Following an extensive six-year renovation by Ford Motor Company, Michigan Central Station gave the public a first look at the interior restoration of its historic ground floor this week. The Station officially welcomed the community back to share in its historic reopening during Michigan Central OPEN.
Originally designed by architects Warren & Wetmore and Reed & Stem, the same team behind New York’s famed Grand Central, Michigan Central Station first opened its doors in 1913 as one of the country’s most spectacular transportation terminals.
It saw 4,000 daily passengers at its peak, but, following decades of declining rail travel, was shuttered in 1988 and sat vacant for three decades, experiencing severe neglect, weathering, decay and vandalism.
Ford embarked on the preservation project after acquiring the abandoned train station in 2018 to be the centerpiece of Michigan Central, a 30-acre technology and cultural hub in Detroit’s Corktown neighborhood. Michigan Central will bring Ford employees together with external partners, entrepreneurs, students, and even competitors, to co-create new products, services, and technologies that add value to a new generation of Ford customers and help build a better world.
While Ford’s investment is crucial to the company’s long-term planning, it also represents a commitment to the city of Detroit and its future, with The Station becoming a beacon of development and opportunity.
Ford Executive Chair Bill Ford: "Michigan Central means a great deal to us all. In many ways, this building tells the story of our city. This Station was our Ellis Island – a place where dreamers in search of new jobs and new opportunities first set foot in Detroit. But once the last train pulled out, it became a place where hope left.
"In 2018, I decided it was time to change that by reimagining this station as a place of possibility again. Over the past six years, Ford Motor Company and teams of forward thinkers, designers, community leaders, and more than 3,000 skilled tradespeople have worked to bring this landmark back to life.”
Ford and Michigan Central assembled a dream team to breathe new life into the stunning Beaux-Arts building – from its classical façade to its ornate interiors, including the Grand Hall with its 54-foot Guastavino tile vaulted ceiling, to the arcade, ticket lobby, and restaurant.
Since renovations began in late 2018, more than 1.7 million hours have been spent meticulously returning The Station to its original architectural grandeur, while retrofitting it with modern technology and infrastructure to support its next chapter.
Ford is among the building’s first tenants, and will move employees from its Ford Model e and Ford Integrated Services teams into newly renovated office space across three floors in The Station starting later this year.
Ford will also have collaboration space in The Station for other Southeast Michigan-based employees to use. Some 1,000 Ford employees will work across the Michigan Central district by the end of the year, with a goal of 2,500 by 2028.
Alongside Ford, The Station will play a critical role in attracting other visionary companies to Detroit, and accommodating them within the 30-acre Michigan Central district.
The innovation hub will provide 640,000 square feet of cultural, technology, community, and convening spaces designed to inspire creative collaboration between established companies, universities, growing startups, youth initiatives, students, and other stakeholders.
The Station joins Newlab at Michigan Central, which, in just over a year since its launch, has grown into a diverse community of more than 600 employees from nearly 100 companies and startups, over half of whom have at least one founder from an underrepresented background.

The Audi e-tron GT quattro has been the electric and sporty top model in Audi’s product portfolio since its premiere in 2021. The four-door Gran Turismo combines evocative design with a powerful drive system and dynamic handling. The new versions significantly improve the sporty vehicle's range, performance, charging, and handling. With the RS e-tron GT performance, Audi is debuting its first fully electric RS performance model. The new models in the Audi e-tron GT family are available to order now.
‘With the e-tron GT models, we are setting new standards in performance. The increased charging power and electric all-wheel drive ensure improved long-distance capability and considerably more performance’, says Gernot Döllner, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG.
The new variants of the e-tron GT series combine a progressive design with innovative technology, each having a distinctive look. For example, the new Audi S e-tron GT stands for elegant sportiness. Its front end is homogeneous and expressive at the same time. A black mask encircles the fully closed, inverted Singleframe, which reflects the specific design language of the e-tron models. Embossed structures lend the grille a precise three dimensionality.
