Royal icing on cookies | Wet on wet technique Create With Amy 507 2023-02-13 | Let's decorate some cookies for Valentine's Day! I am also including my favorite recipes to make these!Amy's favorite Sugar Cookies (Butter Cookies)1 cup sugar3/4 cup butter, softened2 eggs1 teaspoon vanilla2 1/2 cups of all purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder1 teaspoon saltAdd sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla and beat until creamy. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Roll out dough on a floured surface to about 1/8" thick, cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Bake on cookie sheet (I prefer insulated cookie sheets) for 10-11 minutes. Cool and then decorate with royal icing recipe (below).Amy's favorite Royal Icing recipe1 pound (4 cups) powdered sugar1 ounce (3 Tablespoons) meringue powder (dried egg whites)2 fl. oz (1/4 cup) water and add until it is the right consistency (mine was approximately 1/2 cup1 teaspoon vanilla or almond flavoringMix all ingredients, adding water until it reaches a flooding consistency of 10-12 seconds as shown in video. Keep frosting covered that isn't being used.
