A while back, snark proposed the idea for this route on twitter, but nothing ever came of it, since he never attempted it. At some point in the past half year, I had made some very basic attempt at doing this 10k route. I, however, quickly moved onto other things and forgot about this.
Since AlexPalix1 was working on PU routes, I approached him with this idea, and he quickly found a working route branching from my previous attempt. The way this strategy works, is there is an invisible slide class surface under the bowser warp, which allows mario to reflect speed from negative to positive by decelerating, so that the first quarter step is out of bounds. Then, two 10k slides are performed, the first cutting the speed in half, and the second reducing it to only about 2000. Then from there, mario freefalls and jumpdives into the warp.
There is possibly time to be saved, if a better PU route can be found.

I contacted AlexPalix1 for him to take a look, so he asked his bruteforcer nicely and it gave him this result almost instantly.
I then got as much hspd as I could out of the BLJ, which was around -273 hspd. Last record it was necessary to kill some speed to collect the 2nd blue coin, however with less hspd mario was able to collect the blue coin 3f earlier. I then found I could immediately kick around the pillar instead of spending an air frame, saving another frame. Due to the smaller magnitude of hspd, a frame was lost on the climb back up to the chimney.

previous record: youtu.be/xXkQcGvLAWY[TAS] SM64 - Make Wiggler Squirm (4058)Crackhex2022-11-07 | Yesterday Manama came up with the beginning strategy seen in this video, and was able to optimise to 1f slower than record. AlexPalix1 then found two more frames, making this start 1f faster. This beginning is also applicable for Rematch Koopa the Quick star. I set the swim strength to 280, instead of 160 old record had, which gave -4f without changing inputs. Palix and I tried for an extra frame save, but it was not close. Then today, AlexPalix1 improved the wiggler fight by 2f, by hitting wiggler 1f earlier, and landing from groundpound at star 1f earlier. The ghost was synced for each section for clearer viewing. The camera was bad for the middle section, so I slightly improved it by using Xander's camera script. Since Swingin' in the Breeze was improved recently by removing a triple jump, I decided to see if I could do that for this star. I found this bonk GWK to use with it, independently from the original discoverer, Tabascoth. This led to a 2 frame save, or 14"53, which is the ghost in blue. I contacted AlexPalix1 when I was struggling with the 2nd frame save, and he came up with slightly different start movement that made getting the necessary angle extremely easy. After finishing that run, he had the idea to grind up the slope instead of doing a jump dive, since it was slow to do that. This allowed us to grab the pole 6 frames earlier, but because of a slightly worse angle, we landed on the platform after the pole jump 1f later. One important thing to note is that we land from the lakitu bounce a frame later than the old run, giving us more speed going into the grind which allows for a better final angle. The last two frames were saved when finishing the star. First Alex noticed that landing from the double jump 1f earlier at the end, which required using a speedpunch off the ledge to retain the speed necessary for the double jump. Then when trying to finish that frame save, I found a separate one. This one involved conserving more speed into the first wall kick off the blue blocks, since Mario was more angled, allowing Mario to wallkick the 2nd time one frame earlier. Alex then combined these saves into the run seen here. This was a fun run to do. Check out AlexPalix1! youtube.com/c/PaLiX

There is a cycle lock for the BLJ, meaning that any additional frames saved at the beginning before the BLJ are meaningless, since mario would just need to wait extra, tying. The first frame came from collecting the 3rd red coin a frame earlier. I was able to get extra distance from the BLJ and walk so I lost less distance, allowing me to barely get the coin a frame earlier. The 2nd frame came from getting better qfs on the grind when collecting the 5th red. This meant I was able to c^up reflect off the wall a frame earlier than Plush. The last frame came from fixing a 1/4qf landing on the double jump wk. I ended up getting less speed than Plush, which gave me less speed than Plush for the longjump, and about 12 units less distance. I was able to make this distance back up by getting a better push back onto the platform, ultimately putting me a couple units ahead. There's a very annoying 1/4qf at the end that I was not able to save. Maybe it can be saved, I'm not sure. Regardless, this was a cool birthday present.
Previous run: youtube.com/watch?v=IZKJ9IhPTv8[Outdated] [TAS] SM64 - Big Boos Balcony (2203)Crackhex2022-10-03 | 22.00 donw with Manama: youtube.com/watch?v=NQYgLVXjkh4 -1f over old run Took a look at this star with Manama. I had the idea of wallkicking a frame later to get rid of a frame in air from the wall kicks, giving me 50 extra height, but it did not save anything. It makes the sidekick a lot easier to land on the roof from, not having to do the misalignment like this run does. However since it did not save a frame, I did not bother making the run from that, since I would have to redo the Boo fight.
At the end, there was a 1/4 quarter frame landing that I saved, and this allowed me to get the slide a frame earlier in a better position on the roof (higher y value). Then instead of falling off on the roof on the 4th turning frame like Plush, I spent that walking frame on the roof and jump-dived the next frame. This meant that I was able to grind out of the dive and be close enough to the star to grab it a frame earlier. Re-encoded because of audio.

