SM64DS Glitch Video PART 2
updated
Hopefully I'll continue to make videos. I really want to but my motivation has been dead for everything for years. Maybe something will spring up for ideas with new equipment? I dunno. Lemme know if you guys have any ideas. If anyone still watches me. Heh.
A problem that arises is that, at some point around the 6-minute mark, 4 frames were dropped from the video. Since the video was recorded via a webcam in Sony Vegas and the audio was recorded via a Y-cable connected to my HD PVR, the audio and video get slightly out of sync around there. I tried to fix it as best I could, but it's not perfect.
I need to make a rig to hold the webcam while I record the video, but I lack the funds to do so right now and I wouldn't feel right asking for money so this will do for now.
Enjoy!

Anyway, I used the final boss of Portal as a test video. Enjoy!
Thanks to MikachuTuhonen for the method of avoiding his drain move.
This battle makes me realize that the Wii is still capable of some fairly impressive graphics.
Enjoy.
I've decided to run through the game and record boss fights at the same time. This is the first boss (duh) and I actually got hit by his lame moves! How embarrassing!
Also, the skip button is in the corner of the cutscene because my Wii lost power after my first attempt and I had to start over.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

This run is far from perfect, but I got the medal. Enjoy.
And, before anyone asks, yeah, I do, in fact, own the Japanese version of this game.
Since the videos were so short, I put them all together and added the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Gourmet Race remix to it.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
Man, does this video ever show how broken Dodge Roll is. Seriously, I could just mash square for half an hour and I probably wouldn't get hit. This is why this fight is so much easier with Ven than it is with Terra. Terra's dodge is total shit compared to Ven's.
Anyway, enjoy.
Anyway, enjoy.
Anyway, enjoy.
I HATE THIS BATTLE SO FUCKING MUCH. JESUS CHRIST THIS GUY IS SO CHEAP. Y U NO PLAY FAIR?!
...Anyway, the fact that I'm only at level 44 doesn't help this fight at all. All of his attacks put me at 1 HP, so I could have been at level 1 and this fight wouldn't be that much harder. Which is OK because I don't need this fight to be any harder than it already is.
Enjoy!
Coliseum battles work better for relocation, since they start in the center of the area.
Anyway, enjoy.

The basic strategy is to loop him in this fight. To do this, start by guarding his attack at the beginning of the fight, then do a hit (x4)+Guard Break combo. Stand close to (but not right next to) him while he recovers, then Guard to block his counterattack. He can counter with three different moves. One is the one he started the fight with. It won't connect with your safety Guard, but you'll have enough to use Guard again and block the attack. His second move is a series of slashes, with a finishing dash attack. Guard twice to block the initial slashes, wait for him to jump back charge up, then Guard to stun him.
He's vulnerable after both these attacks, so get him in a combo again and continue this pattern. His third attack will only occur if you're too far away from him. It's a jump attack, and won't connect with your initial Guard, so Dodge Roll out of the way and wait for him to stop and unleash another attack. If it's the jump attack again, just avoid it and wait until he uses one of the other two moves. Once he does, Guard the attack and continue with the above pattern.
Once he's lost about 4 1/4 bars of HP, he'll start sending out light pillars with his moves. The loop still works fine, but you'll have to stay the perfect distance from him so light pillars don't accidentally smack into you. If he does his charge-up attack, back up a bit before you Guard so his physical attack hits your Keyblade before the light pillar does. Then just continue with the loop.
I mentioned at the beginning that this strategy isn't 100% efficient. That's because, when he uses his multiple slash move, sometimes he'll spawn a light pillar either in front of you or right on top of you, killing you instantly. It's a pain, yeah, but it's the only way I know how to do this.
In his third form, he'll send out light pillars when he moves, but if you continue the loop he shouldn't ever move. If he does, you'll have to try and Dodge Roll the pillars and wait for an opening.
There are a few moves he shouldn't use if you do this right, but here they are anyways:
Spinning Keyblades: Roxas moves at high speeds through the air and tries to smack you with his Keyblades. This can be Guarded, except for the last attack of the DM version of the move, which has to be Dodge Rolled.
Light Orbs: Roxas goes to the center and shoots light at you. Just Glide around the arena to avoid them.
Slo-mo Clash: A small scene occurs and all command slots are replaced with question marks. After a couple seconds, one will will change to The End. Select it in time to steal Roxas's Keyblades. Dodge Roll forward immediately after and get one combo in. After that, just Dodge Roll all his light pillars until he decides to steal them back. Use the Reversal command to avoid taking damage, then resume the loop. If you don't select The End in time, Roxas will slice through you and you'll die (at level 1, anyway).
If you just continue the loop, he'll go down eventually.

