Driven Porsche v TVR pt4 26 09 2002 @1stDash

Dash-1st Channel 4 Driven Porsche Boxter S vs TVR Tamora.

Pt4. includes the results of the audience vote & the audience Win a car (Porsche) competition.

This was recorded on 26th September 2002 & was the last recording where a prize of a used car was won by a member of the audience, which just happened to be my wife.

My wife (lunatic Nikki) was one of four (3rd to go) people chosen to take part in a hand brake challenge & had to deliver a line to the camera. My wife, had only just passed her driving test 3 days earlier & she'd never driven hand braked a car until Jason Plato took her out in the Porsche 924 (the car to be won) & gave her a 10 minute lesson in the art of the hand brake turn.

What also added to this competition was when my wife came to have her try...she'd been told by Jason Plato to give it plenty of power & just go for it, which she did. I'm sure from the side shot of her waiting you can see how nervous she was, but then sped off as fast as she could. She did do a great handbrake turn, but over shot the yellow line she was supposed to stop at & with her doing this she sent several film crew members running, including the camera man, the sound man & also Jason Plato, who has since told us that he nearly pulled a muscle in his back as he couldn't move fast enough. Needless to say everyone standing watching gave a HUGE cheer for my wife & everyone found it really funny, well except the poor sound man who was the last to move.

If you look closely at the lad who went 4th after he gave his line & was told he'd not won, he looked totally shocked, he actually came up to me when the cameras stopped running & did ask if my wife would sell him the car for....£50...Cheeky git. He was of course told no & my wife does still have the car now (nicknamed JP by her) & once we got it back, we put it in to a local specialist & had the engine completely overhauled.

The car has not been used quite as much over the last few years as she can't put a child seat in it, but she's said she's never going to sell it as it's her pride & joy.

We did meet some great people on the day & it would be interesting to see if anyone else who was there has spotted themselves in any of the 4 parts of the video.

Here's a couple of odd facts from the day:

1. There were 2 test cars from both Porsche & TVR

2. One of the 2 Porsche Boxter S cars had to be pushed back in to finish the filming as some of the testers (audience) burnt the clutch out completely.

3. The average speed most people were getting on the longest straight in the Porsche was 135mph. The TVR took a different shorter route & averaged 115mph.

4. The 2 drivers in the 'Car Sumo' were actually members of the film crew.

5. The people singing along to Kylie in the car at the end were also film crew, not sent in as made out.

But we had a great day & got to meet some lovely people, with fantastic cars (especially the owners of the bright yellow TVR Cerbera).

Dash-1st 2012-09-18 | Channel 4 Driven Porsche Boxter S vs TVR Tamora.

Pt4. includes the results of the audience vote & the audience Win a car (Porsche) competition.

This was recorded on 26th September 2002 & was the last recording where a prize of a used car was won by a member of the audience, which just happened to be my wife.

Needless to say everyone standing watching gave a HUGE cheer for my wife & everyone found it really funny, well except the poor sound man who was the last to move.

The car has not been used quite as much over the last few years as she can't put a child seat in it, but she's said she's never going to sell it as it's her pride & joy.

Building work, Puerto Rico, main road 13 July 2018, pt4

Dash-1st 2018-07-13 | This shows how much is happening on the main road in to Puerto Rico, which is near the Terazamar Sun Suite's. This was taken at 10am while some workmen were on their break & it's still noisy.

I must say that It was busy at the moment I took this video, but it does ease off as the day goes on & it can quieten down.

I hope these video's help answer people's questions about the current building work in Puerto Rico.

Building work, Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria Ground level 13 July 2018, pt3

Dash-1st 2018-07-13 | This is as bad as it gets for people in the lower levels of the Sun Suite's. I must say that I would not be happy if I was on a lower floor.

This video was taken a few feet away from the lower exit on floor 1 & as you can see there is nothing blocking the building site from the hotel lower complex (floors 1-6).

I would not be happy if my family had to put up with the constant noise & dust, coming from over the road.

I have added 1 last video to show the building work by the main road in to Puerto Rico. You will see there are 2 different sites, which are on either side of the main road in to the town.

I hope this helps people to see what is going on.

Building work, Puerto Rico, Terazamar Sun Suites July 13 2018, pt2

Dash-1st 2018-07-13 | This was taken from floor 6 of the lower complex next to the pool area & above the tennis courts. It is a lot noiser here, than in the other higher sections of the hotel & I personally would not be to happy staying this close to such a big building site.

Checkout the next video for ground level (floor 1) or my first video taken at the Royal Suite section.

Building work Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria. July 13 2018...pt1

Dash-1st 2018-07-13 | Video taken at 8:15 am from floor 3 Royal Sun Suite's, at the top of the Terazamar Sun Suite's complex.

The video shows the current building work in Puerto Rico, which is on both sides of the road when entering from the GC1 side of the town.

Where we are staying in the Royal Suite section of the hotel, the sound is not too bad & cannot be heard at all inside the apartment when the door/windows are closed. I can imagine that the noise will most likely disturb people in the lower complex of the hotel & I will go closer to take more video to show you better. I can say that the noise seems to be worse when the heavy machines are moving on their tracks on the site.

I must say that during the day, the noise is not intrusive around the pool area on floor 10, so it's not a problem.

Building Work Raddison Blu Mogan 21-07-16

Dash-1st 2016-08-05 | This video was taken from room 933 Cordial Mogan Valle Apartments on July 21st 2016 at 13:30hrs.

