We biked 500 MILES across IOWA! (Our 50th STATE) | RAGBRAI 2023 Adventures of A+K 2023-09-03 | We biked 500 miles across our 50TH STATE of Iowa! When we knew we'd be finishing visiting all 50 US states this year, we couldn't pass up the chance to end with a bang by participating in RAGBRAI, an annual bike ride across the state of Iowa. Over 7 days we rode 500 miles from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River, passing through small towns and larger cities, endless fields of corn, and up and down tons of hills (Iowa is NOT flat).It was hands down the most challenging thing we have ever done, but also the most rewarding, with so many laughs, fun memories, and delicious food along the way. When the tide rises and pushes into the Shubenacadie River, it causes a surge of water, called a tidal bore which creates waves perfect for rafting. Experiencing the HIGHEST tides in the WORLD at the Bay of Fundy (Hopewell Rocks) Adventures of A+K 2023-08-13 | 📚 Planning a road trip in Atlantic Canada? Check out our Atlantic Canada eBook: adventuresofaplusk.com/atlantic-canada-ebook Located between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia lies one of the world’s greatest natural wonders, the Bay of Fundy. This body of water is home to the highest tides in the world, with 160 billion TONS of water flowing in and out of the bay every 6 hours, which is apparently enough to fill the Grand Canyon. 😱To see these crazy tides for ourselves, we spent 18 hours at Hopewell Rocks, a park known for its super cool flowerpot rocks. We experienced the park at low tide by walking on the very muddy ocean floor, which was pretty hilarious. Plus at high tide, both from overlooks and on a kayaking tour.