A strip of body color paint above the Singleframe gives the Gran Turismo an even sportier and visually deeper look. The air curtains, which ensure optimized airflow around the front wheel in the front apron, are more strongly shaped. An elegantly designed aerodynamic diffuser with vertical fins dominates the rear end. A body color inlay above the rear diffuser adds even more visual texture and acts as a link between the diffuser and rear bumper.
The new Audi RS e-tron GT is now sportier as well. Its front end alone features a much more radical look. The inverted Singleframe comes in the RS typical 3D honeycomb structure. The apron framing the black mask visually opens the RS e-tron downwards. The vehicle appears lower, seeming to hug the street in combination with the functional L shaped blades.
The rear end of the RS e-tron GT borrows elements from motorsports. The streamlined diffuser echoes the theme of three-dimensional efficiency elements in the front, such as the L shaped blades, in the rear of the vehicle. The blades come as standard in body color for a sporty look. Another detail from racing is a vertical, red reflector sitting between the aero channels.
The Audi RS e-tron GT performance is the first fully electric RS performance model. It features unique design elements and stands out from the RS e-tron GT with an optional matte, darkened carbon roof in combination with optional carbon camouflage elements. These elements are a first from Audi and are intended exclusively for the RS performance. The carbon camouflage is used in the embossed bumper structures, the door trim, parts of the diffuser, and the side mirrors.
The new corporate identity (CI) also contributes to the exterior upgrade for the e-tron GT family. The four rings now come in a premium-quality, two-dimensional design positioned between the radiator grille and the front apron. The range of colors features nine exterior finishes. In addition to solid Arkona White, it includes the metallic or pearl effect colors Ascari Blue, Daytona Gray, Florett Silver, Kemora Gray, Mythos Black, and Progressive Red. Nimbus Gray is available as an exclusive finish for the RS e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT performance, while the new color Bedford Green is on offer for the RS e-tron GT performance.
An optional Black Optics package is also available to order. It includes dark Audi rings in the front and rear, air intakes, the wing mirror housings, and diffuser element (S e-tron GT). The RS-models come with dark Audi rings as standard. In the Black Optics Package, the L-shaped blades in the bumper and the aero channels in the diffuser are finished in high-gloss black. Matching exterior mirror housings are available as an option.
Audi has also reworked the wheel range. New 20 inch multi-spoke wheels are available for the S e-tron GT and RS models, among else.

Ford Performance returns to America’s mountain once again in an all-new electric demonstrator vehicle – the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. The initiative follows and aims to build upon the success of capturing multiple records at the 2023 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with SuperVan 4.2.
Designed in conjunction with Ford Design and STARD Advanced Research and Development to excel in the extreme conditions of Pikes Peak, this truck showcases advanced aerodynamics, generating 6,000 pounds of downforce at 150 mph, and features optimised electric motors for peak performance.
For the 102nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill climb, SuperTruck’s powertrain will consist of three STARD UHP 6-Phase Motors and Ultra-High Performance Li-Polymer NMC cells, generating 1400-plus horsepower output.
The F-150 Lightning EV demonstrator is designed with a triple-element front wing, headlight ducts, hood ducts and louvers, front dive-planes, side diffusers, rear diffuser, and multi-element rear wing to maximize aerodynamics. It also features carbon ceramic brakes, Pirelli P-Zero tires on magnesium forged wheels, and a fully custom in-board suspension system.
Piloting the SuperTruck will be Romain Dumas, a veteran of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and current overall record holder, marking his ninth appearance and second with Ford Performance. Dumas’s expertise and experience make him the ideal candidate to pilot this special vehicle.
“After a successful 2023 climb, I’m thrilled to be behind the wheel again with this team and to help push the limits of what an electric vehicle can achieve on the turns of this legendary course,” said Dumas. ”In testing, the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck has surpassed my expectations, so we are hoping for some good weather to try and do something very special.”
Continuing the partnership started with SuperVan 4.0, STARD is integral in the development and construction of SuperTruck’s powertrain design and controls.
“To make the best vehicles for our customers, our research takes us racing in the harshest and most challenging conditions – the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck is the latest example of that,” said Mark Rushbrook, Global Director of Ford Performance. “Our pursuit to the top of the mountain is charged by the commitment to make all our electric vehicles more capable, more advanced, and more exciting.”
