Here I am using a predominately AJH Synth Eurorack system: Two LFOs are used. One is serving as the clock and is also feeding into a CV mixer. The second slower LFO is also feeding into the CV mixer along with a random CV source clocked by the first LFO. Ornament and Crime is providing quantisation. Three Minimod oscillators are used as sound sources along with an Endorphin.es drum module triggered by a clock divider fed by the first LFO.

This collab between HER(indoors) and Wirebaby focuses on the bonkers attribute of the challenge :-) Concept and lyrics by HER(indoors) and music by Wirebaby. Plinky+ vs DIY Lyra-8 Wirebaby 2026-04-24 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make a jam only using two sound-making devices (“boxes”) along with any bits and bobs to control, process or record them. The twist is that the two sources need to be making sounds that are opposite to each other, but in such a way that they turn out to be nicely complementary somehow. Here I am using the Inky-8 (a DIY Lyra-8) and a Plinky+ which provide unrefined and refined sounds respectively. The Inky-8 is processed through a Soma Cosmos and on board effects are used on the Plinky+. Recorded on the 1010 Music BlueBox.
Detuned for Spring Wirebaby 2026-04-18 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is a Spring jam that includes an element of microtonality and/or detuning. Here I detuned the Strymon SuperKar+ to give close to quarter notes and processed drums through a Sherman Filter Bank. Eurorack jam sequenced with Squarp Hapax was recorded using 1010 MusicEurorack Bluebox.
Uber Polyfondue Wirebaby 2026-04-11 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to experiment with Polyrhythms, and/or polymeter - BUT MAKE IT CHEESY! Here I have used a major scale and corny melodies as well as experimenting with triplets, glitchy drums using the Kirbinator in the Disting NT and in a few bars a 15/16 polymeter. The results are not so pleasant :-(Eurorack jam sequenced with Squarp Hapax was recorded using 1010 MusicEurorack Bluebox. Synth Not Found Wirebaby 2026-04-03 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make a jam with a significant element missing. To celebrate 404 day it is further suggested that the challenge uses nothing but a sampler. Here I have made a modular jam without a synth voice using just two modules: The Expert Sleepers Disting NT as sequencer, sample player and reverb and Pamela's Pro Workout as the clock source. Control of some of the Disting NT parameters was achieved using the Faderfox UC4 and the jam was recorded on the 1010Music Bluebox. Photos and video are from a recent trip to Milan.
Surfing Sine Waves (with the Music Thing Modular Workshop System) Wirebaby 2026-03-21 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make a jam for which the sound sources MUST be sine waves/sinewave based. The only sound sources used in this jam are the two sine wave oscillators of the Music Thing Modular Workshop System. One is distorted with a Rat pedal and the other is going through a Joranalogue Wavefolder. The MTMWS oscillators are sequenced by the Turing Machine algorithm. I am also using a companion case, in the same format as the MTMWS, which houses Centrevillage clock, Frequency Central dual VCA, Make Noise Maths, Big T Music Ornament and Crime, Nekyia dual LPG and Joranalogue wavefolder modules. It was recorded using the 1010 BlueBox which provided reverb and delay.

Rite of Spring Part 2 Le Sacrifice Wirebaby 2026-03-07 | This weekend's HWJ Challenge is to make a jam celebrating the coming of Springtime, with all the promise that brings (even the odd Stravinsky reference if you can sneak one in) or make a “celebration of Rebirth” jam. Two Blue Fish Wirebaby 2026-02-21 | This weekend HWJ have set the challenge of including spoken word into a jam. Here I used the Nyström Crum Hum fed through the Soma Cosmos together with samples of spoken words played back on the Squarp Rample triggered by ALM Busy Circuit Pamela's New Workout and recorded on 1010 Music Bluebox. The samples are a random selection of the Harvard speech corpus of phonetically-balanced sentences recorded in 2018 at the University of Salford (salford.figshare.com/articles/media/Speech_corpus_-_Harvard_-_raw_audio/7862666?file=14640254). The Harvard Sentences is a collection of 720 sample phrases used for testing the intelligibility of systems for reproducing human speech (e.g. VOIP, cellular etc).

Two Sound Sources Wirebaby 2025-12-21 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make jam using only two sound-making boxes. Here I am using two sound sources (Verbos harmonic oscillator module and Knobula Kickain kick drum module). Inspired by a recent Dots video (youtu.be/dCln51xFr30?si=CCWTQO-cg-yWw3jS) I used two sequencers a clock divider, a voltage adder and quantiser as the basis for sequencing the Harmonic Oscillator.
The Hybrid Photon Mystery Wirebaby 2025-12-12 | This weekend's HWJ challenge is to use a mysterious audio file provided by Grace Griffin. This ambient piece was realised with a M8 Headless running on a TrimUI Brick Hammer with the Teensy 4.1 accommodated in a 3D printed back pack designed by Metro Grade Goods. All the percussion sounds are from the Griffin file and appear part way through the piece.
The Upside Down Wirebaby 2025-12-06 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make a Stranger Jam inspired by the Upside Down. Having never watched an episode of Stranger Things I had to consult with family members who are currently binge watching the series. I have no idea if this fits the brief. Here I am using a pair of Omnitone Melodi modules to sequence various AJH Synth modules with a Grids clone triggering the Weston Audio AD110 drum module.

Ambient Patching in Five Minutes (with the Music Thing Modular Workshop System) Wirebaby 2025-08-08 | The prompt for this weekend's HWJ challenge is to make a jam from scratch in five minutes. This jam features the Music Thing Modular Workshop System, which I assembled last weekend and a delay pedal. It was recorded using the 1010 BlueBox and an iPhone. The MTMWS is running the Turing Machine algorithm. Whilst the HWJ instructions are not to do any preparation I did try to tune the oscillators and connected up the delay pedal (incorrectly) and the Bluebox beforehand. I confess that I also had a couple of aborted attempts before completing the jam 🙂.