Before the battle, make sure you have no Combo Pluses equipped, since they will mess you up.
At the start, Larxene will try to attack you with lightning (duh). Dodge Roll back and Quick Run towards her to avoid the attack, then smack her with your Keyblade before she can attack again. Avoid the counterattack using Dodge Roll. At this point she will either a) try to hit you with lightning again, which can be avoided by using two consecutive Dodge Rolls with a follow-up combo; or b) make the screen go dark and clone herself. Stay away from her if she does this because her aura hurts you. Guard or Dodge Roll the dash across the screen.
When she's cloned, one of her will teleport and try to attack you while the other one just flips around. Guard her attack and follow up with a combo. If you see her clone teleport to attack, use Finishing Leap to damage both Larxenes (since both of them share an HP bar, she'll take double damage). If this happens, both Larxenes should start their next attacks at around the same time, so wait for both attacks to finish then get a combo in. If both Larxenes are phased by the attack, at the end of the combo an RC should appear. Use it after you've used both finishers to combine the Larxenes into one, then get a combo in and dodge the counterattack. This RC appears any time you use a finisher on one Larxene while the other is idle.
After about 4 bars of HP are missing, Larxene will go into her second form. While she's alone, she'll either a) use the same attack she opened the battle with, which can be avoided with a Dodge Roll and a Quick Run (make sure to Quick Run next to her so you can attack her before she attacks again); or b) clone herself. If she runs towards you while she's by herself, stand and wait for her to reach you. When she starts to attack, Dodge Roll then Quick Run as far away from her as possible, since she'll try it a total of three times before giving up and trying something else.
When she's cloned in this form, she'll try two attacks. Her first attack is teleporting, then doing some stylized jumping attacks accompanied by lightning. You can Guard this just like her first form's similar attack. She'll often try this several times in a row, but just keeping guarding it. Don't try to attack her, since it'll often screw you up.
Her second attack happens when both Larxenes teleport at the same time. When they reappear, they'll do one of three dashing moves. They can all be avoided by Guard or Dodge Roll, and they all have the same timing, so I won't go into individual attack detail. I suggest you Dodge Roll towards the center of the arena so that after the attack, you can start to attack one of the Larxenes. If you get a finisher in there fast enough, or the other Larxene remains idle for long enough, the RC will appear and you can declone her again. If it doesn't appear, use Quick Run after your Explosion to avoid her drop attack. She drops down twice before stopping, after which you can attack her again. You can loop her if you get her into this stage. The clone at this point is invisible, waiting for this Larxene to disappear so they can do a combo move. As long as you keep doing combos and avoiding her counterattack, she's stuck in the loop. Now this will only work until she has 5 1/2 bars of HP left. After that, she'll be in her final form and will drop down several more times before stopping.
Once she's in her final form, she gets a lot harder. She has three different standard lightning moves now: a) the one she used at the start of the battle; b) she shoots a homing series of lightning bolts at you. These are pretty easy to avoid, since they're the only ones that you can simply go around. Dodge Roll around them and use Slide Dash/Flash Step to start a combo on Larxene; or c) a similar move to her standard lightning move for her first form, just longer. I don't really know how to avoid this, other than Dodge Rolling and hoping you don't accidentally get hit.
She also has a desperation move, where she'll spin around with two beams of electricity shooting out of her arms, while lightning also rains from the sky. Use glide to avoid it and Guard her attack afterwards. She clones herself after this, as well.
While she's cloned, she has two basic moves. When both Larxenes teleport at roughly the same time, they'll can at you with a flurry of attacks. Three Guards should suffice in blocking it. When both Larxenes are idle, lay a combo on them and use the RC to declone Larxene. If one teleports noticeably before the other, odds are Larxenes will rain down. Stand against the wall and use Guard three times to block it (it isn't 100% effective, though).
Just keep at it until she goes down.
So, enjoy.