Since 1916, Ford vehicles have been conquering Pikes Peak, starting with a Model T that completed the climb to the 14,115 ft summit in 28 minutes 03 seconds. This year, Ford aims to surpass its own 2023 record set by the SuperVan 4.2, which completed the run in 8 minutes 47.682 seconds.
The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is set to take place June 23.

Designed in Italy at the Centro Stile in Turin, the Fiat Grande Panda stands out from the other B-segment vehicles for its unique compactness at just 3.99 meters long — below the 4.06 m segment average — and features clean lines and well-organized roominess thanks to its compact volume. The new FIAT model can carry five people and is perfect for comfortable family living and contemporary urban mobility. To convey strength and uniqueness, the volume appears robust and structured. The wedge-shaped and dynamic design of the body is generated by its pronounced profile lines.
The new Fiat Grande Panda comes with a special exterior look with a subtle combination of structured lines and soft and bold surfaces that emphasize the robust wheel arches. In addition, the new Fiat Grande Panda’s “Italianness” becomes immediately apparent through its iconic and ironic Italian design which is synonymous with beauty. The compact family mover comes with bright body colors, one of which will be yellow.
The front features a compact volume with a distinctive new personality. Precise orthogonal lines envelop a progressive square mesh arrangement that creates a strong, sleek look, generating punctuation of pixels from the center of the glossy black upper grille to the headlights. The presence of a skid plate in the lower central part of the bumper contributes to emphasizing a UV attitude, while the headlamps, made up of opal cubes, reflect the windows on the façades of the Lingotto factory. Moreover, alongside the unique light signature, the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) turn into indicators and illuminate some of the cubes which appear as horizontal pixels arranged in a chessboard pattern.
On the sides, the Fiat Grande Panda’s silhouette calls back to the strength of the Panda from the 80s, with its undisputable, self-confident allure provided by the dynamic passenger compartment and greenhouse.
The wedge-shaped attitude of the bodywork and cabin is well-defined and enhanced even more by the sloping roof racks, which move from the top towards the rear end.
In homage to the classic Panda 4x4, the Panda letters are surprising: printed with three-dimensional bas-relief on the doors, they reflect the surrounding environment and animate the lower part of the side.
Furthermore, the unmistakable inclination of the angular ratio with the vertical volume of the rear is reproduced by the robust “C” pillar. To generate a lenticular effect, a black square badge is connected to the graphics of the greenhouse, creating a striking effect in which the four FIAT letters turn into four bars that walk around the vehicle.
The rear features a bold character as well thanks to its prominent wheel arches, the inclination of the windows, the overall layout of the rear window, headlights, and skids which confer the Fiat Grande Panda with a protective and stable appearance and robust ground solidity. The volume is increased thanks to the integration of a glossy black bezel with the three-dimensional letters of Panda—a design homage to the original Panda. The 80s theme combined with a futuristic style is complete with 17" diamond-cut alloy wheels stylized in an X design.

The new Rivian R1S SUV and Rivian R1T pickup have been completely reengineered through hundreds of hardware improvements, performance upgrades, a fully redesigned software experience, and evolved in-house drive systems. Maintaining Rivian’s iconic exterior design, this second generation brings efficiency with a zonal electrical architecture and introduces a step change with entirely new compute and autonomy platforms. These vehicles also offer new motor configurations, design elements, and trim and tire choices for customers.
Performance for Every Adventure
The new R1 platform offers more power, performance, and range, thanks to a Rivian-designed and built drive unit offered in Tri-Motor and Quad-Motor configurations. The 1,025 horsepower Quad-Motor R1T delivers 0-60 mph in less than 2.5 seconds and a staggering 1,198lb ft of torque when using Launch Mode. A Rivian-built Dual-Motor is available as well. These motors are now designed, engineered, and manufactured fully in-house.
New Large and Max battery packs have redesigned modules and more efficient packaging, making them easier to manufacture and service, while offering up to an estimated 420 miles of range. Customers looking to maximize value can opt for a new lithium iron phosphate-based Standard pack with up to an EPA-estimated 270 miles of range.
