Sucks that bomb placements would extend Elfilis' lance hitbox at times, meaning my quick counterattacks would just get me hurt instead :(

Fire is probably one of the "safest" abilities in the sense that you can play incredibly non-committal, but the damage is low unless you commit to keeping a solid ignite rolling on multiple limbs for most bosses. On smaller bosses like the Knights, you're just kind of screwed and have to play out a very slow offense. It has good mobility at least with Burning, so keeping up isn't too big of an issue!

Hammer does what it does best - hit hard and capitalize on openings. Base level Hammer still does very respectable damage and Giant Swing is convenient for when I want either damage on the move or something that can rack up damage fast if I can't Hammer Flip.

I went through the DLC entirely without upgrades and figured I would take on UCZEX with that same condition. Sword is my comfort pick and debatably one of the harder abilities to do this with since you need to stay close at all times and take huge advantage of counterattacks. Normally I never had to focus on getting the highest DPS or burst damage in UCZ, but in EX it actually matters since the boss patterns and speed will inevitably result in death by a thousand cuts from the mistakes that would happen with how long these fights could be. That's why I use Upward Slash, Sword Dive, and Spin Slash way more than UCZ.
The only ability I could see this being harder with is Drill, but I am not going to test that theory since I hate that ability vs bosses anyway.
Either way, this was insanely fun! I'm glad I took the call to stick with base level tier 1 abilities for the DLC since upgraded ones can make this very trivial. It made beating this for the first time (this video!) way more satisfying. I encourage you to try it out with your favorite tier 1 ability, only if you are willing to take on the challenge of course!

A Star Allies hard mode mod recently released! The whole game was made to be harder, but I figured I would jump right to SMEX to see how I can handle it. Turns out it was as advertised - very hard! I like the approach of making boss patterns faster rather than just solely inflating/deflating numbers. I also love that Marx was added as a boss fight, no more snoozefest against Goldon and Silvox for the hundredth time lol
I originally tried doing this with a lot of other abilities (Fire, Ice, Ninja, Fighter, Hammer, Beetle, Yo-Yo), but it was hard for them to keep up. Water had the best odds especially with elemental advantages vs Parallel Dedede, Flamberge, Zan, and Void's first phase. The key to a good ability here in general is having a decent projectile, high mobility while maintaining good DPS, and easy to abuse i-frames. Water fit the bill, but I felt that maybe Hammer, Beetle, and Yo-Yo could have worked if I put more effort into them.
A very, very fun mod that easily got my heart racing especially against Morpho Knight where I learned that overconfidence truly is a slow and insidious killer. If you want to experience pain but also satisfaction when you finally win, this is the mod for you.
Lastly, I would like to say that I did this run in honor of my grandfather, who passed away a year ago as of this upload. He, alongside my father, is the one who really got me into the Kirby series shortly after I learned about it and always kept up with the series as much as I did.
Welcome to the end of a challenge series of mine! After messing around on Sunrise's 2013 TTO server, I actually set out to solo the entire TTO taskline (+ the 4 bosses) in an attempt to see if I can beat the game without any real help!

Most would say this is the finale due to the outcome of this part, but I still intend to do one last boss fight. Pretty proud of how I did the Cog round, at least!
(Sorry this also took forever to get out! I had quite the season of discovery, if you catch my drift... Promise that the last couple parts will be done in less than nearly a year! lol)

the foreman fight was actually a lot harder than i expected, i remember him having much worse accuracy in the playtest when i was gathering merit data but maybe i was unlucky this time or they buffed his accuracy. regardless, winning at the last breath was incredibly satisfying.
i also wanted to flex the double organic but with random level sets (excluding silos) being a thing in the factory, my org whole fruits went to waste... oh well! better that i was overprepared than underprepared.
The Bunker Shot nerf addresses a way to fix it at least, I just don't think the damage vulnerability is necessary at all.
Shame this technically isn't rewardless though, the Unite wasn't needed but just a panic moment from my buddy which is understandable.
A lot of people consider this iteration of the Club President to be incredibly difficult. With randoms exclusively, I can see why. It's a fight that will encourage using level 7 gags and having actual team coordination, things that randoms tend to not like doing. In a coordinated team, I find this boss to be pretty comfortable in terms of difficulty. I just feel that the gag bans influence too much with how long they last, causing some really awkward scenarios. I hope that the TTR team doesn't totally nerf this boss into the ground because it's the most fun out of the bunch, but we'll see.
This run was *almost* rewardless though, the double drop missing near the end was the dealbreaker.
Maybe I'll just make a video going over the patch notes and talk about my thoughts on the bosses!
Modded music added by myself, but all come from NieR Automata & NieR Replicant ver 1.22 (Song names will be at the bottom)
Another hardmode arena mod, this time in Forgotten Land! I tried previously with base Sword but it just can't keep up with most of these bosses.
I was going to commit to just base Buzzsaw Cutter so I could play offensively and defensively at the same time, but the final boss had a sudden change that I felt was, while it made sense due to the final phase not having any real animated attacks to remove, frustratingly too different from how I had to fundamentally beat the rest of the bosses. So once I saw that I rolled Ice before the final boss, I went with that. Beat cheese with cheese, really. Didn't change the fact that I had to play near perfectly for that phase though, as one mistake could get me killed outright.

i wanted to do this with ninja, but having my only ranged option be super weak really didn't work out for me. glad i could do it with fighter though
None of these toons have finished the Brrrgh taskline yet, meaning they only have 5 tracks each.
Moonstruck Blossom - Toonupless/Lureless
Dark Lag Kirby - Trapless/Dropless
Phantom Chaos Storm - Toonupless/Lureless
Starless Nights - Toonupless/Lureless
This run could have gone a lot better imo. With a better floor 1 roll, remotes could've been avoided on the floors before the Boiler. Had there been a little bit better planning and better remote plays, we could have pulled off a standard 1 star run despite being way under the intended Laff needed for it. Quad Wedding at least made up for a lot of it in the end. Regardless, it was quite fun to pull this off.
imo the easiest boss of the 4 for this challenge, but i still cannot underestimate it!

