 2020-05-13 | Possibly my favorite track from Symphony of the Night, and a shame that it is so dulled down in the game that you can barely hear it, not to mention only used briefly in a rather small transitional area. The original always had a sort of smooth funk feel to it, but I decided to incorporate a bit of Latin flair to it with the inclusion of some trumpets and I feel it came out alright! I stumbled upon this track completely by accident while listening to random Youtube playlists and wow, I was completely blown away by this theme, so I wanted to pay homage to it. Bravo to the original composer, Toby Fox!All I know about Undertale and this theme is it involve this little skeleton guy who wears a hoodie and sandals, and uses some spooky skull bois to attack with at certain points during his battle. Knowing nothing about the game, I felt like the original theme was amped up, but also reluctant, as it didn't seem like this guy wanted to really attack you, so it seems like a tragic duel in that sense. I have not forgotten my love of video game music in this time-frame, and still toiled away at trying to love the sounds that have gotten me through.I feel like there should be no more fitting of a theme to emerge back into the scene with than the appropriately titled "Departure" from Megaman Zero 2. I have done this once before, but I overhauled my old remix.Much like the theme itself symbolizes Zero's own Departure from complacency as he's thrust back into the ravages of war, I feel like this theme is my own Departure from the shackles of my real life, and I can be free to unwind a bit and finally show off my work in the hopes that it is enjoyed by as many people it can reach.I cannot openly recall many themes from the Megaman Zero series off the top of my head, as I feel most of them are very forgettable. However, this theme has always struck me for many years, as it seems almost calming in a sense. The irony of course being that the level itself is actually quite hectic.Like what you hear?