To further optimize efficiency, this next generation platform introduces a redesigned heat pump-based thermal system, improving rider temperature comfort and saving range. New 22-inch aero wheels and tires also reduce drag, with a coefficient as low as 0.297, optimizing range to take adventures further. Our second generation R1 vehicles feature an entirely new electrical architecture and compute platform which reduces 17 ECUs found in first generation vehicles down to 7, maximizing efficiency and allowing for the removal of 1.6 miles (2.6km) of wiring from each vehicle.
A new in-house developed autonomy system, called Rivian Autonomy Platform, offers a significant leap forward in capability. It is powered by 11 cameras, five radars, and AI prediction technology. The system is backed by an industry-leading level of compute power. Our Autonomy Compute Module is 10 times more powerful than our previous system. With 360-degree visibility, 8 times the number of camera megapixels from previous vehicles, and redundant sensors, the system can see far into the distance, even in poor weather and light conditions. It is available on all vehicles as standard, including features like high-resolution camera Blind Spot Monitoring and Highway Assist. A premium version of the system, Rivian Autonomy Platform+, features an even broader set of capabilities. Lane Change on Command is available to start, with Enhanced Highway Assist available later this year, and expanded road coverage to follow.
New headlights and taillights are designed with the safety of everyone on the road in mind. These headlights feature Adaptive Drive Beam technology which will be enabled later this year, helping drivers stay more aware while driving on dark roads by adapting dynamically to oncoming traffic.

On Saturday, Opel celebrated 125 years of automobile manufacturing under the motto “Forever forward since 1899” and invited the public to the open day in Rüsselsheim. Thousands of Opel fans from near and far took the opportunity to delve deep into the history of the brand with the Blitz and, above all, to gain an insight into how Opel has positioned itself for the electrified automotive future and wants to shape it sustainably. In addition, many visitors used the day to look “behind the scenes” of automobile production.
Opel CEO Florian Huettl was able to welcome German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the Prime Minister of the State of Hesse Boris Rhein as well as Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares Stellantis Chairman John Elkann and Xavier Chéreau, Stellantis Chief Human Resources & Transformation Officer and Opel Supervisory Board Chairman, as guests of honour at the Opel headquarters in the morning.
During the official ceremony, Chancellor Scholz and Prime Minister Rhein emphasised how important the success of the automotive industry is for Germany and, in congratulating them on Opel's anniversary, underlined the great importance of Opel's electrification strategy for the future. On this occasion Xavier Chéreau also presented the plans for the “grEEn-campus” project, the new global Opel headquarters and future Stellantis Germany headquarters, which will make a decisive contribution to reducing the carbon footprint of the Rüsselsheim location.
In keeping with the motto “Forever forward since 1899,” more than 7,000 visitors who travelled to Rüsselsheim were able to experience first-hand how Opel combines automotive tradition with a sustainable future. The manufacturer showed an anniversary exhibition with automotive milestones. To mark its 60th anniversary, the Opel Design Center also opened its doors – with pioneering studies and concept cars from the brand's history. And the new Opel Grandland and the new Opel Frontera made their public debut. Torsus, manufacturer of the world’s toughest, most-capable heavy-duty off-road buses, has unveiled the next generation of their flagship bus, Praetorian. A raft of more than 50 all-new technical updates and options for 2024 amp up the Praetorian’s class-leading ability to travel where others dare not tread, take on the toughest jobs, and safely transport up to 35 occupants comfortably across any terrain, in any conditions, anywhere in the world.
The Torsus Praetorian takes its name, and its indomitable character, from the legendary Praetorian Guard. An elite regiment of the Imperial Roman Army formed in 509 BC; the Praetorian Guard was essentially the world’s first special forces unit. Members were highly skilled veterans, hand-picked from the best army in the world for their superior fitness, unmatched combat prowess, and ability to keep a cool head in the heat of battle. Wherever the toughest and most important tasks were set – protecting the emperor, gathering intelligence, operating far behind enemy lines – only a Praetorian would suffice.
