Traslado de El alma del Viejo Teatro al Nuevo Teatro Argentino de La Plata Clari Cosens 2020-05-25 | “El alma del viejo Teatro” es una escultura no figurativa, testimonial, creada por el Dr. Rodolfo Cosentino entre los años 1982 y 1983. Fue realizada con los hierros retorcidos del Teatro Argentino de La Plata incendiado el 18 de Octubre de 1977; tiene una altura de 6 metros y pesa con la base 5 toneladas. Fue trasladada al Nuevo Teatro Argentino de La Plata el 26 de Febrero del año 2020.Música: “Habla el Poeta” de Robert Schumann interpretado en piano por Clarita Cosentino.Transfer of "The soul of the Old Theater" to the New Argentine Theater.My grandfather said of his sculpture: "On October 18, 1977 a voracious fire destroyed the Argentine Theater in La Plata. He was defeated. We were moved.When I saw the twisted iron beams lying on the floor, my dialogue with them began. They stimulated my spirit of invention and I decided to create a non-figurative sculpture that would retain the soul of the Old Theater among its meshes.And so I achieved a sculpture that, based on cement, weighs five tons and reaches a height of almost six meters.From the base, five thinner beams rise, which are twisted and marked by fire; they ascend towards the sky tracing arabesques. They are emaciated arms that rise supplicants; it's scream; it is a clamor; they are tongues of fire; it is tragedy.The sculpture appears to be monumental. If it is a work of art, it will emit energy and capture the man who walks nearby.