Either way, I had a lot of good luck even on some 5% misses. Had any of the cogs exclusively target one of my Toons, the run would have been immediately over.
In hindsight, instead of Dark Lag Kirby I probably should have used my tank uber toon, Ice Kirby, so I wouldn't have the chance of rolling Toon-Up Gags for the golf game's restock.
and yes, i also did this because dark lag kirby needed raiders and head hunters lol

maybe it's time to work on a boiler guide soon because megasnoop's guide is terrible
A spontaneous challenge I opted to do after my buddy lolipoptable (Gracey) had suggested a duo CJ after me mulling over something else. Considering that there's no (to my knowledge) any recorded footage of a duo CJ tier without bonus weight, I used my other toon Ugly Slippy to bring down the average. Bob was there as our third but only to manipulate the sides to put Gracey and I together. As soon as that was confirmed, Bob disconnects and we proceed through the fight as normal.
The cog round went a lot easier than I had anticipated. I set my gags up with the expectation that we would need to play slower as soon as we ran out of 7s. While our speed was inconsistent, we only really needed some level 5s, all of our 6s, and most 7s. A bit shocking when the level pool of a CJ is 275 (550 in a single side run as we dealt with both sides at once), but it made for a very lenient rewardless run as we had a few poor accuracy rolls with Lure (notably one out of two Presentations). We could have optimized a little better in regards to Lure stuns for Big Magnets, as I wanted Organic Trapdoors when I used them but oh well. What matters is that we got through very easily.
The cannon round was okay, seating 8 is serviceable overall but didn't make a huge difference.
The scale round was an awkward one to start with. Our plan was simple -- don't stun, just hit the scales. We had the idea to try it without stunning but very quickly we saw that we weren't making any progress by doing so. I switched over to solo stunning to give us the edge and while I had a very terrible time getting back into the groove of it, I eventually got more consistent and we made more progress. The next major issue that came up was our impact on the scales compared to the Cogs. While it's 8 cogs, their healing to the CJ can undo our damage very quickly. It wasn't until a while in that I had tried focusing more on cog stunning even during the bonus cooldown. If the cogs can't throw their evidence as much, then we deal more longterm damage. That seemed to have worked out better near the end.
And finally, this was a very boring scale round. As much as I enjoy improving my ability to solo stun and do more challenges, this scale round taking 40 minutes was just a slog. At least we don't have to do it again, right??

Originally this was going to be a Morpho Knight Sword Kirby run, but even without upgrading its damage it trivializes the entire run thanks to lifesteal. Instead I went with MK Sword since I needed some kind of projectile to work with primarily for Supreme Dedede, but not one that gives me an autowin against every modded boss like Ranger or Morpho would. Plus, Meta Sword requires me to play a little bit carefully so I don't lose access to projectiles too early.

this was done on may 27th 2023, brought one of my noob toons to cause problems for my friends just wanting to get their sellbot suit. chaos ensues.
for the nerds:
nobody had maxed doodles so reliably stunning for lure was out of the question, the focus was on getting kills ASAP to reduce the overall damage we'd take as lure was already unreliable enough (but had it worked, things would've been so much better). nobody had toon-up either. double luring was also not possible as archer had level 1 lure, meaning that double lure would've done effectively nothing. vitamin D and i were lureless.
after killing the foreman (who could kill us all so easily, but we got very lucky) we focused on the telemarketer first because it has a 12 damage attack with pretty okay accuracy. glad hander and two-face are overall weaker and have lower accuracy on average. glad hander was next because of schmooze, doing more damage than what the two-face could've done.
and yes, stormin' hose has negative drip. i want him to be ugly as sin.
This was done after my Back Nine run as I realized rewardless Middle Six might be possible, but it does rely heavily on gag restocks being very favorable. Fortunately I had good restocks, but once I got to floor 6 I realized I may need to drop a unite anyway as I didn't have enough gags to quickly handle the level 10s while staying healthy enough for the final fight. So while rewardless wasn't possible for me, I felt that this run was good enough to post anyway as it is only a single reward run.
Rewards used:
- 1 Gag-Up All (Floor 6, got restock screwed on Floor 5 but it was likely I would need it anyway.)
Ninja's nerfed state in SA (compared to RtDL[DX]) makes it a bit tougher to use, but it can still do very solid DPS and the Clone Technique is amazing for nullifying damage and continuing to deal damage myself. This was the hardest no healing run I have done so far out of RtDLDX, FL, and now this game.
I also didn't fail any puzzles, so that's pretty neat.
Rewards used:
- 2 Fires (Could have been avoided with earlier Remotes)
- 1 Franz Neckvein (Could have been avoided if 2nd Opera didn't miss)
- 1 1-Star Damage Remote
- 2 2-Star Damage Remotes
- 3 3-Star Damage Remotes
Instead, I decided to run through RtDLDX's True Arena after not doing it for a while without healing. Any damage I take is permanent and I still have to be careful with each fight. Ninja is still incredible for high and fast damage against bosses, allowing me to play aggressive, but I can't let myself get too careless or miss too much against a boss that can easily punish me for my mistakes.
This run was a lot of fun, though!
Instead, I decided to run through UCZ after not doing it for a while without upgrades and beat it without healing. Any damage I take is permanent and I still have to be careful with each fight. But due to my low damage output, I need to play aggressive to do any meaningful damage and not spend too much time on a boss that can eventually rack up a lot of damage on me.
This run was a lot of fun, though!
