HD PCB Phantasm No Deaths Stage Part
updated
This isn't an amazing clear of it - I had no idea what I was doing in Styx - but I'm proud of clearing this run, and I think more people should give it a try!
I originally uploaded the full run, but for some reason my recording software garbled the audio in Tartarus and and Asphodel. I think Elysium and Styx is the most interesting part anyway, but if you want to see the whole thing, I suggest muting, and it's unlisted at youtube.com/watch?v=keZzGgkswS8
As for the game itself? Really awesome. If you haven't played it yet, you should. It's less aggravating than the camera games, though it is a bit easier for the masochists out there. Playing without items is a fun challenge too - with these day 10 cards you can see in plenty of them I'm just cheesing by having five lives, but they're perfectly doable without dying.
Last words played at 1.5x speed.
All of them are here, minus the time out spells (ugh, too much precision work, forget it), Total Purification (was getting on my nerves) and Scarlet Destiny (was getting on my nerves and is kind of boring!)
A few hours thrown at grabbing the last words at 90FPS. The results are pretty impressive, I think!
Not too much harder, though a lot of my timings were a bit thrown and some of the nonspells that I never bothered to memorize became tricky at the super high speeds, so it's fairly mistake prone. I get into a groove eventually though, and finish pretty well.
I used Reimu A to help offset not being able to finely control movement as much.
This was fun, the bullet patterns in Ten Desires might not be the hardest in the series, but they usually are quite fun to dodge.
The animated bullets here hurt my brain a bit.
This was about 2500 tries in or so. I was so excited and nervous hearing that countdown and making some crazy dodges that I ended up being really stupid.
Uploading this just for fun, it's a nice combo with the previous video to show what I took to get there, I think! It also really is pretty spectacular.
Here's everything! As you can see, it gets pretty hectic after Yuyuko, but the game is pretty generous with lives. I went for about a "hard mode" level of difficulty.
You can download it and play it yourself at http://www.mediafire.com/?l7e8biys759wi5b
Controls are WASD and mouse. It was done quite quickly so be aware that ESC is insta-quit (there isn't a pause) and there's no installer, just unzip somewhere and run.
There's a couple random lags in this video, but that's just FRAPS being FRAPS... This game should be able to be run on a toaster.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we had fun making it! Here's the link - http://www.mediafire.com/?l7e8biys759wi5b
Thanks to BB for playtesting and spreading the word!
Otherwise, things of note - I'm not dead! I've finished up Fall of Limgoth, but I can't distribute that until Digipen gives its okay. I've been really slowly but surely moving forward on my own Touhou fan game, and the graphics engine for that is coming along, but I can't say when I'll have a video. Real life has been awesome but busy, sorry for being so inactive!
Thanks for watching!
Here's a playthrough of what we have so far! Part 4/4.
Err, let me try that last part again.
Here's a playthrough of what we have so far! Part 3/4.
Letting Mordecai take a little damage to show off defenders using heal seemed like a good idea at the time....
Here's a playthrough of what we have so far! Part 2/4.

Lots of polish and internal architecture improvements, we're ready to move to into more levels, skills, and a campaign mode!
Sorry about the GUI glitch randomly drawing black boxes OTL

Part two, with me talking graphics.

Part one of our gameplay demo! Our name is now officially "The Three Days" until we change it again. Or don't. Who knows.
Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Fire away!

Despite the lack of updates the past month, work has still been continuing on NFFT. The project hit a major speedbump after the presentation, being that we had to rip out pretty much all of our gameplay and remake it from scratch. It all works now though, and we're adding polish, tweaks, and graphics - like this lightning effect - into the game. We'll have another video Thursday-Fridayish (for sure this time, our grades depend on it!) showing off some real gameplay. There's been a number of major internal improvements too - graphics runs almost 2 times faster!
Mainly this was just supposed to be a quick thing before we talked inside the actual game, but that part didn't really get done well enough to show yet... Everything should be good to go by Friday though, so we'll youtube it Friday or Saturday, and probably do that instead of this coming week's devlog.
I was pretty sleepy while making this, since I was recovering from a double all-nighter to get everything in OTL
New version edits out Bryan loudly swearing in the background =P Whoops.

