The story is easy, and maybe unoriginal, but I'll try to explain you anyway: Erik sought for his family, and when he finally goes to Baron Strucker's laboratory, he saves the twins. Wanda approaches to his father quickly, but Pietro is still doubtful and suspicious (and a little bit jealous of his sister, but shhh!)
In a second time however he saves his father from prison, and at the end (when Wanda and Pietro decides to choose Magneto against Ultron) he saves him another time acting as shield with his body and............die #cries.
