Commissioned to Comfort | Following Christ’s Call Inspired Expressions Live 2026-03-28 | In 2025 I met a man who had the same passion for God's people as I do. We met while we were asked to be servant leaders at a Spiritual Retreat. In one of our first conversations, I mentioned how I was traveling, on my way to serve those who were residing in a homeless shelter. He then told me that God had placed in his heart to serve those in our community, but he just hadn't done so yet. We talked about how we could do this and set up a time and a date to make this happen. Little did we know, what actually was about to happen. That Sunday, after church, we went to Costco and packed the car full of fruit, drinks, food, and snacks. We prayed and asked God to lead us where He wanted us to go. We turned up gospel and praise songs in the car and drove until the Lord told us to stop. We ended up spending 5-6 hours in Washington, D.C and parts of Maryland. While it may have looked like we were just giving out food, God did something much greater and more powerful than that. We walked alongside people, listened and talked with people, loved on people and when asked- prayed with people. I felt so on purpose. Like I was walking right in line with God's Will for my life. The blessing that I received from the beautiful people that I met that day was life changing. Interestingly enough, I fell in love that day, to the man that God partnered me to. Over the next few weeks, we scheduled more and more times to get together to serve God's people in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area. Labeling, doesn't do this justice. Saying it's outreach or that we are "feeding the homeless" isn't even what this is. It is serving God's people, walking alongside them, loving them listening to them and praying with them.In this video, I captured just a glimpse of how we felt after serving. Our goal is not to highlight ourselves, but to highlight the blessings of following Christ's call on your life. My love and I have since married (2025), and have been blessed with a Church home, Capital Church capitalchurch.org who not only embraced us wholeheartedly- but also this ministry.