Torsus designed and developed the Praetorian 4x4 off-road bus to match to the ethos of Rome’s most famed and most feared regiment. Whatever the weather, whatever the terrain – mountain, desert, forest – and whatever the application – mining, rescue, defence – the Torsus Praetorian is engineered to operate at the tip of the spear, and to get the mission done, no matter how impossible. The electric Ford Explorer is the first vehicle to roll off the line at the Ford Cologne Electric Vehicle Center – a significant step on the road to producing a new generation of high-quality electric passenger vehicles for the region. A second EV, a new sports crossover, will be revealed shortly with production in Cologne starting later this year.
The new all-electric Explorer combines German engineering, American attitude and superior standard specification that includes battery electric powertrains for zero-tailpipe emissions while driving – and more than 600 km driving range on a single charge.
“To see the Cologne factory founded by Ford in 1930 being transformed into a state-of-the-art electric vehicle production facility is nothing short of amazing. The start of mass production of electric vehicles, with the new all-electric Explorer, marks the beginning of a new era for Ford in Europe,” said Kieran Cahill, vice president, Manufacturing, Ford in Europe and International Markets Group.
The factory of the future
The Cologne Electric Vehicle Center is equipped with cutting-edge AI and a symphony of hundreds of carefully choreographed state-of-the-art robots that will deliver a new generation of high quality EVs to Ford customers in Europe. The plant’s “digital twin” monitors and supports production line operators to deliver high quality standards.
The Cologne Electric Vehicle Center is supported by self-learning machines and more than 600 new robots that execute welding, cutting, dusting, painting and fusing tasks, in a complex ballet to ensure precision, efficiency and quality.
A new control centre monitors the entire assembly process in real time – right down to the quantity of every part and nut at each workstation. The plant’s “digital twin” is displayed via a giant touchscreen containing all workstations with information on tooling, material delivery, work safety and more. With small touchscreens employees on the line provide further information on the status of their workplace.
“By monitoring and controlling every step of the manufacturing process, Ford will achieve unprecedented levels of quality for our customers,” said Rene Wolf, managing director, Manufacturing, Ford-Werke GmbH.
More sustainable production
The Cologne Electric Vehicle Center is one of Ford’s most efficient vehicle assembly plants globally, supported by significant reductions in emissions, water usage and energy consumption.
Ford is working towards implementing a carbon neutrality pathway for the Cologne Electric Vehicle Center. With production now underway, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data will be monitored and recorded for independent certification according to the latest international standards. Within this carbon neutrality pathway, Ford will continuously improve carbon efficiency and reduce GHG emissions towards a residual level.
In addition to initiatives that reduce emissions, water usage and energy consumption, all electricity and natural gas required to operate the plant is 100 per cent certified renewable electricity and biomethane. Ford Motor Company is targeting carbon neutrality across its European production footprint of facilities, logistics and direct suppliers by 2035.

At the end of the two days of competition, the one to receive the applause in the heart of Lecce, "La Signora del Barocco" decorated and lit up to celebrate the arrival of her rally, was an extraordinary Sebastian Dallapiccola, one of the talents competing in the single-make series Japanese who with Fabio Andrian at the notes put in a very solid performance on the asphalt. The young under25, certainly not discovered today, started off strong from the show test inside the Salentina track but then surpassed himself during Saturday on the repeats of "Torre Paduli", "Ciolo" and "Specchia", taking advantage of the misfortunes that befell his opponents. On his first time in Salento the Trentino rider did not hold back, taking calculated risks and attacking from start to finish: with this second consecutive victory in the Suzuki Rally Cup Dallapiccola now extends his lead in the overall standings to 79 points and begins to think about defending the primacy.
Behind him, very unlucky after their Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid caught a branch at the end of the race which detached the battery switch, Giorgio Fichera navigated for the occasion by Alessandro Manco. The expert driver immediately started strong on Friday in the show test and battled for a long time with Dallapiccola, remaining in the lead before technical problems forced him to settle for an excellent second place. The senator of the trophy Roberto Pellè, an experienced Trentino driver with the notes of Luca Franceschini, is still tormented by overheating problems. The protagonist of the trophy was only able to defend his position in the standings at times, despite everything achieving a 3rd place which keeps him at the top of the overall ranking just behind Dallapiccola.
