The music video was made by printing the illustrations onto pieces of card, cutting them out and arranging them on a table with pieces of wire to hold them up. I then used a copy stand and digital camera to film the camera moves, using the ruler on the stand to move the camera a millimetre at a time. Sometimes I would film the camera move twice with different lighting set ups and then fade between them in After Effects. I also used After Effects' time warp to slow the camera moves down and add the scratched film effectSheepfilms GIF Compilationsheepfilms2010-02-03 | A compilation of various GIF animations from my website or posted on b3ta.com
Rich Keyworth kindly made the lovely music track, please hire him or listen to more of his work here: http://www.myspace.com/ambeson
Almost everything was made in Adobe After Effects, with a few bits of 3D done in Maya

Laeto is a 4-piece independent rock band from Scotland that has been active since 1998. The track 'Ecuador' is from Laeto's 3rd album, available now. http://laeto.co.uk
The promo was shot mostly with a Canon IXUS 60 (SD600 in America), using the burst mode. I also used a Canon G5 for a few shots. No video cameras were used to make this film. I had some 2gig SD cards to store the photos, the little easel you see in the film, 2 tripods and a photo copy stand for the "video wall" shots. Oh, and some Christmas lights. The panning time lapse with done by attaching the camera to a clockwork egg timer - http://www.flickr.com/photos/27117703@N00/3549316387
I used the burst mode on the camera with a bit of string and a button, tied around the camera to keep the shutter button pushed down. The CHDK firmware hack really helped me, with controllable intervalometer for time lapse and more control over the ND filter, very handy for blurry shots in daylight - http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK
There is minimal post production in this video. Colour correction, some speeding up/slowing down and repositioning of the frame to straighten and reformat the frame for widescreen. All the picture in picture shots were done with actual print outs or the images in a slideshow on a monitor
The song is 5 minutes long, which is 7500 frames at 25fps. But with various shots being shortened or not being used I estimate that I've taken 60,000 photos to make this promo, over the course of almost 2 years. I can tell this because the picture counter on the camera (IMG_0001, IMG_0002, IMG_9999 etc.) has reset to zero about 6 times since I started this video.
Thanks to Laeto for being incredibly patient with me over the long production of this video, and Gabriel Lee for ideas and help filmingCat Hairsheepfilms2009-05-14 | Making use of cat hair you find all over your clothes.
