Lyrics: What do you have in store? One life away you can’t explore But I don’t want to get in the way no more Cause this the type of feeling you can’t ignore, aye I’m ready to break down the door Settle the score I can’t let you go away I miss the smile off your face You know that I lo-lo-lo-love the chase You told me once that I was crazy I said “Babygirl I know but I can’t let you go away So don’t you get me started now I want a yes, I don’t want maybe’s cause they leave me where you found me So don’t leave, Oo, I just love the way you got me feeling And now I feel it It’s like Oo Take away the pain Baby, I’m healing Baby, I’m healing I don’t need anything more Be the wave, I’ll be the shore Crashing all over me I want you What do you have in store? Type of girl that make me drop dead on the floor This the only girl that I love and adore This the type of love that you can’t ignore I said hey! She comin my way She running round saying whatever she wanna say I told her I don’t wanna have to do this everyday Told her that I love her but she thinkin it’s a game Oh no! Now she uncomfortable Never wanna make it the one dimensional oh Yeah-oh-nanana Don’t know how we got here don't you get me started now You told me once that I was crazy I said “Babygirl I know but I can’t let you go away So don’t you get me started no I want a yes, I don’t want maybe’s cause they leave me where you found me So don’t leave Oo, I just love the way you got me feeling Got me feeling it It’s like Oo Take away the pain Baby, I’m healing Baby, I’m healing I don’t need anything more Be the wave, I’ll be the shore Passion all over me I want you

Lyrics: There goes my baby Out of my reach Why won’t you take me It’s so hard to breathe How could you fall short You were taller than me There goes my baby Why did you leave
Real, is your love real Darling I’ve lost my mind Still I’ve got to feel Something so hard to find There goes my baby Out of my reach Why won’t you take me It’s so hard to breathe How could you fall short You were taller than me But there goes my baby Finally free
Are you sure That you want more If it’s from him Why did you waste all my time You were bored and I was alone Feels like someone’s taking my life
There goes my baby Out of my reach Why won’t you take me It’s so hard to breathe How could you fall short You were taller than me There goes my baby Why did you leave Real, is your love real Darling I’ve lost my mind
They weren't calling d4vd a "pop prodigy" when we chose him for our DSCVR program last year, but they should have been - we should've, too. The Houston native writes and sings the kind of heartfelt baubles that scan immediately, built on craft, long on hooks, rich with emotion. That's called checking the boxes. Did you hear the two titles from his recent 'Withering' EP? "Leave Her" rocks out, blending swooping atmospherics with alt-rock glide. Could be Flock of Seagulls covering My Bloody Valentine. "2016" hits even harder, all downstroke guitar and superb refrain. Remember the 18-year-old's origin story? A Fortnite freak, he started writing songs to dodge licensing woes on his YouTube channel. He cut his first tracks in his sister's bedroom closet using the best of Arctic Monkeys and Paramore as heroic templates. He dropped "Romantic Homicide" and blew up on every platform ever. He didn't start playing live 'til a couple years ago, and last spring's ‘Petals To Thorns’ EP reassured any doubters that he was a cool contender for any kind of accolade. Last summer Pharrell invited him to his Something In The Water festival. A week ago he Insta'd a message of success: "A song i made on my iPhone hit a billion streams today." So of course we invited him back to share some new music. "My House Is Not A Home" is dreamy... heartbreaking and ominous at the same time. Time to stroll through d4vd's world again.
LYRICS Hello, I’m at your door again I just needed a friend But now I share a bed with you Am I dumb to succumb to the noise I’m not a little boy no more I’ve made my stupid choices too Tell my mother that I’m sorry Tell my father just the same Tell my sister that her brother might as well have gone insane Is there space for me in Houston Cause it’s spacious in LA Where the grass is always greener And the world can scream my name But you never really cared about the way that everything turned out You didn’t want to fall in love You’re looking out for yourself now It’s starting to piss me off I thought I had you figured out Never thought you would call my bluff Guess who belongs to someone else one now Sorry if I overshared See life, it isn’t fair I’m more and more aware of it now You get drunk then start to curse me out I told you to watch your mouth This is exactly what my mother would warn me about But baby, you can call me When it’s over I talked to your therapist He said you were getting sober There’s only but so many heads that can rest on this shoulder But I think yours was the best for me to cry over But you never really cared about the way that everything turned out You didn’t want to fall in love You’re looking out for yourself now It’s starting to piss me off I thought I had you figured out Never thought you would call my bluff Guess who belongs to someone else one now The house we called our home Has fallen to pieces on its own I know that you’re better off alone Babe, I could fix you but I won’t

