I decided to create this pack, I wanted to create a variety of TB-303 patches and this is the result.Rather than adding fx I decided just to focus on as accurate emulation as I could, it goes without saying that capturing every nuance of an analog synth as unique as the TB-303, using a sample based digital synth engine is not really feasible. So given that things like the accent behaviour and filter interactions, built using analogue technology in the TB-303, have no direct equivalents in the Zen core synthesis system I decided to create 8 variations of both square and sawtooth TB-303 style sounds, trying to capture as best as possible most of the tones available on the TB-303 and the various clones I have used.So obviously all 16 patches are fundamentally pretty similar, the differences between each being in things like accent response, knob ranges, and depth of modulation and filter cutoff, resonance, filter envelope amount, filter decay ranges, etc.I spent many hours cross referencing between 3 TB-303s including 1 stock calibrated version and two modded examples, my custom x0xb0x, a Roland TB-03, and Cyclone Analogic TT-303 mk1 and mk2 versions, the idea being to have a nice collection of patches which cover that range.I also decided to include a few drum kits, as well as usage tips to allow users to get the best from the sounds, and knob mappings are included in a blank project as well as 16 patterns in a demo project.Thanks for watching!Apologies for the lack of flashy video production values, I only have iMovie and I’m no Spielberg!

Korg Volca Sample meets Monotribe - First (Kitchen) Jam darenager 2014-12-06 | Got home tonight to find a Volca Sample had arrived, so I recorded a few patterns and synced it up to a Monotribe for a quick jam in the kitchen after dinner, recorded on iPad using Roland UA11 interface, picture is a bit dodgy and the jam isn't perfect, but I hope you enjoy it. Very impressed with the Volca Sample, good fun machine. PS Sorry about the dirty dishes just had my dinner ;)
Monotribe into MS20mini 1 handed Acid darenager 2014-05-14 | Quick and very dirty fun jam, I ran the Monotribe into the MS20mini, using the output from the Monotribe into the ESP to twang the filter, some nice acidic sounds are possible using this serial filter setup. Sorry for the camera work, I filmed it one handed on my phone so no tripod was used, the drum machine mix is a bit iffy at times due to only having a single output,so when I adjusted the distortion I had to quickly adjust the balance of the sounds one handed. Anyway, hope you enjoy it, I think I will explore this set-up some more in the future.
Wobbly Acid House TB-303, TR-606 and Monotribe Computer fails darenager 2014-04-27 | This was supposed to be much a longer jam session, but after a little under 5 minutes the video sound got corrupted, then once the video was rendered each time the video fx change there is a glitch on the sound, finally when trying to upload, that went wrong. Monotrip mods - turn the Monotribe into an acid monster darenager 2013-12-14 | The Monotribe is a great little groovebox, but sometimes a bit more power is needed, these mods address that. Volca Bass and Beats 1st Acid test - See description darenager 2013-10-01 | Quick and dirty first test of the Volca Bass and Beats for acid house, I only use 1 oscillator on the Bass for clarity, and to more closely follow the convention of the TB-303, personally I think the filter in the Monotribe is more acidic than the one in the Volca Bass, which does not seem to have a very "liquid" sounding resonance, still it is a nice machine, and the sequencer is a lot of fun.Please note this is just a demo of the acid capability, the Volca Bass is capable of more than I show in this video, I will be featuring the Volca series in more videos, exploring some other stuff, also I plan on selling mod kits, so keep an eye on my channel, and if you have not already feel free to subscribe. Monotribe CV breakout box first test with modular darenager 2013-03-01 | I made a little breakout box to easily connect the Monotribe to my modular, after setting the CV scaling (see my other video) I tried a little acid session, good fun if a little random/unstructured. The Monotribe CV connector is a 4 pole 3.5mm jack that carries both the CV and the Gate signals, so not really ideal for connecting to other gear, the breakout box solves this, if you can't make your own and want to buy one, send me a message.

Elektron Analog Four - House sounds of Chicago darenager 2012-12-13 | I was messing around with the A4 and stumbled across the arpeggio sound from Frankie Knuckles seminal 1987 track 'Your Love' so here it is, I did not spend a great deal of time getting the other sounds correct, and this is just a basic demo, the original track can be found on youtube, if you are not familiar with it do check it out, it is one of my favourite classic house cuts.
How to make a nice TB-303 square on the Elektron analog Four darenager 2012-12-11 | A quick how-to for making the transistor pulse just like a 303 square wave, I checked these on my oscilloscope and with these settings it looks (and sounds) exactly the same as the square wave on my 303. Of course the A4 is not just about emulating old synths, but it can be fun to do anyway, enjoy.

