Sarkaz Only in Arknights: Endfield (real)

ShinodaChan 2024-01-21 | Yes, Xaihi was the only playable Sarkaz in the alpha test. I could have picked a stronger enemy to test against, but I think the Gigaspawn was example enough (that random super rare weapon essence drop though).

Xaihi (5* Sarkaz Caster):

Pursuit Attack: After every skill cast (following effect does not apply if you switch Operator): The next basic attack becomes a powered attack that deals 205% ATK of Lattice Damage.

Side-Channel Attack (Active Skill): Deals 320% ATK of Lattice Damage [Break 1] (i.e. plus Stability Break 1) on the target. Hitting the target has a 20% chance to create a Lattice Orb.

Stack Overflow (Ultimate): Condenses a Lattice Sphere that orbits around the caster. Whenever a nearby enemy takes Skill Damage from our Operators, the Sphere also attacks the target and deals 280% ATK of Lattice Damage. The Sphere lasts 15s and leaves a Lattice Orb at its location when it disappears.

Trapdoor Passage (Talent): Pursuit Attacks have a 25% chance to create a Lattice Orb.

If you've ever played League of Legends, Xaihi is basically 'Lich Bane, but it's a Champion'. Cast skill, use enhanced auto, rinse and repeat. She's very simple, but since she can't trigger Elemental Fusion on her own Lattice Orbs she has to rely on others to proc them instead.

Ranged units (e.g. Perlica, Xaihi, Angelina) couldn't hit or break chests in the alpha build of Endfield (0.1.4), resulting in the end clip.

This boss is a menace. He freezes all of your operators, becomes unblockable in Phase 2, and worst of all, he needs to be babysat if you want to get his debuff relic. There's a lot going against Sarkaz Only in IS3 as is (e.g. bad start, useless vouchers, lack of an elemental medic), so trying to work around The Last Knight as well was a total pain.

Strat is to abuse massive Flamebringer HP pool w/ Shining S3 and W S2 to whittle down Phase 1, then spam burst and CC in Phase 2. Only works if you have a ton of relics and/or the debuff relic, so double down on stun duration, defense, and sniper power.

Stage can be easily cleared with just Ifrit and Mudrock, but everyone's already doing that so I went for 5*s instead. Biggest hurdle is the start since there are no fast redeploys to deal with the four crossbowmen at the start, otherwise it's just a matter of holding the chokepoint. Fittingly, this clear is not *auto* safe.

Sarkaz Only | Chapter 7 | No 6*

I was expecting this to be the hardest chapter yet, but modules alongside Paprika managed to make this a No 6* playthrough. There are some stages (e.g. 7-4, 7-16) where it's a tight squeeze, but you could always borrow Surtr, Mudrock etc. if you need a leg up.

7-18 would have been boring if I did 2 OP (Surtr & Mudrock), so I opted for the 5* run instead. Biggest hurdle is whittling Patriot Phase 1 down, after that Flamebringer can tank his Phase 2 for as long as necessary. Keep in mind that this was done without a couple modules (i.e. Warfarin, Paprika, Purifier) so it'll become easier in the long run.

Full breakdown in the pinned comment below, but to summarize: hardest CC clear yet due to lack of proper cannon bait. There were lots of small but significant timings that made this clear possible, and I'm proud to say that this is (probably) Sarkaz Only's limit for CC#10. The only way you could go higher would be to take a Manfred risk, ATK down, or left side tile ban, but I'd be surprised if any of those were possible.

JUST USE SURTR | Sarkaz Only TN-1 to TN-4 Spectacular Trial (Trials for Navigator #1)

ShinodaChan 2023-01-29 | Outside of TN-4, the only real challenge is Frostnova RNG. TN-4 is mainly difficult because of Crownslayer and Mandra, but I have more information on that in my Ultimate Trial clear. Either way, I was glad to have stages where I could demonstrate niche skills (i.e. Purgatory S2 & Meteorite S2) feasibly. All stages are cleared with the Fast Processing Limiter (Increases the ASPD and ATK of friendly units by 30 and 10%, respectively, and reduces the DEF of enemies by 200).

Chapter is pretty straightforward outside of 6-11 and 6-14: don't get frozen, and don't let any blockers die. Meteorite and Purgatory clear out any slugs and spiders that might pose a threat, and Flamebringer is as much of a damage sponge as ever. You can probably pull off 6-16 with just a single 6* (i.e. Surtr), but it'd be substantially harder.

Note — 6-6, 6-13, and 6-18 are all story nodes, while 6-7, 6-17, and TR-16 have fixed squads. I included footage from 6-17 anyways, but you'll see why.