I'm scared I feels like you don't care Enlighten me, my dear Why am I still here? I don't mean to be Complacent with the decisions you made But why? In the back of my mind You died And I didn't even cry No, not a single tear And I'm sick of waiting patiently For someone that won't even arrive Ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh In the back of my mind I killed you And I didn't even regret it, I can't believe I said it But it's true I hate you
“Sleep Well” Lyrics: Do you think about me every night Before you go to sleep? I know you must be terrified Of what you might see in your dreams, but
I’m here for you still And even if you don’t think that I’m here I’ll still be right next to you my dear And the way you make me feel Has the power to make the whole world stand still Who’s to say that our love ain’t real?
And I know I’m not the perfect guy But I think I’m doing just alright It doesn’t matter what you thought of me then But what you think of me now We haven’t always seen eye to eye But right now, won't you look at mine? Don’t be scared there’s no such thing as fear When you sleep just know that
I’m here for you still And even if you don’t think that I’m here I’ll still be right next to you my dear
And the way you make me feel Has the power to make the whole world stand still Who’s to say that our love ain’t real?
“Here With Me” Lyrics Watch the sun rise along the coast As we're both getting old I can't describe what I'm feeling And all I know is we're going home So please don't let me go Don't let me go
And if it's right, I don't care how long it takes As long as I'm with you I've got a smile on my face Save your tears, it'll be okay All I know is you're here with me
Watch the sun rise as we're getting old, oh oh I can't describe oh, oh I wish I could live through every memory of you Just one more time before you float off in the wind And all the time we spent Waiting for the light to take us in Have been the greatest moments of my life
I don't care how long it takes As long as I'm with you I've got a smile on my face Save your tears, it'll be okay You're here with me

“Once More” Lyrics: I love you Three words I don’t say anymore Maybe because my heart is torn It’s taped up and it’s stapled I don’t know if i’m able
To move on As I should I’m watching you leave again And it replays in my head A million times And I can’t take it My heart is breaking Once more
Picking my mind up off the floor Will I put it back in my skull, no Not ever Cause you said we were forever That’s some fable
But I can’t move on As I should I’m watching you leave again And it replays in my head A million times And I can’t take it My heart is breaking Once more
“Poetic Vulgarity” Lyrics: Hello, are you there Cause I missed you at the show tonight Any time, anywhere I just want to make sure you’re alright
If you’re off with someone better Then I won’t fall too What can I do But complain about us
Times were better But it seems minuet The grand scheme of things Never seem to like us
We never fit in the same frame The pictures always cut me out The right love but in the wrong time frame Heart too small, you had to push me out
Hello, I’m still here And I’m holding my tears in my hands And if you were gonna walk away The least you could've done Was say in advance “I’m leaving you”
Heartless woman Time consuming Headache inducing __
It’s all that you are It’s all you ever were I’m sorry for bruising you up with my words But you did the same Not too long ago How does it feel to have your heart in your throat
Biting the flesh How does it taste I still remember the kisses you gave To a broken boy
Drown out the noise Everything that you once had in your voice Is no longer there Trapped in the void Of everything that we once tried to destroy

“Rehab” Lyrics: Sparking again Cocaine and liquor Hang out with your friends I’m at the party where it never it ends I’m at the party with hella regrets
I feel like getting in trouble again Kickstart Repertoire With a shovel again I’m on a different level again She fell in love with the devil again I gotta get her out of here I don’t feel this way anymore For the girl that I used to know I’d rather take it slow She thinks she’s too good for me now No room in class for a clown
It’s too much for me to handle, handle White rose petals Broken hearts and bloody sandals Bodies stacked on top of another Good undercover Too bad for each other now
Or not I’ve been hearing gunshots Inside of my clouded thoughts Do I love you a lot Ha Never mind It don’t matter what we’ve done tonight You can’t run or hide from me now Stay a sec Trying to keep you from self destructing Just hold on to something
Cause we’re sparking again Cocaine and liquor Hang out with your friends I’m at the party where it never it ends I’m at the party with hella regrets I feel like getting in trouble again Kickstart Repertoire With a shovel again I’m on a different level again She fell in love with the devil again
We gotta get apart for now Cause it’s obvious You don’t feel the same As you did the other day
Where’d we go wrong I see it now I see it now I see it now I see it now I see it now (I cannot be , what you want me to be, do you envy me, and my energy ) I see it now (when you talk to me, don’t walk with me, don’t follow me)
In all honesty I don’t know you all that well I will not chase you On your way to hell
“Notes From A Wrist” Lyrics: I Didn’t wanna have to break it off But you got my back up against the wall I could take it back But it’s all my fault And all I know is imma make it worse
I’m Burning down but I burn it all I never wanna have to take a loss Only wanted you to take my soul But you left it with me in the name of love
Run away from home again I’m carving these notes into bloody arms Alone with my soul impaled Run away from your loving arms Why am I so afraid I don’t care I’m not coming home Why am I crying if This is what I wanted all along
but they don’t wanna, they don’t wanna They take advantage of the lonely ones Washing my hands in this bloody water I miss the way that I thought it was You, me, against the world And now the whole world Is just against Me Yeah
(can’t take it nah can’t take it all)
You don’t wanna have to lose it all But I would rather lose it anyway I swear I knew I’d lose it anyway I use your picture as a bandaid To cover every single hurting place And I don’t think that I can take it all I really wish that I could take it all It’s so cold
Run away from home again I’m carving these notes into bloody arms Alone with my soul impaled Run away from your loving arms Why am I so afraid I don’t care I’m not coming home Why am I crying, yeah This is what I wanted all along
I don’t even know where I’m going but I’m going there fast My actions only matter in the present I don’t care about the past you know And I don’t got the answers to your questions so can you please stop asking me Stop asking me
Why am I so afraid of you Your stare makes me so uncomfortable Cause I see myself in your eyes Your eyes
Run away from home again I’ve tried So many lives that I’ve died in Why am I so indecisive