Yes, that means NO GUARD and NO GROWTH ABILITIES. You might think it was super annoying to do this, and it was. However, it was also a ton of fun.
Before the fight, if you're not unequipping all those abilities, at the very least unequip all you Combo Pluses and Counterguard, then equip the Fenrir keychain. You need to only have one combo hit before your finishers to do this, and unequipping Counterguard will help A LOT when Marluxia is using his desperation moves.
At the start, he'll put death vines around your party. Start by getting a hit+Guard Break combo on him before he teleports for some additional damage. When he reappears, use a hit+Guard Break+Explosion combo on him. If the first hit is a Flash Step, that's even better because you want to put some distance you and Ronald and Goopy, since their death vines can hurt you too when they explode. If you timed your combo correctly you should land Explosion just as the death vines explode. Since Explosion has i-frames when special effects surround your Keyblade, you will receive no damage from the explosion.
After you finish the combo, he will teleport for a counterattack. To avoid damage, do a hit+Guard Break combo. Make sure the Guard Break activates just as he reappears, since Guard Break has i-frames as well and will block his attack.
He should then start charging his tornado attack. To guard this, Slide Dash into him just as he unleashes it and his scythe should connect with your Keyblade, giving Sora the guard stance. When his attack finishes, use the Air Trample RC for a lot of damage. If you use the Counter Rob RC instead, you won't do any damage, and since you're at level 1 it won't replenish the counter. When you have control of Sora again, use the following combo to get him to counter: hit+Guard Break, hit+Guard Break+Explosion (which will from now on be referred to in this description as THE STANDARD COMBO). Block his counter and repeat this once more.
By now he should have lost enough HP to stop his tornado move and start teleporting to the middle to try his death circle move. Immediately after he appears, hit him with your Keyblade and use the standard combo to get him to counter. If you attack him too late, he'll start his death circle move. If he does, get to one of the safe areas at the side. Once the circles have formed, he will surround your party in death orbs again and use one of two moves. For his first move, he will go into the ground and spin towards you. Smack him with your Keyblade when he's underground to make Sora go into the guard stance, which should give you enough i-frames to let the death orbs explode safely. You can then use the standard combo on him and get him back in the loop.
However, if he jumps towards you instead, you're pretty much screwed. I haven't found a way to block this attack. Anyway, the lesson of this is to make sure you hit him before he starts his death circle move.
Once he has about 6 1/2 bars of HP left, he'll start using his DMs. Here are the strategies for both of them:
Dark Pillars+Scythe Throw+Dive Bomb:
For this, start by running around in a circle about the size of the circle in the center of the arena. This should make all the dark pillars miss you. When you see Marluxia's arm move, start an attack with your Keyblade. He should throw his scythe while you're in the middle of your attack, which will put Sora, once again, in the guard stance. When Sora is just about out of the guard stance, attack once more the block the second half. This should give you just enough i-frames so that Marluxia's dive bomb will just miss you. Now use the standard combo and block his counterattack.
Scythe Saw:
When you see him go underground, wait for him to come towards you then smack him with your Keyblade to guard the attack. When you have control of Sora again, lock onto Marluxia and run towards him. If done correctly, he should circle around you, making his whole attack miss you. When he comes up from underground, use the standard combo on him and guard his counterattack.
He'll continue just using DMs as long as you can keep getting combos in on him, so just repeat until he dies.
Note: If you fail to land a combo on him or you don't make him counter after one of his DMs, he'll start doing other crazy combos that are, AFAIK, impossible to block without Guard, so make sure that doesn't happen.
Basically what you want to do in this fight is get Luxord's time meter down to zero while keeping Sora's up. Whenever he says "A challenge, is it?" run up to him and press Triangle to start the RC. Press Circle when the circle icon stops on the correct part of the command menu to make him lose some time. If you fail, you'll turn into a card or a die, lose time, and he'll gain time. Just wait for the drive gauge to empty, if this happens, and try again. After you successfully complete the roulette, get a combo on him and Quick Run away to avoid the counterattack.
After another roulette game, he'll sink into the ground as a card and create more cards around him. When he comes out of the ground, use the RC on the card with Luxord on its face and get a combo in on him.
After this, just continue the standard roulette+combo routine until his time bar is about 1/5 full. At this point he'll use his desperation move. The initial part con be avoided by gliding around in a circle. After this you'll have to do a roulette on all four slots of the command menu. If you fail, you'll turn into a card or a die and you'll lose a ton of time, while he gains a ton. If you succeed, his time meter will drop to zero, so all you have to do is use Thundaga or Blizzaga on him to knock him out.
