The Tiny Majority
Saya Gray - PUDDLE ( OF ME ) (Lyrics)

Their music is a mashup of every groovy genre. And they like to call it ‘deep-hop’. “I describe it with a catchphrase like ’90s synthpop, slightly deep-hop! But it’s basically disco, emotional, made for dancing,” says Charles de Boisseguin, founder of the five-member band.
The band uses analog gear for performances. And that’s what makes them different from others. “Today, everyone sounds the same with plugins and laptop and cheap imitations of analog synths. I want to have my own sound with instruments I can touch,” he adds.
Their second EP is Sonate Pacifique. “The colour of Sonate Pacifique is quite different, more orchestrated, epic, less funky.” There will be four tracks, with four different styles. The first one sounds like a typical sound track from a French late 70’s movie. Second one reminds one of a disco number during the ’90s. The two other songs are properly French disco tracks, including Sonate Pacifique. “The big surprise, this time, is the absence of vocals. But there will be a surprise in a few months with vocals... Can’t say more so far,” he says.” — Boski Gupta, DNA India, Oct 24, 2013

Be having fun under the sun
I don't know what it is but there is a trick in her
Who works on me
So well
And I can't deny it
She turns me on like a firecracker in the summer sun
I can feel my mind
Slowly fading with the smell of her perfume
And when she's dancing
Oh damn

Project 11 is not just a handful of stories crafted into tracks, but instead a multidimensional exploration of the aching human heart via soul in its most honest forms: music and poetry. (…) Granted, for a newcomer, dedicating even a petite fifth of a first project to spoken verse can be interpreted as over-ambition – nevertheless, softly squeezed in the middle of Smith’s record is London writer Thea Gajic’s poetry, titled “Carry Me Home (Interlude).” — Sydney Sweeney, Atwood Magazine, September 20, 2017

On “Estrangers,” Sab Mai’s vocals are a delicate overcast, numbing the senses and hovering over quaint guitars and keyboard shimmers. “Estrangers” first began at a house party in late 2016, but was finished earlier this year with the addition of strings. The cello backing gives it a sophisticated mystique and deepens the song’s lugubrious yearning.” — Lizzie Manno, Paste Magazine, Aug 30 2019

In an interview, Watson said regarding his band:
“So we as a band are called Patrick Watson. How it started was that originally, some years ago, we were asked to do some music to accompany a book of photography. Having built a CD to go with all these images we thought it would be fun to do it live and it worked really well and people freaked. We didn't really think we were gonna be a band at that point but over a period of five or six years we got to a point where it became very difficult to change the name. Cause blood is thick but smoke be thick as hell
Eyes all on my mind my shell in shell shock
With lonely mail all cluttered on my desktop
Used to got the best box and cutter slice and dice with sideway stump
Stutter with that t-t-tongue
I scream gently how'd you undo us
For goodness sake you make me undone
These poems underneath my nails
Sweat makes the ink run
Smolder-heavy memory brain showed her a pink love
My poem's in the mail
It was tears that made the ink run
Heavy multi-memory brain shed in a pink tongue
[Josh]
If you're bummed out
Feel free to talk with me
How does lunch sound
I'll ask you about your week
On the come down
Always rehashing scenes
When the sun's down
And half of the world's asleep
I'm half-asleep

The Nancy From Now On video is racy and explicit, showing the folk artist romping in a hotel room with a patent-leather clad lady. The vixen, adorned with studs and whips, commits a series of violent, yet sultry moves on Father John Misty. The heavily bearded fella simply indulges in the moment, drinking booze and allowing himself to be suffocated under a pillow. After a hair cut and a night at the bar, the artist finally returns home. But, is it to another lady or was this vixen his honey the whole time? You can't be sure.” — trend hunter, Sophia Pelka, March 29, 2012

Oh, pour me another drink

Every man wears a symbol
And I know I have mine
I've got my right hand stamped
In the concentration camp where my organs scream “Slow down, man!”
Ooh, flowers and bows
Milk and honey flow
Just a couple states below?
Ooh
Oh, hook me up to the tank
And roll me to the door
I'm going where my body leads me
I can fend for myself
With what looks I have left
I'll put away a few
And pretty soon, I'll be breaking things I have of you
Ooh, flowers and bows
Milk and honey flow
Just a couple states below?
Ooh, give me how it was
A place under the sun
Before the devil made me run
“Run, boy”, “run, boy”