“You and I” Lyrics: I dream about you and I But why do I even try? Cause you're running away, running away And I'm trying to stay, trying to stay
But what I'm trying to say is that I've been okay but without you Feel like I'm trapped in a maze We’re going our separate ways and I'm without you
I dream about you and I But why do I even try? Cause you're running away, running away And I'm trying to stay, trying to stay I dream about you and I But why do I even try? Cause you're running away, running away And I'm trying to stay, trying to stay
Different options and different paths I hope that you’re happy I hope it lasts Let’s hope we can leave everything in the past Times are changing and my time you’re wasting while you're here You're never near me you act like you fear me Now it’s clear
I dream about you and I But why do I even try? Cause you're running away, running away And I'm trying to stay, trying to stay I dream about you and I But why do I even try? Cause you're running away, running away And I'm trying to stay, trying to stay
“Backstreet Girl” Lyrics: Backstreet girl From another world With eyes like the ocean So trapped in emotion
What a lovely girl With a heart of gold She’s losing her focus Cause she thinks she’s hopeless
And I don’t wanna Break her heart No not you Loving her way too soon, no
But I don’t wanna Wait too long For someone To love you before I do, no
So backstreet girl Put your hands to the sky Oh, backstreet girl Say goodbye
To the way you once were Drunk and hurt Won’t you look in my eyes and hold me tight It’s okay if you cry Cause I’ll keep holding you
Backstreet girl From another world With eyes like the ocean Woah Trapped in emotion
What a lovely girl With a heart of gold But she’s losing her focus Cause she thinks she’s hopeless
woahhh
Oh backstreet girl From another world With eyes like the ocean So trapped in emotion What a lovely girl With a heart of gold She’s losing her focus Cause she thinks she’s hopeless

How’s this for a modern day artist origin story? David Burke was enjoying a burgeoning career as a Fortnite streamer when the YouTube copyright police struck. Turns out you can’t use someone else’s music for your compilations of Battle Royale wins. The genius workaround? Make his own music. The idea came from the Houston native’s mom, in fact. Mom knew he could do it considering his wildly creative personality, which included an enduring interest in writing poetry. Soon enough, friends and fans were just as interested in David’s music as they were his Fortnite island adventures. “Lyrics come first for me, rather than melody,” the “Romantic Homicide” singer told us. Cribbing inspiration from the Arctic Monkeys and Paramore’s Haley Williams among other alt-rock titans, David recorded tracks in his sister’s bedroom closet. Those songs are part of a catalogue that now draws more than 30 million monthly listeners on Spotify. For as laidback as the 18-year-old was in our studio, it’s clear we’re catching d4vd during a massive life shift. Remember, this is a guy who didn’t play shows until a year ago; You’d never know it watching the genre-curious experimenter bring to life a couple tracks from his new ‘Petals To Thorns’ EP. Like and subscribe to the d4vd experience.

“This Is How It Feels” Lyrics: Sitting on the bleachers alone Wondering where it went wrong The ringing of bells and the sound of the tone I haven’t heard it in years Walking in the rain past your home Feet soaking wet four missed calls on your phone Light in the window of where I belong But I see two shadows up there So this is how it feels To fall in love with you To always think of you To always dream of you Yes it hurts so much To fall in love Sorry for leaving like that You don't deserve to get caught in my mess Loving you is just so difficult I don't know how I should tell you that I’ve fallen for somebody else Happened so quickly I lost myself A shadow of you drift along by my window or did I imagine that So this is how it feels To fall in love with you To always think of you To always dream of you Yes it hurts so much to fall in love with you So if this is how it feels Tell me if our love is real There’s some of type of strange appeal To the way it was so effortless, uh I cannot help it This is how it feels To fall in love with you To always think of you To always dream of you Yes it hurts so much To fall in love with you