My version of Sarkaz Only Risk 21, with flowers buffed instead of eggs.

Ifrit lane is perfect for killing almost everything on this stage, but flowers will rush past her if they aren't bursted or blocked. The double-duration stun from Nervous Impairment is extremely annoying, but if you reset Ifrit's sanity without her medic dying then it's doable. Worth noting that Sarkazknights can manage Risk 22 with Sarhang's strat (i.e. 4 eggs and W RNG), but I didn't want to copy paste his clear with only minor adjustments.

DP CHECK | Sarkaz Only CE-6 & LS-6

ShinodaChan 2022-12-02 | No natural DP gen, drones flying in from two sides, AND there are four lanes to block. If it weren't for the other stage gimmick (i.e. enemies grant 1 DP on kill) LS-6 would be impossible.

Meteorite needs to be placed as soon as possible to shift aggro off Midnight. Purgatory uses S1 early so it recharges in time for the second wave. Midnight can't tank the Hateful Avenger without Shining (even Warf S1M3 isn't enough), but Vigna might be able to if you swap their positions on redeploy.

"This bridge located nearby on State Route 611, is a singular example of prison labor craftsmanship. The inmates constructed the bridge in 1946 using bricks they had made themselves in the prison brickyard. Referred to as a voussoir arch bridge, or "barrel vault" bridge due to its resemblance to the inside of a wooden barrel, the bridge crosses over a spur of the Lorton and Occoquan Railroad. It is constructed in a five course common bond brick pattern and is 23 feet wide. It is the only masonry and brick arch bridge of its kind in Virginia."

Perhaps the oldest existing example of a stone arch bridge was built to cross the River Meles in Smyrna, Turkey in the ninth century, B.C., and they can be found all over the world. "Boxcars of the Lorton and Occoquan Railroad"

"Boxcars were acquired in much the same way as most of the Lorton and Occoquan Railroad engines — government and local railroad surplus. The boxcar you see here probably dates back to the 1920s. This 40-foot long wooden car was likely obtained as a scrap car, with the metal ends added later. Beneath the car is a metal truss system that adds structural support. In the early 20th century boxcars like this were produced by hundreds of companies in the United States. Very few survive in a restored fashion today."

"What do we know about the boxcars at Lorton?"

"With the advent of mass-produced metal boxcars, many railroad companies began scrapping their wooden boxcars. Two wooden boxcars, possibly including the one you see here, were procured from Alexandria's Potomac Yard. In the 1930s, an 80-foot Department of Fisheries express car was purchased as surplus from the government and converted into a passenger car for prisoners. Wooden benches were installed to transport prisoners from their dormitories to their worksites throughout the complex."

"The Lorton and Occoquan Railroad line represented a vital asset to the correctional complex which attempted to be as self-sustaining as possible. In addition to the prisoner transport, boxcars were used for to [sic] bring shipments of supplies such as food and coal into the complex. They also served to take shipments of inmate-produced goods such as bricks out of the complex."

"In early 2006, a Park Authority archaeologist discovered this wooden boxcar while performing a pedestrian survey of the area. The boxcar was almost completely hidden under vines and grasses that had grown up around it. Later that year the FCPA reclaimed the boxcar from the natural overgrowth and set about protecting and restoring it to its present condition."

"Rain, snow, ice, and other forms of precipitation hit the ground and must go somewhere. In a forested area, water can be taken up by plants, stored in the soil or flow slowly over the land to a stream. This means that streams are forced to carry more water at a higher rate which can damage the soil, stream, fish, and plants. ShinodaChan 2022-10-14 | If you're curious, here are a few reasons why Paprika is terrible (at least for Sarkazknights):

1. Her bounces are gutted compared to chain casters (3 instead of 4, 25% penalty instead of 15%, and no utility).
2. Her bounces only occur when an operator is within the 8 tile radius of another, so Paprika's effective range is mediocre. You have to place operators diagonally to make the most of her range, which...yeah.
3. Her ATK stat is subpar (489 vs Warfarin's 580 and Purifier's 571). Nightingale only has 420 ATK, but she doesn't have a ridiculous penalty built into her kit.
4. Since Paprika's talent is built around healing a flat amount of HP, it doesn't scale well with buffs.
5. Because you're locked into Skill 2 (essentially a mini-module) to turn Paprika into an actual operator, you'll never get a chance to use the ASPD offered by Skill 1.

And most importantly: she does absolutely nothing to fix Sarkazknights's issues. No 2 block, no DP gen, no utility, just a highly situational heal. Incredible that HG thought it was a good idea to add two Sarkaz medics in a row, especially when there were already four.

Will I find ways to use Paprika? Probably. Will she change anything? Probably not.