Elektron Analog Four 2nd test - with Monotribe darenager 2012-12-07 | Second test, this time I tried syncing with the midi equipped Monotribe. The Monotribe is just doing the snare and hihat, the A4 is doing the kick and synth sounds, I tried to give a bit of a demo of the filters in the A4 by adjusting them on the various sounds. Again this is a first day demo so I am not fully au fait with the machine yet.
Elektron AnalogFour first test - Acid, drums, A4 darenager 2012-12-07 | Quick first test demo of the new Elektron Analog4, I wanted to see what it was like for making drum sounds and also some acid, this was done within about 90 minutes of getting it, so by no means a thorough run through. I have not yet tested most of the features so that is why this is just a basic demo. There are more comprehensive demos from guys that have had them a bit longer so check those out for some of the advanced stuff. First impressions are that it is very well suited to making analog drum sounds, as per usual with Elektron gear you can radically change the sound on each step, so with just a couple of tracks you can make some nice drum patterns, I will be exploring this further in a future video, right now I'm back off to play with it :)
Korg Monotribe VCO mod - FM, ringmod, sync type sounds possible darenager 2012-12-04 | New mod for the Monotribe, this one adds a lot of sound making potential, it is still in the prototype stage but hopefully the video will give an idea of the kinds of sounds you can make, from sub osc to FM, ringmod and sync type sounds. Final features may change on kits.The first pot controls pitch, the first switch controls range low/normal/mid, the second pot controls level, and the second switch controls mode1/off/mode2. Great for drones, and weird techno sounds, you can also coax some semi realistic instrument sounds such as bass guitar and trumpet if you want. This is by no means an exhaustive demo, more and better demos will follow later. Korg Monotribe Drum Mods Kit darenager 2012-11-23 | You will need to listen on headphones or half decent speakers to hear properly.A new pre-built mod kit for the Monotribe, this adds 4 switches to change the drum sounds, decay for BD, tone for snare, decay for snare noise, decay for hi hat. The switches have 3 positions, when set to centre the default sounds are heard, when up or down the mod sounds are heard. To install it you need to drill 6 holes and solder 5 wires, the circuit board and switches are pre-built.I also do midi mods for the Monotribe, and I have some other mod kits coming soon so stay tuned.Send me a message if you are interested. Pricing is reasonable but not as cheap as DIY as it has to be worth my while. There are lots of good DIY resources for mods if you google for them.

Teenage Engineering OP-1 timestretching how to darenager 2012-04-11 | A quick tutorial how to timestretch a loop on the OP-1, it is a bit of a hack but works quite well in a lo-fi way, here is how it works, the value LFO is assigned to loop direction, with a fast speed the tempo will change without affecting the pitch, seems to work best with vocals or beats. Enjoy!

Korg Monotribe plug and play Midi in and out interface darenager 2012-01-21 | I made a midi interface for my Monotribe, please watch the video all the way through and read this text for all the information including how to buy and what type of things it can do. This is not intended to be a musical performance so might be a bit boring if you are not interested midi for your Monotribe. This is very simple to fit, just remove the rubber feet, remove the 4 screws holding the base on, plug the interface into the Monotribe pin header, put cable between case and base, put the monotribe back together, about 5 minutes work. I chose to keep the midi sequencing simple, but you are free to create more elaborate patterns when sequencing the Monotribe by Midi input. Midi output does have some limitations, the CC data sent from the Monotribe can be a bit laggy, and when you turn steps off on the synth part of the Monotribe they will still be sent as midi data. However running an external synth into the Monotribe audio input can expand the pallete of sounds considerably, and in this case the turned off steps will not sound as the VCA is shut off. I will point out that people into DIY can build one of these for themselves, all the information was kindly provided by nitro2k01 aka Gameboy Genius on his excellent blog at: blog.gg8.se/wordpress I have tested this with quite a bit of midi hardware including Moog LP, Machinedrum, Monomachine, Dark Energy, MV-8800, RS-7000, EMX, and others, I am aware that some USB midi interfaces may not work due to improper implementation of the Midi spec, so be aware of this. This modification is not endorsed by Korg, and opening your Monotribe will void the warranty, having said this when used in the manner described risk of damage to your Monotribe is extremely unlikely.