"The Bridge" Lyrics: Over water there’s a bridge and I can’t seem to get to you The fear of a loss what I always succumb to The way that I feel I can’t capture it all Like the waves that I sink in when you tell me that I’m not Enough shut up cause I’d kill myself for you Walk in the dark I can’t find my way to you Gone gave it all and it’s all my fault that I Chose to keep holding on to the love you Threw away but I’d stay just to see you make it I’m stuck in my ways so you know I’m not faking You thought I was simple so you got complicated Don’t you get complicated that's the reason that we separate The water rising faster now before and after climbing up the latter screaming at me louder So let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let her go ahhaa, So let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let it go, let her go ahhaa Over water there’s a bridge and I can’t seem to get to you The fear of a loss what I always succumb to The way that I feel I can’t capture it all Like the waves that I sink in when you tell me that I’m not Enough shut up cause I’d kill myself for you Walk in the dark I can’t find my way to you Gone gave it all and it’s all my fault that I Chose to keep holding on to the love you Threw away but I’d stay just to see you make it I’m stuck in my ways so you know I’m not faking You thought I was simple so you got complicated Don’t you get complicated that's the reason that we separate

I’ve been working on a way to bridge the gaps in my artistry with elements of cinema. The character you see here today is named “Itami” which means pain in Japanese. Inspired by manga and anime he is the main antagonist of my entire project. He wears a blindfold for the sole purpose of not being held accountable for the pain he causes. He’s been planted in all of my music videos but it’s not clear what his motive is… You will soon find out. There are two other characters that complete this multiverse of 4... They will be unveiled in due time. 4️⃣

And I know I’m not the perfect guy But I think I’m doing just alright It doesn’t matter what you thought of me then But what you think of me now
We haven’t always seen eye to eye But right now wont you look in me Don’t be scared there’s no such thing as fear When you sleep just know that
I’m here for you still And even if you don’t think that I’m here I’ll still be right next to you my dear
And the way you make me feel Has the power to make the whole world stand still Who’s to say that our love ain’t real
“WORTHLESS” Lyrics: I just left the party with a girl that said she doesn’t want me I feel out of body the way the world keeps wishing death upon me Take it away, feel it now Red all in the face don’t calm me down
‘Cause every time the sun comes up I start feeling worthless It’s easier said than done I’m trying to find my purpose I should’ve ran away by now But I can’t escape this town
It’s taking a minute for me to adjust Wait It’s taking a minute for me to give up Hey It’s been easier to forget and shut up Woah All that’s left in my pocket’s a couple of bucks Hey
All I had is gone So what am I waiting on? Somebody put me to sleep, I’m done, done, done
‘Cause every time the sun comes up I start feeling worthless It’s easier said than done I’m trying to find my purpose I should’ve ran away by now But I can’t escape this town

“Here With Me” Lyrics
Watch the sun rise along the coast As we're both getting old I can't describe what I'm feeling And all I know is we're going home So please don't let me go Don't let me go
And if it's right, I don't care how long it takes As long as I'm with you I've got a smile on my face Save your tears, it'll be okay All I know is you're here with me
Watch the sun rise as we're getting old, oh oh I can't describe oh, oh I wish I could live through every memory of you Just one more time before you float off in the wind And all the time we spent Waiting for the light to take us in Have been the greatest moments of my life
I don't care how long it takes As long as I'm with you I've got a smile on my face Save your tears, it'll be okay You're here with me
“Placebo Effect” Lyrics: Days go by So rapidly Oh won’t you comfort me
I know what we had It was make believe Oh a placebo I can’t take a loss like that again I’d rather float off in the wind But maybe this is how it’s supposed to be I guess we’ll see
On the other side Where the grass seems to be greener On the other side Where my rib cage could be cleaner On the other side Where the light will not go out Oh on the other side Other side
Take my time Please stop rushing me For company I can’t figure it out I need you here but you’re not near
I can’t I can’t I can’t I can’t Remember what was a dream Or a memory Love isn’t real Not to me Not to me

“Dirty Secrets” Lyrics I know the dirty secrets that you keep And you know that you can't hide them all from me I'll figure it out like I like I always do And I know you don't want me to
I can't escape from this place we call our home I saw you with someone when you told me you were alone One hundred and fifty messages I sent right to your phone And you don't ever answer 'cause you know your cover's blown
I know the dirty secrets that you keep And you know that you can't hide them all from me I'll figure it out like I always do And I know you don't want me to
I didn't want an answеr anyway But you never cared about mе anyway I already told you everything I want to say I hope everything's okay I didn't want an answer anyway But you never cared about me anyway I already told you everything I want to say I hope everything's okay
I know the dirty secrets that you keep And you know that you can't hide them all from me I'll figure it out like I always do, I always do And I know you don't want me to, don't want me to