The artwork for this EP is a self portrait I took a few weeks ago. I hate getting my photo taken for a number of reasons, one of them being that I’ve always been self conscious about my appearance/body. So I found it interesting that when I was the photographer, I almost immediately wanted to take my clothes off and it felt very natural to do so. This image I found particularly interesting as it made me think about my own gender, which falls probably towards the middle of the spectrum... somewhere. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ This led me to think about how queer bodies are interpreted / censored. I wondered how ‘masculine’ a body has to appear in order for a nipple to be allowed to be shown. How you feel or identify is not taken into account if your body is read as female.
But most of all - regardless of my🍒 nip 🍒 - I liked this image and how comfortable I felt within myself when taking it. 💡💡💡💡" - Amber Bain

"I On the Opposite Shore Will Be" recounts the intimate journey of the woman who now lives on this other continent, far from her own. The words are borrowed from the famous American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, author of "Paul Revere's Ride", a poem well known to American schoolchildren, about a young soldier's involvement in the Revolutionary War against the British Empire.
Mackenzie reimagines these words from their original meaning to tell her own story, expressing both melancholy and a strong attachment to her native culture. She readily confesses that this is her most sincere song.

Released April 17, “Next Best Thing” has everything a languishing love song must, but it doesn’t sound like a sad track upon first listening to it. The longing and sadness in the lyrics is masked under an uptempo beat and vibrant cover art. The track features a back-and-forth dialogue between two romantically involved individuals, but this tension is only revealed through the lyrics, which are responsible for pushing the song sonically and lyrically forward. It is a song about dissonance, disconnection, the space between two people who are in irrevocably different headspaces." - Atwood Magazine, MADISON VETTORINO, May 18 2020

you're waiting for the next best thing
something had to change
a girl you'd give a diamond ring
it's kinda hard to explain
i'm not mad that you don't adore me
wish you told me
but when i'm with you i feel lonely
oh
i've been staring outside
spare time was thinking i could find

where the weeks go
when the snow comes to dampen your fall
far from the life that we knew
months hutle by and i barely see you
so i've been down
dumb as it sounds

The warm guitar track was released with a music video directed by Scott Dungate and produced by Wieden+Kennedy Tokyo x Nakama. In the heartwarming clip, a man grieves the loss of his young daughter by constructing a shrine out of plush animals. His constant travels to-and-from the shrine on his bicycle attract the ire of local motorists and, eventually, one stubborn patrol officer, but the man keeps on climbing, determined to reunite with his daughter once more.
“Memory is a powerful thing,” Khruangbin said of the song. “Now more than ever it’s important to tell the people you love that you love them, so that they don’t forget.”” — Rolling Stone, Claire Shaffer, May 18, 2020

You make the bed that you lay in no matter what dream you chasing

The law and order been ordered to cut us down ‘fore we grow
And they poisoned our seeds, when mother nature clashed with father time

Wondering around my state of mind and what I find

Counting my blessings, thankful for another day
Use every second tryna find my way up out this motherfucker

“This song is about impostor syndrome. About being in Japan for the first time, somewhere I’ve always wanted to go, and playing my music to people who want to hear it, feeling like I’m living someone else’s life,” Bridgers said of “Kyoto” in statement. “I dissociate when bad things happen to me, but also when good things happen. It can feel like I’m performing what I think I’m supposed to be like. I wrote this one as a ballad first, but at that point I was so sick of recording slow songs, it turned into this.”