Ah, sorry we missed last week! To make up for it, this week we have the most exciting of topics - GUI.
Did I say "Childrens?"

Sorry about the technical difficulties!
This was just added by the developers yesterday, and this was my first lunatic clear with the true end. Doing this is *hard* since to beat it for the first time you need to have enough points to even unlock the level, which you can do from stage 5-1 if you have some clever chaining. (Thank god I didn't have to fight the Scarlets over and over!)
There's a timeskip here on the ice attack, due to me playing it really, really conservatively so it takes about 5 minutes to beat. I had way more trouble then usual on the fire attack, which normally (once I figured out to run behind her) I don't have that much trouble with. The laser spam was a bit of a mixed bag too, but I somehow pull through.
Final thoughts: I'm really, really glad they added this level. The final bosses were a little lackluster before, and the game seemed to end on a "meh." note. It's a ton of fun and incredibly tricky, and I can get behind that =)

At this point you're probably wondering where part 1 and the devlog are. Part 1 is coming but had to be re-encoded (and now re-re-encoding, blah), and the devlog should have been done except I feel asleep early and I guess the other guys didn't feel like trying to wake me up... We have all the stuff for it though, so probably tomorrow.
Oh, this video! Here's where things get *tough.* Without the Marisa Laser the wind attack is hellish even on normal, which is why I went for her instead of Patchy. The final spellcard, Akashic Chronicle... Well, it speaks for itself. Thankfully it's not too damaging and when you get hit you can grab a bunch of invulnerability time by falling off the screen, but still it'll kill you if you don't go into it with enough health (or have god-level reflexes.)
Overall, awesome fight, awesome game. Lion Heart has really made a name for themselves with this game, the amount of polish is incredible.

All I can say is: Whew!

I haven't played UFO all that much since its release, since I've really been focusing my work on the game I've been writing, but when challenged to a race by BabyBahamut to see whether or not I could pacifist Nue before he beat her regularly I simply couldn't resist.
More comments in the running commentary, but let me say this about it here - this was HARD! The stage is a real pain to do correctly with the UFO collection and then the UFO attacks are a billion times harder due to timeout, she has a timeout stage that decimates you and you get less life and one less bomb by not shooting. I'm really, really proud of this run! I still have it!
Don't expect too much more Touhou in the near future though, because my game really is commanding 110% of my time, but after the main engine is finished and most of my work is done Dec-Jan-ish I'll probably play it a bit more again... In the mean time, check out the DevLog!

Got a whole ton of new stuff in this week... From local volumetric lights with god rays to path smoothing and broad phase collision detection.
Sorry for the lowered quality and audio desync on the later segments... Won't happen next time, I fail at checkboxes and we didn't feel like redoing the videos.

NFFT - now with more GUI, GJK, and Floyd Warshall.
Also, Bryan's here! Devlogs should start becoming a more regular thing again now that everyone is back and working.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcvKLCGRFZs&fmt=18 HQ
I went about this fight in a really, really cheap way. I purposefully let myself get hit to build up magic so I could just masterspark the finally attack away 3 times.
Because of that, there's a four minute timeskip during Patchy's cogs that's basically just me jumping into them over and over while switching characters. It's possible to beat the final spell without doing it this way, but it's much harder.
With this I have a Mystical Chain lunatic all-clear! Now back to work... Next video will be a devlog!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wduEb_JrCU8&fmt=18 HQ
Not too bad until the final attack, where you really just have to try and kill her as fast as possible.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLJ9xDwhKjI&fmt=18 HQ
In Mystical Chain the final boss is the character you didn't pick, so this is the first final boss of 3, Marisa.
Might as well post all the fights, I guess.