At the foot of the podium by less than 10" finished Davide Bertini, flanked by Luca Vignolo. The driver from Savona can thus return satisfied from the trip to the "Tacco d'Italia", after the zero at Ciocco and after not having participated in the second round in Alba. Also unlucky was Alessandro Forneris, one of the tremendous youngsters in the Suzuki Rally Cup navigated by Mattia Rodighiero, who just like Fichera hit a branch that took away his battery switch.
Jean Claude Vallino's second success then arrived in the Racing Start classification, led by Sandro Sanesi, unreachable for his opponents with the Suzuki Baleno and with a margin at the finish of over 1'. The under-25 dominated the entire race, a fact which together with Dallapiccola's victory demonstrates how the Suzuki Rally Cup is a perfect trophy for young drivers looking for experience, which allows them to reach national prominence on the most selective roads in Italy. With this result, Vallino consolidates its position at the top of the category. Second with a Boosterjet was Lorenzo Olivieri paired with Luca Viotti, with a performance that also took advantage of Varesco's absence and brought them back to second place in the standings. In eighth place overall was the crew composed of Samuele Santero and Mattea Modenini, while in 9th and 3rd third among the Racing Starts was that of the Vitali family, Stefano and Maurizio, who after the two intense and hot days of racing crossed the finish line at 2'16. Finally, the top 10 of the Suzuki Rally Cup is closed by the returning gentleman driver Marco Soliani, paired with Massimo Polizzi, followed by Silvia Franchini and Francesco Fois.

The race gets underway with a world premiere. Germany’s largest motorsport event has already provided its first memorable moment: on Friday, as part of the legendary Nürburgring 24 Hours, the new Golf GTI Clubsport was presented to numerous fans. The sporty, optimised version of the classic model stands out thanks to its sharper exterior design, an enhanced interior, impressive performance data and high-end sports suspension.
A fitting way to make its debut. The new Golf GTI Clubsport was unveiled on the Ring Boulevard at the legendary race track in the Eifel region in front of an enthusiastic crowd of motorsport fans. They were the first to get a look at the new enhanced model which, with its completely redesigned front end, now looks even more powerful and distinctive. The standard LED Plus headlights have been revamped. For the first time, the vehicle also features the illuminated VW logo at the front. A large roof spoiler at the rear ensures maximum downforce. The LED tail light clusters have also been redesigned.
Designed for performance inside and out. The 19-inch Queenstown alloy wheels are also new. With their striking design of five oval semi-circles, they evoke the classic Detroit wheel, which was introduced for the fifth-generation Golf GTI. As a further option, the Golf GTI Clubsport can now be configured with the new 19-inch Warmenau forged wheel. With a weight of only eight kilograms per wheel rim, the forged wheels reduce the unsprung masses and thus optimise performance. The Golf GTI Clubsport’s various functions and systems are coordinated using a newly developed multifunction leather sports steering wheel and a new infotainment system. It is intuitive and makes it possible for the driver to concentrate even better on the road ahead. The new top-of-the-range GTI model also features the new IDA voice assistant with ChatGPT integration.
Impressive performance. The new Golf GTI Clubsport is as impressive inside as out: the GTI turbocharged engine (EA888 LK3 evo4) delivers a torque of 400 Nm and an output of 221 kW (300 PS), which are brought to the road via an electronically controlled front differential lock. The DCC adaptive chassis control is available as optional equipment.
Another highlight of the Golf GTI Clubsport is the exclusive Special driving profile. This matches systems relevant for driving dynamics to the special track characteristics of the Nürburgring – in order to compensate for the undulations typical of the Nordschleife, maximum performance is achieved by means of a specific vertical setup of the DCC adaptive chassis control and a modified lateral dynamics setup of the standard Vehicle Dynamics Manager. The Golf GTI Clubsport accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds; the top speed of this most powerful of GTIs is electronically limited to 250 km/h. However, this limit can be lifted with the Race package – which raises the top speed to 267 km/h.
