As a kid, I used to spend quite some time listening to game music through my gameboy (the very first grey one). I'm now a sucker for basic waveforms (man, DAT SQUARE!).I wanted to keep the workflow clean through a simple setup. I used a Moog Sub Phatty, a Strymon BigSky and Logic's UltraBeat, nothing more. I created a few chiptuney presets and mixed them with some more modern sounds. I then wrote down some midi tracks, tweaked some knobs, and voilà!It was really pleasant to make this, and I feel like I could do a whole album just with this setup.

Instead of the classic index/middle finger, I use thumb/middle finger. It's far from perfect yet, but I love the sloppy sound it gets from the guitar, and Nyan Cat is a perfect practice theme.I'm recording with a brand new SE 2200a II, and I haven't taken the time to work on the mic placement yet.