Here's the battle with Flandre and Remilia, and it's really tough. You really have to abuse the ambush command like crazy in order to get through it. I manage to pull off the fight without continuing AND glitch the game, so I consider it a good run =)

I do cheese the four of a kind section a bit, but it made it much, much, much easier. It means you can pretty much safely skip for like 6:00 to 9:00 though.
There's another part coming too with the final attack.

Here's a run I've been messing around with for a couple days, and I've pretty much given up on. Possessed by Phoenix is impossible no-vert and Hourai Doll allows you redirection of the first couple waves, but then becomes impossible too.
So this is a pretty good run, no-vert alway up until Possessed by Pheonix (which I no-horiz) and then no-vert Hourai Doll where I lose all my final resources. It's still a pretty cool run though, so I decided to upload it.

Yay UFO! Normal and extra were pretty fun. Hmm, I'll try lunatic! This could be exciting!

What.
But seriously, wow. I can't even make a dent in this game's lunatic. This is insane.

Best extra stage in a while!
Sleepiness = fail dodges and clipdeath, though. I'll eventually get a prettier run of this, I'm sure.

This was a great, great extra.
Reminds me a lot of EoSD's extra...

UFO is out!!! I got a normal 1CC after a couple tries, and here it is.
This isn't a great run (it's my first 1CC of the game) and so it's mainly just for people wanting to take a look and hear the music.
Will add commentary in a bit, trying to rush extra.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzQNDkcoIdM&fmt=18 HQ
This attack is streaming, but it's the hardest streaming you'll find. The window to turn around is so unbelieveably small, and then you have to dodge another pattern on top of it....
But, more importantly, Comiket 76 opened up 3 hours ago! I'm going to play through all the C76 stuff in the coming days.

Showing off the AI!
I don't think I explained why those values (destructiveness, cohesion, etc.) are used well enough in the video so it looks kind of like magic.
The idea is that with a feature vector it's really easy to calculate the goodness of a plan. There's nothing special about the things I picked, other than those few simple descriptions made for a good simple AI demo. In the future I'll probably have something like 30-40 different values instead the can be queried somehow rather than being passed as arguments every time.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ln9FXdIUuZk&fmt=18 HQ
Showing off some of the basic scripting features. There's really a ton to show off... I didn't even get to materials!
Also, watching this video to check to see if it came out alright was the first time I saw "Bipel" component. Whoops.
Anyway, since there was a lot to show, I split this up into two parts. With some actual editors I'll have a ton to show next time too.

Forgot to add the spacial distortions in =(
Last devlog with Tom for a month or so, but this month is prime time for me to get some work done!
As always, looking for thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc.
Sorry it's been so long... Tom had to do the import/export part of the animations and I needed to do all the math, but we never had the time to work together to figure it out until a few days ago =(

If you like things, you should play this game. You start at the beginning of shump history (space invaders), and work your way up through to danmaku... Well, you would if stage 5 was programmed yet! Even still, stage 4 is pretty beastly on the Creator difficulty level, but I did a pretty good job of it here.

This is a sadistic hack of EoSD that maxs out the rank and also throws a bunch of nasty stuff in... It's mainly just a rank hack for extra, though.
Since it desyncs replays, this is a live run.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBORR69wUYM&fmt=18 HQ
Just a good, fun run as the magic team. Almost every spellcard captured! No bombs.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WCxtirzX_8&fmt=22 HQ
Rather, it's me saying that due to not being able to coordinate with Tom there will be no devlog this week since it's already Thursday. Most everything that Tom and I share in the code is currently broken so it's kind of hard to show off the game right now.
In the meantime, here's me playing around with an early version of my framebuffer distortion shockwave effect! It's got a few issues (highlighted in the slo-mo parts), but overall is pretty nice. Definitely fun to play around with.

The final battle!