A racing weekend with the Golf taking centre stage. The world premiere of the Golf GTI Clubsport marked the start of the 24-hour race, in which the 50th anniversary of the Golf is the focal point for Volkswagen: The Max Kruse Racing team with drivers Benny Leuchter, Johan Kristoffersson, Nico Otto and Heiko Hammel are taking part in the much-loved event with a 256 kW (348 PS) Golf GTI Clubsport 24h03. Fans will also be able to see three classic first-generation Golf GTIs at the 24h Classic, which takes place in the run-up to the main race. All three vehicles – a Golf GTI 16S Oettinger from 1981, a 78-series Golf GTI Kamei and an 80-series Golf GTI in GTI camouflage design with a “50 years of Golf” logo – are used by the KWL Motorsport team.

DS 7 VAUBAN has been designed as a specially protected car based on the production DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 300 with a length of 4.59 metres. Aramids, a class of lightweight materials that are especially resistant to impacts and heat, HPPE (High Performance Polyethylene) fibres, armoured steel and safety glass strengthen the vehicle for a VPAM 4 protection level (protection against handguns). Designed for maximum efficiency, both in terms of safety and First-Class comfort, this conversion makes very little difference in terms of handling with only 164 kg of additional weight.
DS 7 VAUBAN’s braking distances are equivalent to those of DS 7 E-TENSE 4x4 300 and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is only 0.2 seconds more, going from 5.9 to 6.1 seconds. Handling retains the same qualities with the camera-controlled DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION damping, while the 10.45 m turning circle, a benchmark in the premium SUV segment, is also maintained.
The technical decisions taken for DS 7 VAUBAN make it a unique offering dedicated to the French Art of Travel. In addition to handling comparable to a standard DS 7, the driver only needs a regular licence, unlike most competing models which require a heavy goods vehicle licence and special training. Prices are also very competitive, starting at 165,000 euros, and maintenance classified as “intensive use” as with a standard DS 7 is simply carried out within a selected certified network among DS STORES.
The transformation of the interior is overseen by upholsterers, to ensure an exemplary level of refinement. Vauban interior embossing and the addition of special controls are the only details that differentiate DS 7 VAUBAN. In addition to the extra equipment available in the brochure, packs of options are available on request, both for protection (automatic fire extinguishers, closed-circuit ventilation, siren or intercom etc...), for passenger comfort (additional USB sockets, reading lights etc...) and vehicle personalisation (body colours, interior trim, embroidery, flag holders etc...).
The result of a new collaboration between the WELP Group and DS Automobiles, DS 7 VAUBAN is built entirely in France, assembled at the Mulhouse site then converted by WELP France in Hérimoncourt, after the takeover of part of a former Stellantis site.
DS 7 VAUBAN takes its name from the fortifications built at the end of the 17th century. The Fortifications of Vauban – numbering twelve across ten different departments (counties) – are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In total, the Marquis Sébastien Le Prestre de Vauban oversaw more than a hundred fortifications – forts that are part of cities, standalone or in compounds – in France and Europe. In Asia and Africa, several citadels and fortresses adopted the system established by Vauban.
The first DS 7 VAUBAN has been made. Homologation is scheduled for June and sales will follow.

New chassis tuning further enhances the balance between sporting potency and comfort. And when it comes to digitalisation in the new BMW 3 Series Sedan and new BMW 3 Series Touring, BMW Operating System 8.5 provides the basis for extremely intuitive and comfortable operation – via the upgraded BMW iDrive with QuickSelect – and for extended navigation functions including Augmented View.
These new technological advances are accompanied by precise design modifications for the exterior and interior. New exterior paint finishes and light-alloy wheels accentuate the aura of sporting elegance radiated by the Sedan and Touring. In the interior, the newly designed steering wheels and instrument panel, plus sophisticated equipment features such as the CraftedClarity glass applications, deliver driving pleasure in an ambience of premium modernity.
The new BMW 3 Series Sedan and new BMW 3 Series Touring will be launched worldwide with a production phase-in in July 2024. Both models will be built at BMW Group Plant Munich. The BMW 3 Series Sedan will also be produced at BMW Group Plant San Luis Potosí in Mexico. The new BMW 3 Series Sedan for the Chinese market will be produced at the Tiexi plant in Shenyang operated by the joint venture BMW Brilliance Automotive (BBA).
