This track started with just a few simple drones that I had abandoned back in October of 2022. After we completed 'After The Flood' LUCHS had asked if I had any other tracks we could work on, and I found this one collecting dust in my hard drive. I sent it over to him, and a few days later he had sent it back to me pretty much the way you're hearing it now. This was a quick piano improv to him, but I loved it. Alaskan Tapes - Who Tends A Garden (Extended 4 Track Version) Alaskan Tapes 2022-11-10 | I wanted to make a playthrough video of Who Tends A Garden like I did for Then and Library Fields, but unfortunately I couldn't find a practical way to do it with the granular synthesis involved in the official track. So I decided to put it to tape and "play the 4 track" with a couple of pedals. The original plan was to play it in a garden, but in Canada in the middle of November that wasn't really possible. It was a nice day so I took it to the beach, set up a little stone pad to keep the sand away, and put down my pedals and tried it out. It worked really well I think! Something I love about tape is the ease of detuning. As you hear in the second half that low detuning is so nice and satisfying. I may have to turn it into a lutes jennings track.
