#watch #2024 #luxury #newsThe Oval N1 Grail Watch by Derek PrattWATCHES TV2024-10-04 | The iconic Urban Jürgensen Oval Watch No. 1 is renowned in the watchmaking world as one of the grail watches.
This horological masterpiece was created by Derek Pratt for the Urban Jürgensen brand and was inspired by the proportions widely used by Abraham-Louis Breguet. With all his mastery of traditional watchmaking, it took Pratt 23 years—almost half of his horological career—to complete this audacious project.
Everything in this pocket marvel is made by hand, from the silvery engine-turned dial, where the time is indicated by the rounded, solid-gold Breguet-style hour and minute hands, to the impeccable finishing of the intricate mechanism hidden behind the hinged lid on the reverse. The movement's layout showcases the finest examples of various finishing techniques, which require endless patience, precision, and an extraordinary level of craftsmanship. And the flying tourbillon with an integrated remontoire, invented by Pratt, is undoubtedly the highlight of the watch.
Watch this video to learn more about this outstanding creation and discover who also collaborated with Pratt on this project.
The Urban Jürgensen Oval Watch No. 1 will be put on sale at the @PhillipsAuctioneers "Reloaded: The Rebirth of Mechanical Watchmaking, 1980–1999" in Geneva on 8 November: phillips.com/auctions/auction/CH080524

#watch #watchmaking #2024 #tech #technology #chrono #switzerland #historyThe Thinnest Watch Youve Ever Seen!WATCHES TV2024-09-11 | While big brands spend millions and years on RND in new technologies to reduce the watchcase diameter by a couple of millimetres, Konstantin @kchaykin Chaykin rocks the stage with the thinnest #watch in the world (so far)!
It took him less than 18 months to create the first prototype of a steel watch in a watchcase of an insane 1,65mm height, beating the world record set first by @RichardMilleOfficial (1,75mm) and then by @bvlgariofficial (1,7mm). At least 3 patents were gained during the process, however, we should still wait for the timepiece to be available for purchase.
Watch our #new video to find out how one independent watchmaker made it happen and Hail to the ThinKing!
The #new #watch is the first three-hand automatic watch with a brand-new movement designed and developed in collaboration with Dubois Depraz. The JCB-003 calibre has a bi-directional micro-rotor and a zero-reset mechanism with a 65-hour power reserve. The overall #design of the timepiece showcases the new #aesthetics of the brand, focusing on timeless design and elegance. Just look at the chemin-de-fer for the minute track on the dial!
The perfect interpretation of GADA watch comes in an ideal size of 39 mm in two series: Gold and Atelier. Highlighted in the Gold Series are platinum and rose gold editions, while the Atelier models will come in pietersite and obsidian dials.
The newtimepiece was made to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the manufacture. It is a reimagined, historically significant innovation of the brand. The Dual-Time Resonance GMT displays two independent time zones, with indications of hours and minutes for each. But it’s not that simple, as the #watch also supports time zones that deviate from GMT by fractions of an hour. Day/Night indicators provide relevant AM/PM context for each time zone, all perfectly housed in a slim 39mm white gold case.
The only problem is that this beauty is limited to just 25 pieces.
First is the T35, made by L'Épée to mark its 185th anniversary of continuous existence. The design of this new art object meticulously replicates a legendary racing machine that is considered the greatest race car of all time. The T35 launches in a limited edition of 100 pieces in each of four colours: French Racing Blue, British Racing Green, Obsidian Black, and Rosso Corsa. Plus, there's a secret feature hidden inside the engine.
The second is perhaps the most ambitious and technically audacious clock ever created by L'Épée 1839 in collaboration with MB&F. Comprising a staggering 1,520 components, Albatross features a striking hour function—chiming both the specific hours on the hour and a single strike on the half-hour—and an automaton composed of 16 pairs of propellers that launch into action every hour. Thanks to the two movements, it is possible to have the propellers turn without the hour chime, and vice versa.