This TAS was largely a solo effort, but several people helped me throughout the creation of it, including:
AlexPalix1: Helped optimise the 1st room up to the divegrind, saved a frame in the 2nd room by different movement down from elevator, and came up with triple jump strategy in final room with some other optimisation there as well. He also allowed me to use his RNG script optimising rng indicies for coin collects, to collect all 3 scuttlebug coins from the groundpound. Manama: Suggested new red collect strategy and optimised it, saving around a second. ChouxZi3: TASed the Double Star Spawn, and came up with the ending movement. DeRockProject: Helped me understand the mechanics of bats, allowing me to save significant time on collecting coins from them. Eru: Came up with the route for the last room seen here in the video, much less optimised. fifdspence: Provided me with an RNG manip tool which I used to find an RNG index that worked from start for all coins. slither: encoded this TAS in 4k and did comparison, and provided computing power for rng bruteforcer.
This was a wild ride and came out with a really cool TAS, hope you all enjoy :)

WII VC ONLY 21.50 here, CONSOLE COMPATIBLE: youtu.be/Z5AKar4a6-8 previous: youtu.be/2Z3jLOZM6e8[TAS] SM64 - 1key 2f improvementCrackhex2022-07-16 | Yesterday (15/07/2022), Circumark994 posted in TAS discord a clip of swimming speed being higher after having already entered water. This led to a new discovery. (youtu.be/DYV66eTKGho)
JoshDuMan was very involved in understanding this new tech, and shot me a DM asking if 1key was improvable using this new discovery. Sure enough, it was.
Explanation of new tech (written by Josh): There is a variable that stores the current swimming strength as the breast stroke gets stronger over time. This is typically zeroed when first entering into the breast stroke action, but there is an exception in the code when entering after "ending" swimming. Presumably, this was done to allow entering breast stroke from flutter kick while keeping your momentum. However, since flutterkick doesn't zero your strength, if flutterkick is just entered first and then progressed into breast stroke, the previous strength from the last time you swam is conserved. This can be faster based on how fast you were swimming in the previous segment.
Note: I used Manama's grinding strat, however I don't know if that was necessary. This strategy gets more speed during the longjump, which makes mario land in the water 1f later with more speed and distance. This had already tied the previous framesave
This now makes -11f over 1key TAS in the basement.

? denotes a Death Star Glitch, which means the star itself is slower but due to dying it ends up being faster in a whole game run. There is no current standardised timing for DSGs, so this is timed by the first frame the fadeout is visible, as was the old record.
previous record: youtu.be/EFISdYajCpU[TAS] SM64 - Frosty Slide for 8 Red Coins (3067)Crackhex2022-05-04 | -2f over previous run I was working on this star and contacted fifdspence, and he managed to come up with a BLJ sequence that was 1f faster than the old record, although it had far too much speed and was too far in the -x direction. I was able to fix the BLJ to have proper speed and distance.
I noticed that with more speed, it might be possible to hit the wall a frame earlier. I found a small strategy where mario dives later and hits further out to get as much distance as possible on the dive recover of the penguin platform. I was then able to get into the C^up reflect spot, however I had -.6 too much speed to make it work. This C^up bounce only works at speeds above -168 (-167.99 and higher), since mario would land instantly from the jump and go into first person. I gave it to AlexPalix1 and he was quickly able to find a solution that got rid of that last .6 hspd, allowing for the second framesave.

He did many parts of this TAS - BLJ into JRB, Blast Away the Wall, Castle movement from SSL to LLL and LLL to HMC, Improved Hot-Foot-It into the Volcano along with mips clip, and did the bljs at the end. Please show him support, he really deserves it! youtube.com/channel/UCq57yBpYJddRMhj19SVJqnQ

CeeSZee - Helped TAS Red-Hot Log Rolling, TASed and provided me with the file for Watch for Rolling Rocks. The video and with it the file of the best Watch for Rolling Rocks segment are unavailable, so he provided me with the second best one! youtube.com/channel/UCrmbllPtODE3dQ_aFLGr5sg
Nahoc - Helped TAS Ret-Hot Log Rolling, and was the original publisher of the 2011 16 star TAS youtube.com/user/Nahoc10
"1 Key" team - Let me use their Bowser in the Fire Sea, (BLJ), and I hexed in a pause (6f, probably could be 1f faster)
SilentSlayers - Helped TAS Boil the Big Bully, and A-Maze-ing Emergency Exit. He has also been around in the TAS community for quite a while. youtube.com/user/SilentSlayers
Crackhex - Put this TAS together - Fixed desyncs, did most of mips clip, hexxed all 3 LLL stars in (which are an absolute pain to hex in due to the global timer), TASed some castle movement youtube.com/channel/UC_9O61Cu6DpvjDVMLWdUGCQ
