This is a 48 color set of gorgeous, rich colors and is very reasonably priced for the beginner. I’m not very experienced in the use of pastels but I do love to play with them in my mixed media art. Today I’m using them with water and hand carved stamps to create a beautiful background paper. Love the look in theory--in reality on this journal spread, not so much! I played the roulette game once again where I let a random draw of the cards dictate the medium and technique I used. Perhaps that was the problem! I think I was able to salvage it with the addition of florals in the end. Did I Ruin This Art Journal Page?—Journal With Me Full Process Video eb_mixedmedia 2025-06-19 | I made an amazing background! Then I kept going. Did I ruin it? This was an exercise in practicing what I preach. It’s only paper and paint. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t like the final result. Don’t get precious with it, trust the process, and keep on playing and experimenting. It turns out I like the end result—but I also went back and recreated that amazing background to have in my stash of papers. Once again, I'm loving these watercolors. They are creamy and vibrant and the selection of colors allowed for mixing some wonderful fall shades. I also liked the sketch book.
