Unfinished Videos & WIPS | 2021-2022 MockingJamie 2022-05-05 | It's that time of year again!! The difference this time, though, is that this isn't a cutting room floor video borne from lack inspiration. No, no. I have way too MUCH inspiration that I don't know what to do with right now. I have an entire Notion page just filled to the brim with video ideas. These are just the videos that I either gave up on or am going to redo once I get a chance; I also have a couple of ~top secret~ videos I'm working on that I didn't want to show but will be up soon enough on their own. Hehehehe.Anyways, onto the breakdown:#1. Six of Crows - Heathens (0:00)This video will almost certainly get repurposed eventually? I just don't know if I'm going to make it now or wait until season 2. I started it around when season 1 came out, cause I had just finished Crooked Kingdom and I was absolutely obsessed. But then I tried to stretch all their scenes from season 1 into a 2.5 minute long video and I just...couldn't do it? Not the way I wanted to, at least, and this just felt really disjointed in the end. Also I modified this colouring (originally Winter by SunnyVids) so much that I made it super ugly and I couldn't fix it lmfao. So basically I just gutted this whole video after rendering this, and took out the middle chorus/second verse and put the original colouring on. I'd ideally like to actually make this cause there are certain parts I'm still a fan of and I think it would be a fun video, but we'll see how it goes.#2. Kaz Brekker - The Kid I Used to Know (1:48)This is barely a video, but the song fits Kaz to a T and I needed to include this little snippet of a WIP I started around the same time as Heathens to SHOW THE WORLD AND MAKE ALL OF YOU CRY WITH ME OVER THIS SONGI think Kaz is my favourite Crow and I want to make a dedicated video SO BADLY. He just doesn't have enough usable and song-context-relevant scenes in the show yet to make this video without straight up making an animatic. Which I could technically do, I'm just lazy and self conscious about my art lol. We'll see. Maybe he'll get a backstory in s2 and I'll be off to the races. #3. Shadow & Bone - What If This Storm Ends? (2:20)I legitimately got like 3/4 of the way through this video and then I just. Ran out of scenes. Completely. So I just rendered what I had and then gutted this one too.I think I can make this whole video with s1 if I just reorganize it a bit - this one also ended up really disjointed and I couldn't put my finger on why, but I could tell even as I was editing it and I didn't love it. Also this was another one where I couldn't get the colouring right (I started this when I was still using SVP12 and my Color Curves weren't working so I was stuck with Levels lol) so it also just turned out visually uglier than I wanted. HOWEVER now I have VP18 and functioning Color Curves and I just rewatched the show so I can STRUCTURE IT and hopefully end up with a coherent video (assuming I..............actually do it).#4. Squid Game - Cherry Tree (5:58)Started this one around mid-October because song is perfect. The National is my heart and this song has strong Squid Game vibes. I just struggle so hard with quotes when it's a language I don't speak and the show is so brutal that I kinda dropped off editing cause it just made me sad. But I'd like to finish this someday!#5. Caitlyn & Vi - Undisclosed Desires (7:06)I AM WORKING ON THIS I PROMISETHIS IS MY PROOF THAT PROGRESS IS BEING MADEI might change around a couple of fonts here and there, but most of it is just actually adding movement to the art I've laid out and filling in the the remaining gaps. It's somewhere between 50%-75% laid out and maybe 30%-50% edited, so once I really sit down to finish this it'll be fine.#6. Arcane - Let It Rock (8:38)Editing this video is some of the most fun I have had in a WHILE. This song was one of those I've been wanting to edit with since I was in middle school (so like.......2010/2011?? I did actually make something in 2011 but we won't talk about that video lol) and I finally am confident enough in my editing + found a show that genuinely fits so here we are. It's so fun to edit. Has anybody else had a problem where anything you upload in 16:9 is super pixellated and has this little black bar at the bottom? It doesn't show up on my laptop (Mac) but it does on my desktop (Windows), and it's really fucking weird and I hate it. I don't know where it's coming from cause I tried rendering in both .wmv and .mp4 format, I played around with a bunch of settings, and it didn't used to happen until I tried uploading something in December? Even this version is more pixellated than I'd like, but the black bar is at least gone so I'll settle, haha. Not the end of the world by any means, but I can't figure out why it's happening to some people's videos and not others. I finally finished it last night, but then Vegas kept getting stuck halfway through the render, so I had to split it up, render it in 12 parts, and then stitch them all together to render them again (tbh I’m surprised it took this long for me to have that problem…I think the last time was 2012).But I made it through and now it’s up! Overall I’d say I’m quite happy with it. I had this idea in my head for about two months but I couldn’t actually make it because I was still at university, so when I got home I /immediately/ jumped on it, haha.So January 28th, 2018 marks the fateful day that I decided to start listening to TAZ, and it's literally one of the best things I've ever done.
