I mentioned that I had two future versions of the Ten Four Eleanore project. I go on to describe the standard definition video version of the device. I forgot to mention that there will also be ab NBTV version as well. That one will probably preceed the NTSC/PAL version. There are two learning areas for me in these projects. Writing the Windows APP in C# (See Sharp) and learning to send data to and fro over USB.
The SD version of these project will key neatly into two follow on projects, an NTSC composite video encoder and a PAL composite video encoder.

Everything I had on back order has arrived and the serious testing has begun. As usual, there is plenty of room for improvement. But, the first order level of operation has been reached. The buzzing in the sound is coming from the 60 cycle reference oscillator chip required by the silly Cartrivision camera. The equalization of the audio can and will be improved. Then played into a consumer grade digitizer on an old Windows 98 or Windows Vista computer and finally uploaded to YouTube back when they processed the sh*t out of the files to keep their storage requirements to minimum. If you are NOT interested in watching me work on the electronics and would rather just see the demonstration of this high quality signal generator in operation, then go ahead an skip to 50:20 in the video and Bob's your uncle.
This color bar generator was manufactured in Japan circa 1978. I bought it from a low power television station in Oklahoma(?) in the mid 1990s. I used it for many years and then it ultimately ended up in storage for several more years. It was recently fetched home and it was determined that it was time to replace the electrolytic capacitors within. A total of 14 capacitors are replaced in this session. Fortunately, I don't show every one of them being changed. Unfortunately, I do show TOO many of them being changed. Once you've seen one component changed, you've seen them all. Right?
No. Not really. The key detail I try to convey is the corrosion of the printed circuit boards caused by the leakage of the electrolyte from within the capacitors themselves. A great deal of the work was involved with scouring the corrosion from the copper in order to get the solder to flow onto it again. I am delighted to report that the results of my efforts were quite successful. This device will be able to provide another forty years of service.

Enjoy!Cathode Ray Tube Projects #1, Testing a Mystery CRTvideolabguy2021-04-26 | Today, Labguy takes a break from the cameras and sync generators to play with a really cool compact "picture tube" that he has had stashed away in his junque collection for far too long. Time to fire it up and see if it works or is just another useless nick nack. The tube is the M1234P31 made by Electron Tube Division of General Atronics Corporation. This tube is a cute three inch by three inch blue/green phosphored type that is a mere seven inches deep. Utilizing magnetic deflection and electrostatic focus as well as having an aluminized phosphor screen. This tube would have made a very bright display with a very long service life and low burn in.

We look at their features and general operation. Mostly concentrating on the 3400, the principals of operation can be directly applied to the 3450. We look at how to power them up and drive them with the proper sync pulses. We look at the insides of the AVC-3400 and all of its external and internal adjustments.