It shows the current work being carried out on the new Radisson Blu hotel & shows the little noise disruption being caused. We were there for 2wks from 12th-26th July & I can say that the only time we noticed anything was when popping to the local Super Dino supermarket around lunchtime, this is when workers would sit under the trees nearby.

We had no excess dust or noise pollution at all & enjoyed our stay.

F1 Camera man hit by wheel German GP 2013

Dash-1st 2013-07-07 | An FIA F1 camera man, 'Paul Allen' gets hit from behind by a loose wheel (which weighs 18kg on a scale) from Mark Webber's Red Bull racing car. I've tried to show both real time speed & then followed by slow motion, but the action happened so fast that the slow version still goes by quickly.

The camera man (Paul) was taken to the medical center where they announced he had suffered a Broken Collar Bone & Several Broken Ribs, but he did stay conscious all the time after being hit. So thankfully he was ok.

Maisys 1st Somersault

Dash-1st 2013-05-31 | This is my 4yr old autistic daughter Maisy, who while happily playing on her trampoline decided to show me how she does a "Somersault".....bless her I didn't want to tellher she was only doing a roly poly.

Millennium Bridge Gateshead Breaksdown & gets Stuck OPEN - 12/04/2013

Dash-1st 2013-04-12 | I went to video the Gateshead Millennium Bridge opening & closing for my 2 young girls as we were staying nearby, but things did not go to plan.

The bridge was due to be open for 11:30am Friday 12th April, which it did ok, but when it came to closing the bridge had other plans. It stayed open stuck nearly all the way, but I thought maybe it was a slight hiccup & would be sorted quickly, how wrong I was. I let the first video run from it opening until I realized it was stuck, so about 12-13mins long & stopped it so I could walk along to see what was wrong.

After waiting 25mins & getting no information I took a little bit more footage from the side of it, where you can see some men on the other side of the river trying to sort it out. Eventually one man finally came over to confirm it had broken down & it would be at least another 30mins until someone would be there to sort it. So as it was freezing cold & raining I took a walk back to our apartment where I could see it from our balcony. I did taken a small video of it being lowered, very very slowly back down,but my camera battery gave out before it got to the bottom, but it did get back down after approximately 1hr 15mins of being stuck.

If you watch at approximately 7mins into the video, as the bridge is coming down, you can see it stop & looks like it bounces/rocks back a little bit.

Fingers crossed it will be working ok for Saturday nights raising & light show.

This was also one of the final performances of Good Charlotte with the then drummer Chris Wilson, who left the band with lots of rumors going around as to why he left.

It was filmed (secretly) from the balcony above the stage, but the picture & sound quality was not bad for being filmed on a mini dv camcorder. My wife was at the front of the crowd, center stage, while I was on the balcony with my son who idolized Benji & dressed up for the gig to & was told by several vip's upstairs that he was the coolest looking kid in the place.

Washington UK flooding 2012

Dash-1st 2012-09-25 | This is some video which shows how the footpaths at the side of our house flooded in 2012. As you can see we had so much rain that it turned the footpath into a river & nearly got in to some houses.

Thankfully we are at the top of a slope & it did not directly affect us, though we did go to help the neighbors clean up.

Seat Sex Drive Men vs Women Driving challenge

Dash-1st 2012-09-24 | My wife Nikki taking part in the Seat Sex Drive, Men vs Women Driving challenge 2010.

We were invited along to the Prodrive garages & test facility to have a day of different driving challeges, which included putting a car back together, drifting, crash avoidance tests, skid control & Cops n' Robbers. Each section had assistance from professional pit crew mechanics & racing drivers, both male & female. I myself was taken on the drift section with Tom Onslow Cole, who was a great laugh in the car.

It was hosted by Vicky Butler Henderson & Jonny Smith from Fifth Gear, plus there were celebrity team mentors, Emma Willis & Jack Osbourne.

The video shows highlights of all the challenges & also the footage of my wife Nikki taking part in the Cops n' Robbers challenge.

This program was aired on Channel 4 UK in 2002 & was made by IWds productions, a company which I have tried to contact re copyright but it no longer exists. I have been able to contact Jason Plato & Mike Brewer & both were more than happy for me to show this, in fact they were both pleased to see it. All rights for the filming of the cars, in the main program & in the 'New Metal' section had all rights given by the manufacturers.

We did meet some great people on the day & it would be interesting to see if anyone else who was there has spotted themselves in any of the 4 parts of the video.

Here's a couple of odd facts from the day:

1. There were 2 test cars from both Porsche & TVR

2. One of the 2 Porsche Boxter S cars had to be pushed back in to finish the filming as some of the testers (audience) burnt the clutch out completely.

3. The average speed most people were getting on the longest straight in the Porsche was 135mph. The TVR took a different shorter route & averaged 115mph.

4. The 2 drivers in the 'Car Sumo' were actually members of the film crew.

5. The people singing along to Kylie in the car at the end were also film crew, not sent in as made out.

But we had a great day & got to meet some lovely people, with fantastic cars (especially the owners of the bright yellow TVR Cerbera).

This program was aired on Channel 4 UK in 2002 & was made by IWds productions, a company which I have tried to contact re copyright but it no longer exists. I have been able to contact Jason Plato & Mike Brewer & both were more than happy for me to show this, in fact they were both pleased to see it. All rights for the filming of the cars, in the main program & in the 'New Metal' section had all rights given by the manufacturers.
