• Short circuits that cause thermal runaway
• Thermal lensing that alters laser beam quality
Here’s how to keep the machine clean:
• Extraction localized close to the welding process
• Regular cleaning of clamping tools
• Air blowers to redirect dust and fumes

This system must meet the following requirement:
• X-Y-Z measurements to validate 3D positions
• Speed that matches required cycle time
• High resolution to meet welding position tolerances
• Uniform lighting to identify each module element
• Large field of view to measure all cell positions
• Ability to validate module integrity

• Changes in cell and busbar positioning
• Changes in battery module design
• Different modules assembled with the same solution
Without these adaptations, there will be quality problems or production will be slowed down by clamping adjustments. There are two general approaches to clamping for battery welding:
• Dynamic clamping
• Clamping plates
Static clamping plates limit the space available for the clamping apparatus while dynamic clamping tools can be larger than the cells being welded. This allows additional components to be attached to the fixture to more easily accommodate cell-to-cell variations.
By using robots, additional space is available for:
• A fume extraction nozzle mounted on the robot arms
• An air blower to redirect contaminants
• A shielding gas supplied directly to the welding zone

- Improved adhesion strength by increasing the surface area for the adhesive to bond with, leading to a stronger mechanical interlock between the surfaces, maintaining the integrity of the cooling system under thermal cycling and mechanical stresses.
- Enhance thermal conductivity by generating a better bond between the cooling plates and the adhesive, which can improve thermal transfer efficiency.
- Increase durability and reliability by ensuring a more robust connection between the cooling plates and the battery modules. Laser texturing can help mitigate the risks of overheating and thermal runaway, enhancing the safety of the system.

*LASER ENCLOSURE*
The laser enclosure is a standard Laserax product that provides complete laser safety (class-1 certified). It is custom-sized based on the billet's diameter. The roller conveyor line feeds the billets into the enclosure, and the billet stops in front of the laser head.
*POSITIONING TOLERANCE*
The laser system's configuration offers ±3mm of tolerance for positioning variations, which is enough to work with the conveyor's imprecision when positioning billets.
*MARKING SPEED*
The laser marking process only takes 9.4 seconds. Marked identifiers include the company logo, a data matrix code, and three lines of alphanumeric characters on the billet's flat surface. This marking speed is the fastest in the industry for a 100W laser.
*INDUSTRIAL GRADE*
The laser equipment is industrial grade to maintain good operation even if there's dust and oil particles in the air. The laser head is IP-65 and machined from a solid block of aluminum. An air knife is also intalled on the laser's lens to provide lens protection and prevent dust accumulation, thus limiting maintenance.
*CONTRAST*
The laser marking process provides high contrast for the identifiers to ensure good readability with the barcode readers.

In this video, the e-coat is removed from assembly areas areas on seat brackets. To process all areas, a rotary indexer is used to rotate seat brackets during cleaning.
Selective paint stripping offers a range of advantages:
✅ Masking is no longer needed before coating
✅ Surfaces are cleaned with consistency, precision and speed
✅ The metal surface is not damaged
✅ It is possible to clean angled and complex shapes
✅ Manual labor costs are diminished
✅ Cleaning quality can be validated automatically

Laser stripping is used to remove the insulating coating from the areas on the edge of the hairpins, which is where the hairpin will be welded to another hairpin in the stator assembly. The laser is carefully calibrated to vaporize the insulation without damaging the copper wire underneath. This leaves the bare wire exposed and ensures that the coating does not penetrate and contaminate the welds during welding.