Crafted with a multi-structured modular case, the Chronodate features a super-lightweight yet durable carbon composite housing the in-house A-500 calibre. This high-performance movement beats at 4 Hz and offers an impressive 60-hour power reserve. Made from 5-grade titanium, "Anywhere Aurora" is limited to 25 pieces. Each timepiece bears the in-house calibre C030, meticulously designed, developed, and assembled in Neuchatel, Switzerland, by Rémi Maillat, master watchmaker and founder of Krayon. The movement consists of 432 components and has a 72-hour power reserve.

#luxurywatch #2024 #luxurylifestyle #swisswatch #design #techThe Most Technological Retro Watch Youve Ever Seen!WATCHES TV2024-09-03 | What started as a fun unique timepiece for Watches & Wonders swiftly developed into a series of funky watches for those who appreciate some quirky retro design.
The RETROVISION ’47 is a wristwatch mimicking the marbled green look of an actual Bakelite broadcast receiver from the 1940s. However, do not be fooled by the ultra-retro look of the piece, as the case is made of titanium and hand-painted. Inside there is a D20 in-house automatic movement with a double-hairspring flying tourbillon. Beating at a frequency of 3Hz, this "radio" has a power reserve of 72 hours. The gold-plated brass dial has an embossed Möbius pattern, and Super-LumiNova® gently covers indexes and tourbillon rings.
The highly technological work of art is limited to 10 pieces only, but having this teleport to your childhood memories on your wrist is priceless.

After a refreshing summer break, we're back with a comprehensive recap of the latest developments in the watchmaking industry, particularly on the #business front. Everything you #love is here: suspense, passion, high speed, big money, a pinch of disappointment, a nugget of fear, along with a lot of respect for watches and the people who make them for us.
Many brands have been holding off on launching their new timepieces because of the #Geneva #watch Week and other events. So we are here to discuss some significant changes involving key figures' shifts, #highlights of important deals, and declining Swiss watch exports, a topic we've covered before but has now clearly accelerated. We'll break down what this means for the industry, addressing the implications and exploring the outlook moving forward. While some social media posts and blogs are sounding alarm bells, suggesting a doomsday scenario, we believe there's still room for optimism, even in these changing #market conditions. Let's get started!
We met Yuksel from Microqubic at the @ephj this summer and invited him to our club to have a field test of his invention with some fantastic #swiss watches. And even though this optical tool initially was not intended to film timepieces, we are happy to share some crazy results you can get with this mechanical toy.
On the technical side, the 3D microscope is compatible with Windows, can do videos with 4 K resolution, and has 7 motors and 4 illumination sources. It weighs 2,5 kg and the base measures 16x28 cm.

In this video, we introduce you to a #swiss brand that turns ordinary materials into extraordinary #cuckooclock wonders.

The new brand we are presenting today was born out of a fruitful collaboration between two geniuses. After several years of working together, Dominique Renaud, a pioneer of contemporary horology, and Julien Tixier, a prodigious young talent, forged a creative alliance to challenge the seven fundamentals of micromechanics and apply innovative concepts to watchmaking.
Their inaugural timepiece, a three-hand #watch christened 'Monday,' showcases their first innovation: a kinetic engine micro-rotor that pushes the boundaries of micromechanics.
Watch the full video to find out what can be achieved with this invention in horology and what will follow after this edition is sold out.
The "Primordial Passion" was born from a small idea, and quickly grew into a big project that took almost 5 years to realise. With the mechanism coming from Switzerland, and the marquetry produced 100% in-house, this #watch serves as another reminder that passion for watchmaking has no boundaries.
And while the #design is always a subjective appreciation the level of commitment put into this piece is truly exceptional and this can totally and objectively be perceived when you look at all the details and the complexity that comes along. No wonder that the #luxury "Primordial Passion" will be competing in the Artistic Crafts category at this year’s GPHG.
Watch this video and tell us what you think about the artistic crafts of #Albania.