For COLORS, Cleo Sol delivers an enchanting and dreamlike rendition of stand out single “Why Don’t You”. Soundtracked by those grand strings and subtle percussive bursts, it’s no surprise that it’s Sol’s richly textured and buttery smooth vocal tones that take centre stage. Creating an atmosphere and air of intimacy that has your attention hooked from the first utterance, the Londoner shows us exactly how it’s done. Drift away to the graceful musings of Cleo Sol up top and of course give Winter Songs a spin too – you won’t be disappointed!’ — COLORS STUDIOS

And you don't want me to know that
I see you work real hard
You wanna help your friends, but trust me baby
You don't owe them
Don't take on people's problems
I wanna see you smile
Even when you think I'm angry
It's true it might take a while
But it's between you and me
Where's some? Where some?
No no, no no
I know you check my texts
Don't you worry about my ex
I might be on his mind
But I never reply
Remember on the weekend
I said I'll make some changes
And you said you'll do the same thing
And I don't wanna fight my king (I don't wanna fight my king)
I had you when you was weak
You caught me on my knees
Don't pressure me for some kids
And I won't pressure you for marriage
I know it's never the right time
But we gotta do things on our time
Sometimes I still doubt myself
But at least now I love myself
And I am quite emotional
That's why you can't get close at all

The track is noted for its lengthy instrumental sections—over four minutes of the 6:40 album version is instrumental, including a long, melodic series of solos that encompass cello, violin, piano, acoustic guitar, distorted electric guitar, synthesizer and saxophone.
Co-written by Peter Wood, "Year of the Cat" is a narrative song written in the second person whose protagonist, a tourist, is visiting an exotic market when a mysterious silk-clad woman appears and takes him away for a gauzy romantic adventure. On waking the next day beside her, the tourist realises, with equanimity, that his tour bus has left without him and he has lost his ticket.
The Cat is one of the twelve signs of the Vietnamese zodiac. It corresponds to that of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. At the time of the song's release, the most recent Year of the Rabbit had been 11 February 1975 to 30 January 1976; thus, the song was recorded in the Vietnamese Year of the Cat.” — Wikipedia

On a morning from a Bogart movie
In a country where they turn back time
You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre
Contemplating a crime
She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running
Like a watercolor in the rain
Don't bother asking for explanations
She'll just tell you that she came
In the year of the cat
She doesn't give you time for questions
As she locks up your arm in hers
And you follow 'till your sense of which direction
Completely disappears
By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls
There's a hidden door she leads you to
These days, she says, I feel my life
Just like a river running through
The year of the cat
While she looks at you so cooly
And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea
She comes in incense and patchouli
So you take her, to find what's waiting inside
The year of the cat
Well morning comes and you're still with her
And the bus and the tourists are gone
And you've thrown away your choice you've lost your ticket
So you have to stay on
But the drum-beat strains of the night remain
In the rhythm of the newborn day
You know sometime you're bound to leave her
But for now you're going to stay
In the year of the cat
Year of the cat

The difference here is how Bonobo brought the Houston trio full circle with its future home by including their “A Calf Is Born In Winter” single in his acclaimed Late Night Tales album a couple years ago. The standout selection helped spark the band’s record deal and last year’s The Infamous Bill 10”, as did a sound that’s admittedly indebted to the rare Thai grooves we all know and love.
Now we’ve got the first visual taste of their full-length, the gossamer pop tune “White Gloves,” which also happens to be the first Khruangbin cut with actual lyrics and smoke-trailed hooks.
“We never really thought of ourselves as having a ‘singer’ but we knew that we wanted a voice for Khruangbin,” they explained via E-mail. “We decided to write about something close to us, tell a story as simply as possible, and sing it together. We created the footage for ‘White Gloves’ many years ago by creating a video feedback loop with a VHS camera and an old television. We always wanted to use it in some way with Khruangbin, and after all of this time, it found what it was missing. It lets the story and the song speak for themselves.”” — self-titled magazine

"I wrote this song a few years ago when I first started trying to do music full time,” Krauter said in a statement. “It was a pretty confusing time, and I think a lot of my headspace was taken up by the question of what opportunity looks like in my life, how much of myself I owe to it, and the inevitable reality of me making mistakes and finding an opportunity wasted regardless of my effort. Writing this song sort of helped me to contextualize that feeling and reflect on myself in a critical but compassionate way."" - The Fader, David Renshaw, February 05, 2020

Penning a narrative of nostalgia, Kate crafts a stirring ballad-turned-anthem. “rbbts” starts off moody with down-tempo strums coated in emotion, unrelenting in their regularity while Kate’s voice — a haunting lilt — leaves poetic lyrics in its wake. For nearly two minutes, there’s a luxe languor to “rbbts,” built on drowsy kick-drum beats and tender strums, but later, the song erupts into a crush of soaring indie-rock rhythms as the percussion gets angrier, the guitar gets twangier, the vocals get more combative.
As quickly as the chorus comes in, it’s gone again, leaving a looming trill sent humming as Kate takes her time offering an eerie bridge, “meet me in the morning indigo skylight twilight,” before the song concludes with a dynamic crescendo packed with the unapologetic fire Kate had been sneaking us micro-doses of from its very beginning. “rbbts” opens as a simmer but it ends in flames — it’s the kind of song that entrances from its first note only to continue to shock the senses in that quiet, humble way that masterminds like Kate Davis can achieve.“ — The Music Mermaid, Jun 18, 2019

Keeping with the color theory, “circle the drain” is all about the blues. It’s a song that captures the inescapable pull that depression has on your mental health. “Things feel that low sometimes/ Even when everything is fine,” Allison sings in the chorus, admitting that even the smallest things can send someone spiraling.
It’s filled with scratchy acoustic guitars and burbles of water (very Avril) and has some real sharp gems of insight about getting trapped in a mood you can’t get out of: “Trying to seem strong for my love, for my family and friends but I’m so tired of faking/ ‘Cus I’m chained to my bed when they’re gone, watching TV alone ’til my body starts aching,” goes one of them.
The song comes with a video, directed by Atiba Jefferson, that finds Allison meeting up with some skateboarders in Palm Springs.” — stereogum, James Rettig, January 14, 2020

While their comeback single, “Star Roving,” riffed on the band’s roots, “Sugar for the Pill” is something entirely different—a disarming heartbreak ballad led by singer Neil Halstead in a surprisingly gentle mood. Sparer than their early, fuzzy compositions, and warmer than the equally minimalistic tracks on Pygmalion, “Sugar for the Pill” is simple and delicate, but never frail. The song’s greatest surprise is a smooth, catchy ‘80s soft-rock chorus—a considerable risk for a band that rarely indulged in straightforward pop. But icy needles of guitar and Rachel Goswell’s ghostly backing vocal balance out any hint of effusiveness. An undulating melody and underlying thrum of steady, persistent bass and drums imbues its sad story of a dissolving relationship with a sense of acceptance. It’s gorgeous, but grounded. In their newest incarnation, Slowdive have traded the abject longing of youth—an emotion that suffused so many shoegaze classics—for the wisdom of maturity. Every great band should age so well.” — Pitchfork, Judy Berman, MARCH 29 2017

Sunbeam Sound Machine is less a band than a one-person mystical order, endlessly searching for new secrets in the same sacred texts like Deerhunter and Atlas Sound. It’s a subtle sound, better suited to sleepless nights than festival stages.
But don’t let that lull you into missing the point. This multi-instrumentalist will take you on a worthwhile journey. “I began working on this album in an exploratory way, recording for recording’s sake until an album began to take form naturally,” Nick says. (…)
Sunbeam Sound Machine first garnered attention with 2013 EP 'One', before 'Wonderer' received widespread acclaim, leading to nationwide touring in Australia as well as the US with Sowersby’s five-piece live outfit. (…)
“The first album was a lot more psychedelic and was reflected in the album artwork.”” - Scenestr, Gyan Rocha, April 15, 2019

♪ lyrics ♪
I've got this feeling that I can't control
I've got a feeling that I'm not alone
Love brought me here, love taught me where to go
Love is the only way I'll ever know
I've got this feeling that I can't control
I've got a feeling that I'm not alone
Love brought me here, love taught me where to go
Love is the only thing I'll never know
All I know
All I know
All I know
All I know
Is to feel like the only one
In your arms
(In your arms)
In your arms
All I know
All I know
All I know
All I know
Is to feel like the only one
In your arms
